They have probably sighed a huge air of relief.

If you look on social media and the public comments on major news websites, BBC, CNN, NBC and the like. There is a clear 80/20 split in favour of the royal family globally.

I think the palace will remain silent, they will spend the next few days observing public mood on social media platforms, talk shows, news reporting and so on, and come to the conclusion that the majority of the British public think the best thing in 2023 so far is Harry falling in a dog bowl.

I mean look at this meme.....this took effort!

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to the mood in the Palace tonight? 😩
Legrandetraitor · 05/01/2023 23:14

Actually I am still hoping for leaks from palace re meghan. Eg records of her emails to staff or meeting minutes etc

Anniefrenchfry · 05/01/2023 23:15

I don’t think it will be anything as salacious. I suspect Charles has reminded them all to remain silent and not comment.

I also suspect they are quite hurt, angry, dismayed and shocked, they are still real people, and will be talking about it between themselves.

feelings likely range from anger to worry about harry, particularly from Charles, but I suspect also an element of relief from all of them that it’s back fired so much and people are taking more issue with harry over it, than the royals, exc the usual anti monarchy brigade.

mainly folks seem to think it’s unacceptable, he’s even talked about losing his virginity ffs, is nothing private, it’s just so utterly undignified and unedifying to sell this stuff. And it’s only sellable because of who he is, his position in the royal family.

yes it’s his story, but who the hell needs to read about him “mounting” some woman from behind, in a field and getting his arse slapped.

GrazingSheep · 05/01/2023 23:16

ultimately I think there will be a lot of sympathy for the RF right now.

I think it shows the RF warts and all. No different and no better than anyone else.

MrsMorrisey · 05/01/2023 23:17

What's happened?

The press have sensationalised un contextualised tit bits as gory headlines and its had the desired effective see.

Maybe read the book in its own terms before you start with the accusations of 'he's lost it'.

You sound like a bunch of crows.

It’s the crows that were in the pub field that I’m worried about.

Butteredtoast55 · 05/01/2023 23:17

I don't think they'll be rejoicing but they might be a little relieved. Even when there's open hostility, mainly between William and Harry, the main emotions must be overwhelming sadness and distress to see details of your private lives and conversations being sold to the highest bidder. Harry writing about what was happening when the Queen died is an exceptionally low blow and, if I think of the dignity of Charles and Anne in particular at that time, knowing now what stroppy behaviour Harry was exhibiting, I think their forbearance was remarkable.

Butteredtoast55 · 05/01/2023 23:18

I think that Charles at least is probably also worried about his son's state of mind.

Nanalisa60 · 05/01/2023 23:19

I don’t think we will hear from the RF , they will just let Horribly Harold get on with it.

No thank you.

We don't want to hear anymore about Meghan.

The book is hilarious to discuss but I hope the palace will keep quiet and cary on.

LuluBlakey1 · 05/01/2023 23:22

Some relief at how dreadful the response has been to Harry's actions and how ridiculous he has made himself, tempered by dread of what is yet to come from the gruesome twosome.

Cranberrystreet · 05/01/2023 23:25

I love the way everyone is saying that H has made a tit of himself having not even read the book!

Wake up everyone! You have read extracts of a poorly translated book filtered through a tabloid that is notoriously biased against H and M!

I am not saying that H has been wise in burning his boats like this but surely people want to wait until they have read the book before making a judgment about it? Or are you all just happy to align yourselves uncritically with the Daily Mail’s viewpoint?

Even the BBC did the same thing tonight. Sophie Raworth announced blithely that the Beeb hadn’t been able to obtain a copy of the book which had been put on sale in Spain “by mistake” and yet they still wheeled on the odious Nicolas Witchell to put in his penny’s worth based on tabloid extracts! Really expected more of the BBC tbh.

…the majority of the British public think the best thing in 2023 so far is Harry falling in a dog bowl.

I liked the bit about his drug-induced visions of bathroom bins growing heads and talking toilets. Pure Young Ones.

I think JR Moehringer is taking the piss out of him, big time.

shreddies · 05/01/2023 23:32

JR Moehringer I guess has an eye on the sales, though you would think the next celeb might be a bit nervous about employing him as their ghost writer

Honeyroar · 05/01/2023 23:35

The Palace have ordered a new cover for Harry’s book..

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to the mood in the Palace tonight? 😩
BMW6 · 05/01/2023 23:36

I am totally awake thanks, and get my news from many sources including abroad.

I have no intention of buying this book to line the pockets of two utter narcissists and their publishers.

However dire the translation may be there is no escaping the dreadful crass, vulgar and breath taking hypocritical nature of this book.

Mr Markle was vilified by his daughter and son in law for (by comparison) NOTHING.

They have sold their families for money. Shame on them.

Don't worry, I hear they're in therapy. Just gotta hope it's not Harry's therapist they're seeing!

BMW6 · 05/01/2023 23:38

Worse, they have sold their dignity and honour.

Hawkins001 · 05/01/2023 23:40

Business as normal, and the chess game advancing as planned

notangelinajolie · 05/01/2023 23:40

If the Royal Family happen across the 'How Harold lost his virginity' thread then I expect there will be sound of champagne corks (lots of),
Harry really has lost the plot. No one in their right mind is going to take him seriously ever again.

MintyFreshOne · 05/01/2023 23:40

Pallisers · 05/01/2023 22:33

To be honest, they've weathered worse. The Diana interview was worse - she was the wife of the heir to the throne and mother of the next heir and she said on national TV that she didn't think Charles was suited to be King. The tampax thing with Charles and Camilla was excrutiating - especially considering they had small children who would have heard all of it. I'm not surprised Harry is such a mess - he came by it honestly via his mother, father and the British press.

They are one of the most dysfunctional families in the public eye - including the Khardashians.

I think she also said she thought PH was more suited to be king than PW 🙈

MintyFreshOne · 05/01/2023 23:40

Diana did not. She called him an airhead like herself. She basically called him stupid…admittedly while calling herself stupid too.

TeaMistress · 05/01/2023 23:44

I wouldn't want to speculate on what is going on behind closed doors in the royal residences tonight. I hope both William and Catherine and the King and Camilla are being are all being supported by their loved ones. It must be absolutely awful to have to go through this series of relentless attacks without being able to respond in kind.

If Harry is making all of these of incredibly inflammatory and cruel allegations he will need to provide some fairly concrete evidence to support them. Surely without evidence these allegations could be seen as libel / defamation?

The admittedly brief and bizarre excerpts we have seen so far are suggestive that Harry is really struggling with mental health and I think he needs help and soon. This is not the behaviour of a sane and mentally healthy adult. What on earth is he expecting to achieve as surely now his family won't ever want to speak to him again. There cannot be a way back from this.

I am absolutely amazed that any of this utter tripe has reached print. Surely he has to understand how bad this makes him and his wife look.

But Agassis was amazing but then he refused to be named as a writer in that book after Agassi wanted him to be because he said all the words were Agassis. So he probably just writes what he is given and Agassis was all to do with him.

This makes me laugh tbh!

How hypocritical is it to allow the staff of the institution of which you are head to (allegedly) brief against your own child?

How hypocritical is it to collude with the press against your own daughter just a few months before her wedding and agree to be paid for making sham photos?

And absolutely NO decent father says to their child “it’s time to look after Daddy”.
