The royal family

Surely this is the death knell for the Royal Family?

Surely its now over for the Royal Family. Any notion that they are in some way special or noble is completely gone now. They have all gravitas of a problem family on Jeremy Kyle. Why would anyone bow to them or look up to them is beyond me. There is no longer anything regal about them!

No I love them more than ever. Can’t wait for the coronation.

He’s ‘written’ about how he lost his virginity?

Why?!?

And his 'todger' getting frostbite...

HamBone · 05/01/2023 23:07

Nah, the RF has always lurched between scandal and playing happy families-Queen Victoria’s uncles were ridiculed for their lifestyles; Victoria promoted the concept of a stable family; Edward VIII rocked the boat by abdicating so George VI promoted the happy family image again; Charles and Diana wrecked it. And so the cycle continues.

W&K will quietly get on with their roles and we’ll be back to happy families again in 10 years, with uncle Harry over in the US forgotten.

Viviennemary · 05/01/2023 23:07

Quite the opposite. I'm not a royalist but heaven forbid it should be brought down by those two.

Youwhatnowbiggles · 05/01/2023 23:11

Was this meant to be ‘in time’ for the American audience waking up? Anyone else noticed that in recent days…? Prob just me but…

Tinkerbyebye · 05/01/2023 23:13

I think the great majority just think Harry is a whining idiot, can’t get his facts right, determined to rake over how he perceives he has been treated, and unable to stop doing that. If what he says is true, he wants to reconcile after the book is out he is truly delusional.

He and Meghan have repeatedly told different stories and lied so many times now, even though they believe what they said is true.

in a way I feel sorry for him, the more I read the more I think Meghan is controlling, and Harry is being gaslighted.

And people are getting fed up, if you remember the Netflix documentary lasted a couple of days in the papers, then forgotten. It will be the same with the book. The only reason it will drag on is because it was ‘released early’ in Spain ‘in error’.

The RF will continue, one spoilt petulant man child won’t bring it down

GoingtotheWinchester · 05/01/2023 23:16

@Queeniewag cant decide if you’re being serious? 🤷‍♀️

Bestcatmum · 05/01/2023 23:19

I think they will be ok, this has all happened before with Edward and Mrs Simpson. That was a complete scandal.
The Diana and Charles divorce was much much worse at the time, all those hideous interviews on tv with both of them slagging each other off and nobody even thinks about it now years later.
They are only human like the rest of us.
I wonder if Harrys therapist is for or against all this public laundry airing. It certainly isn't healthy.
When I went through an awful divorce and had family problems I certainly didn't put it all over facebook for months on end every last detail. My friends would not have been in the least impressed.

magicthree · 05/01/2023 23:20

Re William , this confirmation of his violent rage is more damaging than all the affairs

Not to everyone - my reaction to hearing this was "Go William!!!" and I'm sure I am not the only one.

DillDanding · 05/01/2023 23:23

I have no respect for any adult that lashes out in anger. It’s utterly pathetic.

Crikeyalmighty · 05/01/2023 23:25

Someone else described them on another thread as a'take a break' special edition. I'm not a monarchist but I can't help but feel a bit sad that the queen had this bunch of unclassy idiots on her team in the last few years.

StaunchMomma · 05/01/2023 23:25

As far as I'm concerned, no birth-right makes any person better than anyone else. I would have bowed to the Queen because I respected her. I would not bow to any of the others.

They may have won the family lottery (in terms of money/land etc) but I absolutely would not want to swap mine for theirs!

Wiluli · 05/01/2023 23:30

There was never anything regal about them imo they were always hypocrites that hide behind their titles . But this who think they are regal will still believe they are beneath them therefore they ill
keep on supporting them . It’s baffling to actually try and understand how anyone can support the monarchy

highfidelity · 05/01/2023 23:31

Of course not, and it seems they've taken heed of Mr Bennet's words:

"For what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbours, and laugh at them in our turn?”

Bertha21 · 05/01/2023 23:31

I wonder if we all wrote what we got up to when we were young if it would be just as embarrassing. I definitely wouldn’t want it in a book! I think Harry is going to be suffering with huge regret. He isn’t doing himself any favours. All for money. I think William probably did what most older brothers would like to do! And lost his shit.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 05/01/2023 23:32

If Harry had stuck to “my brother assaulted me” he might have done the RF some damaged.

He didn’t though and the most talked about is him losing his virginity and his pathetic “my brother is more bald than me” moment.

He took attention away from his own revelation by the shagging in a field story.

Noonesperfect · 05/01/2023 23:33

The dignified silence of Charles, Camilla, William and Catherine is brilliant and pure class,
and shows Harry and Meghan up to be the spoilt, selfish navel gazers that they really are.

Pushing your brother with enough force to knock him over . Yeh so brilliant, dignified and classy 🙄

LadyVictoriaSponge · 05/01/2023 23:33

bloodyplanes · 05/01/2023 22:42

Not in the slightest! Its made him go up in the estimation of every single person I've spoken to about this. Harry is actually making the royals more popular with his cringeworthy snivelling self pity! Hes also basically removed any doubt from people's minds that his wife is a nasty bully with no respect for anyone! Massive own goal from him!

Yep exactly the same response from my circle, Harry has scored a massive own goal, the RF are not going anywhere.

whynotwhatknot · 05/01/2023 23:33

nah do you remember the eighties? harry is the one who looks like an idiot

He’s crying over his broken necklace, then bragging about killing 25 people calling them “chess pieces”.

Wibbly1008 · 05/01/2023 23:35

TanyaTurnersNails · 05/01/2023 21:07

If anything I think it will strengthen support for them, I think William's popularity will grow 😁

I agree. I actually like William more now he “dog bowled” his whiney brother.

ArseInTheDogBowl · 05/01/2023 23:36

He’s crying over his broken necklace, then bragging about killing 25 people calling them “chess pieces”.

Jesus, he has no self awareness at all does he!

Benjispruce4 · 05/01/2023 23:38

It’s backed up his mum’s accusations about the men in grey suits controlling them all. I didn’t quite believe that at the time but it appears to be accurate according to Harry ( and The Crown!) so they’re not as powerful as I used to think. Just puppets in an archaic system. I would t mind a smaller, more background monarchy but the press interest will never allow that. Harry as at least shone the light on the fact it’s a two way relationship of feeding stories and deals.

Suboptimalsitch · 05/01/2023 23:42

I have no time for the whole RF but even I’m starting to feel sorry for KC, William, Kate & Co as well as for George & Charlotte who will probably get wind of all this and be confused and upset. And particularly for H&Ms kids who are going to be able to read all this when they’re older and have to try get their heads round it and make sense of It.

Blossomtoes · 05/01/2023 23:45

Adelaide66 · 05/01/2023 22:44

The Monarchy is far older and stronger than entitled Harry. The British public rejected the Duke of Windsor and will treat the Sussexes with similar disdain.,

I think you’ll find the Duke of Windsor rejected his country. His decision to abdicate was entirely his own.
