Now they have responded, has Harry just stirred another hornets nest with Afghan?

OP posts:

@Daffodilsandtuplips

Before these latest revelations his claims were mildly amusing, well to me anyway, but this…well. He needs to shut up now.

I agree. But the damage is done now, unfortunately.

That's what I thought straight away... Now daddy will HAVE to pay for my security!

Exactly! Next time when I back to the uk I will be surrounded by police fund by tax payer.
I will get what I want.

rumship · 06/01/2023 18:10

Makes me wonder what would be the opinions of us citizens if the Taliban or sympathisers acted in response to this on us soil or harmed an americans.

Wonder how long Harry and Megs would be staying in the US.

Saucery · 06/01/2023 16:15

I think the Taliban response is fair enough and pretty accurate. They seem to be a good judge of his character and motives. Any retaliation that affects anyone but Harry is, of course not fair enough.

You think the Taliban are a good judge of character?! Maybe you should ask the women of Afghanistan and see how they feel. What an idiotic comment.

Bloody hec Harry. What have you done. You have endangered not just the life of you and your family, but of my armed forces friends, and my entire country.

Perhaps now you will realise why the royals have a policy of silence. It's to protect you and them and us. Grow up Harry.

Harry learns the hard way that his family are right about the 'no complain no explain' policy. But in the process, he's destroying a country, an institution and world peace.

This is an excellent comment and needs to be reposted. The RF represents GB which is why they have to be so very careful about anything they say, and why they often just say nothing. They don't get to air their own comments if they don't align with the country's. H knows this and still chose to shoot off his mouth. His wish is to bring a storm of trouble.

poshme · 06/01/2023 18:14

@CombatBarbie I was just talking to my kids about this. I explained that military people don't talk about this. My teen daughter was horrified he'd killed 'so many people'.

I said, that's what our armed forces do- they kill the bad people, to keep us safe, and I am always thankful that they are willing to do that.

Thank you to everyone on this thread willing to do what I couldn't, so I sleep safely at night.

kirinm · 06/01/2023 18:14

Pansypotter123 · 06/01/2023 17:16

If he thinks of the Taliban soldiers he killed as pieces on a chess board, I what he (and the rest of the RF) thinks of us, his father's subjects!

Are you comparing the British public to the Taliban? You think there is a comparison?

Pansypotter123 · 06/01/2023 18:26

Not at all.... merely wondering what he thinks of all people.

West66 · 06/01/2023 18:30

We are all peasant

greennavy · 06/01/2023 18:36

I think he is a massive twat.

But he was a British soldier in Afghan. Didnt he do two tours?

Obviously he and his unit killed multiple taliban members

It's not news

I agree with you completely @kirinm

A disgusting comment, particularly in light of their conduct since they took over. Though it was of no surprise to anyone, some Mumsnet posters excepted.

I heard it's the same publisher as The Satanic Verses.

Not exactly the same.

The Satanic Verses was published by Viking Penguin, an imprint of Penguin.

Spare is published by Penguin Random House, formed when Random House and Penguin merged in 2013.

notimagain · 06/01/2023 18:50

@Shelefttheweb

The risk was already there with the various heads of state in attendance many of whom have their own terrorist, war or civil war issues. I don’t think Harry’s comment would make much difference to what would already be very tight security arrangements.

Very much agree.

Security around the coronation will have been planned to be tighter than a duck's backside already, for all the reasons you mention.

I'm not sure PH's ill advised comments change much for the general population or even most of those attending the event.

Dibbydoos · 06/01/2023 18:53

Who is t,he editor he's using? Fgs that person need shooting!

Sadly, Harry needs to apply some control too but the editor is tge one who makes the decisions around what's in and what isn't!

LadyVictoriaSponge · 06/01/2023 17:20

Agreed “least said soonest mended” is good for some people.

That was the approach of The Queen & Prince Philip, and their generation in general.
PP went through quite a lot before the age of 16 - sent alone from his home in Greece to boarding school in Scotland, his mother went into an asylum & he didn't see her for around 9 years, and his pregnant sister was killed in a plane crash. When asked about his life his attitude was 'well awful things happened, but there we are.' No dwelling on it or analysing it.

Is that the right approach for everyone? Probably not. But the emotional diarrhoea that's encouraged now, and H & M so actively participate in, has the considerable downside of sweeping others up in it who are then harmed in the process.

Oh read it again and stop looking for made up shit in comments 🙄

I said a good judge of his character.

Extrapolating any other wider meaning from that is idiotic.

SammyScrounge · 06/01/2023 19:31

Cornettoninja · 06/01/2023 17:05

The taliban also already knew that BUT its not something to talk publicly about, taking a life should weigh heavily on anyone

and this is where nuance comes in isn’t it? Yes he was in a military role it would be daft to pretend didn’t involve killing or causing serious injury but to capitalise on that alongside anecdotes about losing your virginity and getting frost bite on your dick cheapens the enormity of the realities of war.

I don’t buy the ‘this is his way of processing’ argument. That’s bs - he should be processing the end of other peoples lives in private therapy and showing an inkling of respect in public if he feels the need to discuss it.

I recall an article from a while back in which a disgruntled anonymous soldier complained about Harry being portrayed as a gung-ho soldier in Afghanistan. In his view, Harry was kept far far away from danger because the military were afraid of Harry being captured by the Taliban and used as a.hostage.

heard the same that he was kept away

so do we think he will get the extra security i think the public will not be happy if he does and i dont think he should he has plenty of money and caused this shit show

also im guessing the risk of retaliation for the general public wishing to line the streets of London for the Coronation could be sitting ducks

rumship · 06/01/2023 20:21

This need posting right here.😡

See what happens now Harry you plank!

Taliban response....
DreamingOfAGreenChristmas · 06/01/2023 20:24

I am astounded that the editor and publishers allowed this to stay in the book.

And surely both the publishers and Harry would have had lawyers cast an eye over the book and I am amazed that no one picked up on the implications of this.

Very very strange.

HermioneWeasley · 06/01/2023 20:28

His editor works for his publisher. His publishers wants lots of publicity and to sell lots of books. This achieves that aim. It’s not their job to ask him “are you really sure you want to say that?”

Jean67 · 06/01/2023 20:39

My dad fought in the Second World War. He was in his early 20s. The only thing he ever said was 'I saw man's inhumanity to man. That's all I will ever say'. He played golf. That was his refuge. My dad grew up in an incredibly poor home where he had to leave school at 14, despite having a scholarship to carry on, because his father died when he was 10 and he had to help support the family.

Harry is a crass, over privileged idiot. He has no idea of the struggles ordinary people face. I had every sympathy for him but I'm now so angry that I hope this all backfires and he lives the life of misery that he deserves.

Actually, it is.

Where there could be legal implications.

What a bloody mormon

Of all the 'revelations' which have cold out I just cannot work out how him/anyone surroundeding him could have thought it was wise to leave put these details in

Yes this should be the nail in the coffin to ensure H&M stay well away from the coronation

TurquoiseDress · 06/01/2023 20:45
