Now they have responded, has Harry just stirred another hornets nest with Afghan?

How did he have such low knowledge on what the norm is

What a thing to stir up

He was sucking up to the American public. It's clear if you consider his comment on 9/11. He has NO integrity but pretends he does.

EmmaEmerald · 06/01/2023 16:25

DamnYerEyes · 06/01/2023 15:35

What possessed him though?! Has he no foresight?
Anyone could predict how this would play out but not him for some reason. I just don’t get it.

I am absolutely flummoxed

I cannot believe anyone who served would do this. I feel as if he has made himself and his entire family a target.

Daisymaker · 06/01/2023 16:30

What a bloody idiot

Bloody hec Harry. What have you done. You have endangered not just the life of you and your family, but of my armed forces friends, and my entire country.

Perhaps now you will realise why the royals have a policy of silence. It's to protect you and them and us. Grow up Harry.

Harry learns the hard way that his family are right about the 'no complain no explain' policy. But in the process, he's destroying a country, an institution and world peace.

Your armed forces friends endangered their own lives when they chose their job.

Before the book, did anyone think he hadn’t killed people? I’m not sure why this admission suddenly makes him a target. It was hardly a secret that he served in Afghanistan. What did people think he was doing out there?! As for the chess pieces comment, I imagine most members of the army think in a similar way. It’s how they can sleep at night.

SlowHorses67 · 06/01/2023 16:37

Very unwise. Why on earth didn’t the publishers or his own agent/employees point this out to him?

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 06/01/2023 16:45

It's a very clumsy analogy to refer to killing Taliban as 'They were chess pieces taken off the board' when there are Kings and Queens on a chess board...

YesterYay · 06/01/2023 16:49

This is missing the point rather wilfully. It's bad form and a huge security risk to be publicly talking numbers and comparing those he killed to chess pieces so flippantly. He is lacking some serious IQ.

Swissmountains · 06/01/2023 16:50

Harry has been utterly irresponsible.

Even if you think of the opposing army as chess pieces, putting that in a book makes you a target even if you aren't famous.

if you're this level of famous, you make a target out yourself and others.

there will be tons of stuff that goes on in many lines of work, that you do not discuss with others, for all kinds of reasons.

We do think the same way, we do desensitise but it's just an unwritten rule that you don't speak of it openly....

And as for that's how we sleep at night, many of us don't sleep, it's why our MH stats are shockingly high. Our job to defend the country from enemy threats is so that YOU can sleep at night.

He has just given the taliban a reason to retaliate with justification.

Completely agree and Christ never thought I would agree with the vile taliban but their statement was correct. He's a prize idiot snd a dangerous one

don't be an idiot. But enjoy sleeping safely in your bed at night

This! Very well put.

Newpuppymummy · 06/01/2023 16:55

He must have terrible advisors to let him do this. What an idiot

EmmaEmerald · 06/01/2023 16:55

I will admit freely, I have always liked Meghan, puzzled over why she would spoil her life by marrying a royal and living in our weather, but thought she must really love him.

I thought of him as harmless but now I'm thinking..is he ill? Is he trying to cause an incident - like poking a self destruct button? Or is he that thick?

she's very intelligent, I can't imagine she okayed saying any of this stuff about the "chess pieces".

BrieAndChilli · 06/01/2023 16:57

its not that he killed people. We all knew that, like we know that a lot of the armed forces who have been involved in combat probably have, The taliban also already knew that BUT its not something to talk publicly about, taking a life should weigh heavily on anyone. I'm not saying it shouldnt be talked about as that is where a lot of the mental health issues in the armed services stems from but it is something to discuss with therapists, comrades in arms and family and friends in private - it comes across that he probably also things about the rest of us non-royal people as plebs and just dicposable not to be thought about too much!

This is exactly how I feel. It’s perplexing.

I wonder if he did it thinking that 'Well now they will have to provide security for me and my family'.

That's what I thought straight away... Now daddy will HAVE to pay for my security!

See, I don't think that at all

the response is more likely to be cut Harry off completely and make a very public statement about it.

I can almost guarantee that the MH stats would be much healthier if you could all speak openly about what you have done.

His comments were foolhardy but not shocking in the slightest. A reason to retaliate - I’m sure they are telling themselves that. Justification? Not at all. He hasn’t said anything that wasn’t already known or could be deduced.

Calmdown14 · 06/01/2023 17:05

I think this just confirms the rumours that they bullied their press officers out were true.

They clearly don't listen to advice as this is madness and no one is in a position to give an honest opinion.

The trouble for them now is that if there's any kind of attack on the country or service personnel (even if it has been in the planning long before this) will be placed at his door. Why on earth would you risk that. For what? To say 'look what a brave guy I am' (but I'm scared of my brother and a dog bowl).

This book should never have been published.

TinyChancer · 06/01/2023 17:05

I hope Harry's stupidity in this matter will lose him the 'I need security' argument with the Home office. They can surely say he is putting himself at risk, and its not because his security was withdrawn with he left the RF.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 06/01/2023 17:05

He did this deliberately to get the British Tax payer to fund his and his family’s security as an internationally protected person, he knew exactly what he was doing, never mind that he has put a target on the backs of forces personnel, the royal family and the British public, so long as he gets his security paid for that is all that matters, his selfishness knows no bounds.

Cornettoninja · 06/01/2023 17:05

The taliban also already knew that BUT its not something to talk publicly about, taking a life should weigh heavily on anyone

and this is where nuance comes in isn’t it? Yes he was in a military role it would be daft to pretend didn’t involve killing or causing serious injury but to capitalise on that alongside anecdotes about losing your virginity and getting frost bite on your dick cheapens the enormity of the realities of war.

I don’t buy the ‘this is his way of processing’ argument. That’s bs - he should be processing the end of other peoples lives in private therapy and showing an inkling of respect in public if he feels the need to discuss it.
