The royal family

Surely this is the death knell for the Royal Family?

Surely its now over for the Royal Family. Any notion that they are in some way special or noble is completely gone now. They have all gravitas of a problem family on Jeremy Kyle. Why would anyone bow to them or look up to them is beyond me. There is no longer anything regal about them!

I disagree @Happyvalleyfan. The revelations of the last 36 hours have done them nothing but good. A lot of people are wondering how the hell they managed to put up with Harry for so long, they must have the patience of saints.

SirMingeALot · 06/01/2023 18:32

I think some of the things Harry has said don't paint the RF in a good light, but that's much outweighed by him making an arse of himself and also the wasted opportunity. Basically, he could've done a lot worse but instead the story has ended up being cringey stuff about shagging in fields and frozen penises.

ArseInTheDogBowl · 06/01/2023 18:42

The whole airing of dirty laundry in public has been really undignified for the RF- I don’t think they are going to be seen in the same light again.

I think that applies to Harry far more than it does to the Royal Family.

It's mainly Harry's dirty laundry. Being used like a stallion in a field, drugs and hallucinations, frostbitten dick.

I think William is likely to have gone up in a lot of people's estimations.

People aren't shocked at Harry landing in a dog bowl. They're shocked at him being so utterly stupid as to goad comments from the taliban. How fucking idiotic.

He continually whines about his own childhood and generational pain. Well what on earth is he doing to his own children.

Happyvalleyfan · 06/01/2023 18:58

I’m not so sure- at present focus is on PH, but that’s because of the way parts of the book has been leaked. What’s to come?

The dirty laundry is directly linked to other members- whether some people want to normalise violence between grownup siblings or not- people will remember PW pushing his brother.

I don’t personally know any adults whose arguments result in physical altercations- only in a work capacity.

What’s to come?

Nothing much, I suspect. The most salacious samples have been cherry picked.

Megan1992xx · 06/01/2023 19:09

The RF are basically an organised crime racket; snorting coke, killing people, money laundering, centuries of involvement in the Slave trade and the Opium trade. We are looking at personal wealth that has been handed down the generations without facing inheritance tax.
Time to pay reparations to all those who have suffered at their hands.
All the tenants of the Duchy of Cornwall should be give the land they have cared for generations as their own. Money should be paid to those countries which suffered slavery sponsored by the RF.
Mr and Mrs Windsor should move to a terrace in Slough, the town they got married in.

Only to disparage PH by a biased press?
Perhaps the book will be as harmless to the RF as you envisage?
Nothing to fear then- but not sure of why all the vitriol directed to PH then?

BreadInCaptivity · 06/01/2023 19:18

I very much doubt it.

I think it had the potential to seriously damage the RF, but based on the leaked content any revelations that reflect poorly on the RF are being hugely overshadowed by content that reflects poorly on H/M or are simply just excruciatingly cringeworthy.

The thing I note is either how lacking in insight H must be in having read back the early drafts and signed them off or alternatively having signed a deal that resulted in him losing editorial control.

The stories here that will be remembered won't be the narrative H wanted.

It will be the salacious details about losing his virginity and having a frost bitten knob.

Questions won't be asked about William pushing him into a dog bowl, rather admiration for a relative level of restraint against a self absorbed petulant sibling for whom nothing is ever good enough.

Catherine won't be berated for not sharing lip gloss, but for M referring to her "baby brain" and being gracious in response and publicly punished for it.

For reasons only H&M truly know he's sacrificed long term financial security for short term monetary gain.

Exactly what the true cost of that will be, time will tell, but it won't be the RF footing the bill.

@Sweetpeasaremadeforbees The ones who genuinely like M and H seem to have gone quiet.

We haven’t, we’re just sitting behind the screen having a field day, enjoying the vitriol this book is causing.

it’s Harry who’s being ridiculed by the news outlets and SM so not sure why you’re enjoying that if you’re a fan of his.

Sorry I don't read the Daily Mail or any of Murdochs tabloids.

Than the daily Mail? Absolutely. Anything is a worthier source than the daily fail, even MN.

Snippedasababy · 06/01/2023 19:53

How can you be sat back watching the reaction, whilst claim you don’t engage with any source of the reaction you are observing?

I haven’t seen much/any vitriol, there’s been plenty of hilarity and a fair bit of concern about his mental health.

The word 'vitriol' is very broadly defined on these threads.

Basically, it means anything that is even mildly critical of the Montecito reality TV stars.

Happyvalleyfan · 06/01/2023 20:10

Maybe we’ve been reading different threads- I’ve heard some really unpleasant things being said about him- possibly by the same people who also normalise physical aggression?

Bluekerfuffle · 06/01/2023 20:11

Anyone who believes a fit, mid-30s man over 6ft tall can fall hard enough to break a dog bowl simply by someone grabbing and pushing him by his collar needs to watch some rugby.

Depends on the dog bowl. Knowing them it was a royal dalton dog bowl with hand painted periwinkles.

Woodenheart33 · 06/01/2023 20:12

ReneBumsWombats · 06/01/2023 05:54

Yes, our elected officials are so full of grace and statesmanship.

Well I don't like them either but in theory a government should have a useful purpose. I see no such value in the Royal Family, time for it to go.

No people will remember forever Harry’s arse in the dog bowl a lot of people will think Harry got his just desserts from William.

Speak for yourself- there are people who will remember that PW used physical force against his brother in response to a disagreement, when such a response in most circumstances is abnormal.
