@threecupsofteaminimum and @Cranberrystreet

I expect you are right.

However even if the public have sympathy or like them again there’s no doubt it does the family no favours. What happens at the Coronation when they get invited back? If Harry goes back he’ll look like a hypocrite and if he stays away he’s burnt his bridges.
Clearly aimed at the US market. That he published the number of men he killed is frankly embarrassing.

Canany1cme · 05/01/2023 23:49

I was really struck by Kate walking with Harry after Prince Phillip’s funeral. Then again William and Kate agreeing to do a walk about with Harry & Meghan after the Queen died.

I felt they behaved so graciously after everything that Harry & Meghan had thrown at them.

I think they royal family will be fine.

TiddyTidTwo · 05/01/2023 23:50

I really didn't need to know Willy's Willy was circumcised. That is no one's business. What the hell was Harold thinking?!?!

He seems obsessed by cocks. Himself included.

Then body shaming re baldness? Nah. That's hurtful

I love the way everyone is saying that H has made a tit of himself having not even read the book!

Wake up everyone! You have read extracts of a poorly translated book filtered through a tabloid that is notoriously biased against H and M!

I am not saying that H has been wise in burning his boats like this but surely people want to wait until they have read the book before making a judgment about it? Or are you all just happy to align yourselves uncritically with the Daily Mail’s viewpoint?

Even the BBC did the same thing tonight. Sophie Raworth announced blithely that the Beeb hadn’t been able to obtain a copy of the book which had been put on sale in Spain “by mistake” and yet they still wheeled on the odious Nicolas Witchell to put in his penny’s worth based on tabloid extracts! Really expected more of the BBC tbh.

Oh, lighten up. He and Penguin Random House tried to control the narrative by releasing snippets to the Guardian. Unfortunately for them the Spanish version got mistakenly released and the clunky translations just went badly. Sometimes things just don't go in your favour.
Of course, now it's out, no matter how beautifully the book is written, people will forever cling on to the translation because its just, well, funnier! But that's what can happen when you try to influence how things unfold.
Of course, the book will be mainly mundane details with lots of feelings and thoughts with these excerpts scattered around. But such a massive release of details, one after the other, will be the ultimate take away from the book and Harry can't get ahead of it. If he's being honest that he just wants people to know the unadulterated truth, then he won't be bothered, will he? I feel sorry for the ghostwriter. His name will be linked with these translations for the foreseeable future.

And, honestly, bringing in the Daily Mail when everyone can read for themselves, is a sign of desperation.

feelingfree17 · 05/01/2023 23:55

Loving how the Palace continues to keep a dignified silence.
Hopefully they will eventually shut up and go away.
I do feel sorry for Harry though, I genuinely think he isn’t well.
So sad he ever met her.

BellePeppa · 06/01/2023 00:00

They’re probably really glad he’s talked about losing his virginity as that’s been a real distraction 😁

MarshaMelrose · 06/01/2023 00:03

The Palace couldn't have asked for a better day really. The clunky Spanish translations have done them such a favour.

dropthevipers · 06/01/2023 00:03

Never mind the Palace, I suspect a small corner of LA will be hitting the gin (or meths)

vera99 · 06/01/2023 00:09

Williams smashing stuff up. Kates screaming at him I'll leave you know, Camiilas slumped snoring like a horse whilst Clarkson's farm binge watch plays on the telly. Meanwhile Charles is in the garden talking to an oak tree and saying I knew you when you were an acorn I've been a good parent haven't I ? Or something like that....😁

Yesthatismychildsigh · 06/01/2023 00:11

Oblivious to what a large amount of the public think about them. So all normal.

Cranberrystreet · 06/01/2023 00:13

That’s just it though; the translations are very clunky!

Take the Taliban comment as an example.

Some of you have said that the fact that Harry has published the number of men he killed is embarrassing and unwise but if you read what he actually said ….

…From The Telegraph:

”He says that in war soldiers do not usually know how many enemies they have killed, but “in the era of Apaches and laptops” he was able to say “with exactness how many enemy combatants I had killed. And it seemed to me essential not to be afraid of that number”.

“So my number is 25. It’s not a number that fills me with satisfaction, but nor does it embarrass me.”

^^ So the death tally wasn’t mentioned by H in a valedictory or boastful way. He was saying that current technology doesn’t allow you to be vague about the number! Context is everything!

And a good reason to speculate about PTSD tbh.

Probably all trying to work out who he was behind the pub in the field with.

I mean that’s just weird. Then he
got worried the bodyguards would know but surely they did. He had 24/7 protection. Doubt they cared. Not their job to protect their virginity…just to keep them alive.

Nurserymumm · 06/01/2023 00:22

Wonder if they'll be invited to the coronation in May & if they have the brass balls to turn up?
Whatever credibility (& it was very little) they had is gone now. The pair of them are the laughing stock of the world & probably no 1 on the Talibans list.

Im pretty sure Harry will have spilled the beans and bored them with those details many, many times over. I'm just mazed it wasn't in any of his wedding speeches. 🙄 #harrylacksfilter

Ha ha, google box!!

AuroraCake · 05/01/2023 22:44

What can they say. It’s a complicated family issue. Recollections May vary.

there is nothing they could say without going in with a line for line rebuttal and stope to the level and engage in toddler play. They either get in the mud pit and start slinging or say nothing.

I agree. It's just out of control now, there's no point replying. You can't argue with crazy. I have a family member like this, we tried to help him for so many years, now none of us see him or speak to him. It's all very sad. This whole drama reminds me when he went off the rails (he was also a spoiled second son who blamed his parents for everything).

I like to think that Wills and Kate put the kids to bed and then got stuck into the wine. There was a lot of swearing.

Yes me too!

Viviennemary · 06/01/2023 00:34

This is nothing compared to past events. People are just seeing Harry as a moaning troublemaker. The dog bowl fight sounds like slapstick comedy.

Andrew and Sarah will be well into their third bottle of Bolly by now, this puts toe sucking, Epstein and non sweaty armpits right back in the box in the attic.

Cherry35 · 06/01/2023 00:44

@Pinkbonbon

That's right. As soon as they stop making money by playing victimhood, Megan will divorce him and then he will realize what he's done.

I think it's too late for him to recover his family though (dad and brother). Naming his brother aa nemesis that's crossing a line. Well, he crossed many lines already.

Frostnipped todger to be precise!

BellaCiao1 · 06/01/2023 00:50

The admiration for this stoic, stiff upper lip and say nothing approach is pathetic.

Staying quiet isn't admirable. If William/Kate are so innocent then defend yourselves. Put the thing to bed.

If H&M's pov was discussed on Mumsnet as anonymous civilians you'd all be encouraging them to go NC.

Harry's comments about wanting a family, not an institution are very telling. It's evident Charles and William have put power and glory above all else.
