The royal family

Surely this is the death knell for the Royal Family?

Surely its now over for the Royal Family. Any notion that they are in some way special or noble is completely gone now. They have all gravitas of a problem family on Jeremy Kyle. Why would anyone bow to them or look up to them is beyond me. There is no longer anything regal about them!

Well a child trafficking sexual predator hasn't finished them off, so I can't see how a bit of fisticuffs between brothers will.
Look back over the centuries, these people have always been surrounded by scandal, brutality, and sexual deviance - the British people lap it up- as can be testified by the hundreds of threads on here - it's all titillating gossip. The royal family are no different to Gemma Collins and chums- they just have more money, status, and properties.

The current King was recorded telling the current Queen that he wanted to be her tampax whilst they were both still married to other people - they're not classy - just rich.

He’s crying over his broken necklace, then bragging about killing 25 people calling them “chess pieces”.

@ily0 totally this. I laughed out loud at that comparison. It’s risible.

Why are you embarrassed? They have zero impact on your life.

This is my country too and they represent it to the outside world. To me they are just another example of the many things that hold us back. We can do so much better than this pantomime soap opera we call a monarchy.

Now we need to hear from the Woman In The Field. She’d make a
fortune selling her story.

radrado · 06/01/2023 01:08

@Woodenheart33 I’m oddly attached to the monarchy. The tradition and history. I find it reassuring in a way. I can’t really rationalise it!

Just to pick you up on your “we can do better than this pantomime”- it’s not like our democratically elected government are much better. Boris/Truss etc….😜

I bet the press will be onto this. Poor woman will be cringing big time! Where were the protection officers, I wonder.

Blossomtoes · 06/01/2023 01:10

Indeed. Look at the worse pantomime and vote for something better if you don’t want to be embarrassed on the world stage.

Menomenon · 06/01/2023 01:12

It’s the end for Prince Harry. What can he do now?

  • Media Figure? No, he hates the media and is awkward on camera
  • Mental Health Advocate? Lol, er, never again after causing others so much needless harm
  • Quasi Military role? Nope, discussing kill rates is unacceptable to the Armed Forces. As it trashing the Rotal Family and Britain.
  • Farmer? Yep, he’ll end up ranching some cattle

Even if there were some piece of work he might be suited to, thanks to bragging about killing the Taliban, no employer will have him. The insurance risk would be too much. He has made himself even more of a target for an Islamic extremist than he was before. And that target extends to his kids. What a stupid, stupid thing to do.

Yes, and as she apparently treated him like a young stallion, she could call it ‘Mare’…

Well absolutely our government is a joke, even more proof of how stupid we must be in the UK. I'd say that our monarchy is just another symptom of the same disease that keeps us voting for those twits.

No. But I do think it's all over for Harry & Markle.

LadyWiddiothethird · 06/01/2023 01:45

Not the end of the Royal Family at all,but think it should be the end of Harry,he’s batshit barmy.

This is how I feel.

I like the traditions, and I enjoy being a country with a royal family. I don’t feel that royals are “better” just richer, and good figureheads for our country.

I also think the RF is a deterrent to corruption in parliament, sadly not a complete deterrent but some help. And I think King Charles - and Prince William when his time comes - may both be tougher on PMs in private than QEII was.

Trump did so much damage to the US constitution and I fear without a royal family the same will happen here.

Plus I enjoy the pomp and ceremony. The Jubilees are such joyous occasions and it brings fo much of the country together.

StalkedByASpider · 06/01/2023 02:25

Oh and no, O don’t think this is the end of them.

I think Harry has shown his true colours and a lot of people who were on his “side” are now realising that sadly, the man has some serious issues and his accounts may not be reliable…

Meghan doesn’t come out of this well either. Harry has inadvertently confirmed lots of the rumours that swirled about her - rude, abrasive, bullying. She can be wonderful and warm and I think she genuinely cares about certain causes - but that’s only half the story.

The more H&M tell their stories and embellish their claims while shrugging off every shred of responsibility in the fiasco, the more they’re becoming a laughing stock. I don’t see how anyone in the RF could forgive them- Harry - for this.

daisychain01 · 06/01/2023 02:29

no chance! Nobody sees the royal family as anything other than a bunch of humans with the same foibles and failings as the rest of us. They just live in palaces instead of semi's, bungalows and high rise flats.

Toe-sucking, anyone?
I wish you were a tampon?
Its a Cockup?
Nazi uniform?

Take your pick.

If you catalogue some of the cringeworthy moments in the lives of the RF, you'd have more than enough for a boxed set.

Jux · 06/01/2023 02:29

What's the betting H was just as rude about K as W allegedly was about M and then it was just a spat between brothers but H tripped over.

LearnerCook · 06/01/2023 01:23

Oh if only 'twere so, but I'm sure there are plenty more self-serving whinges to come from the Increasingly Spare.

daisychain01 · 06/01/2023 02:34

Meehan's "performance curtesy" and the look of sheer disgust on Harry's face, gives the game away somewhat.

They've obviously never heard of the maxim "when you get in a hole, stop digging" - at least the Palace continues to take on board good media advice "keep a dignified silence and it will all eventually blow over".

The RF is now placing miles, hundreds of miles, of distance between them and HaM.

daisychain01 · 06/01/2023 02:36

Meehan's = Meghan's

MysteryBelle · 06/01/2023 02:39

I never dreamed Harry was such an idiot and that a woman could be as devious and calculating as Meghan. The lip gloss story. She did that on purpose in front of press to act like Princess of Wales was racist or something. When it is common sense to not share lip gloss. She was always trying to act like she was good buddies with Princess Catherine, when she’d only been around the Royal family a handful of times. And insulting Catherine ‘baby brain’ that was malicious.

daisychain01 · 06/01/2023 02:40

It would be tempting to view HaM as Devils Incarnate. They aren't, they've got good and not so good traits, they've just gone rogue and can't now wind it in.

Harry is on the $$$$ treadmill selling any juicy tidbits that the US audience will lap up and is failing to see all the collateral damage of their making ... he'll wake up one day and go "fuuuuuuuuu*k", too late will be the cry.

ArcaneWireless · 06/01/2023 02:46

I fear it is one in the eye for Harold.

So many important issues he could have addressed and he chose to speak of his body count, his mounted companion and knobrot due to the cold.

He has become a joke and a bitter, resentful sounding one at that.

And for all they’ve had to say up to now, they’ve been remarkably silent today.

He has been very supportive of Meghan. I wonder if she will be openly supportive of what he’s had to say.

Lampzade · 06/01/2023 02:47

They will survive, but in a much weakened state.
Everything they do will be regarded with suspicion

pompomdaisy · 06/01/2023 03:34

Nooo it would be like your favourite soap ending!

Yes, our elected officials are so full of grace and statesmanship.
