Meghan WAS banned from Balmoral after Queen’s death

In his book, Harry also claims that his father told him that Meghan should not come to Balmoral. The Queen was staying at her Scottish estate when she died last September.

The prince wrote: "Then my father called again. He told me I was welcome at Balmoral, but… without her. He started to explain his reasons, but they didn't make any sense at all, and it was disrespectful as well. I did not tolerate it from him.

"Don't even think about talking about my wife like that.

"Repentant, he said, stammering, that he simply didn't want the place to be full of people. Nobody's wife was going to go, not even Kate, he told me, so Meg shouldn't either."

The fact that Harry arrived so late and hid plane sat for so long before leaving tells me he was throwing a tantrum to try get his way and bring Meghan. When his gran had just died. Classy guy

ThighMistress · 05/01/2023 21:12

Why did Meghan want to go? She had presumably escaped the toxic mob so why did she want to place herself in the middle of it…… I wonder Hmm

@bellac11 apparently he says in the book that Harold is Williams nickname for him. They are Harold and Willy.

It was just the children who took their spouses. Not news and she wasn't BANNED.

Even if she was though, who cares? It's understandable. If this was my family and that was my SIL I'd ban her from granny's death bed too

Georgeskitchen · 05/01/2023 21:14

I was under the impression that none of the wife's were there. Correct me if I'm wrong . Charles and Anne were by her side when she passed away but the others didn't get there in time x

Why do people keep calling him Harold, Ive seen this on another thread tonight. His name is Henry

Because that's the name he's just put in to the public domain.

Along with Willy, which isn't a nn that's been used publicly for William before

YesterYay · 05/01/2023 21:16

Ha! Meghan wrote that bit for him.

How is it sensible? When my DHs grandmother died partners were welcome. That is usual.

Maybe their partners were loved members of the family. Maybe they respected the dying relative and wanted to be there to support their partner. Maybe the family didn't think of Megan in this way! When someone dies any 'spectators' shouldn't be there

But the rest of the grandchildren were not invited. So it makes sense.

CocoLux · 05/01/2023 21:17

Meghan would likely have filmed it in her phone and flogged the footage to the highest bidder. I wouldn't have wanted her there either.

KatherineJaneway · 05/01/2023 21:18

This was obvious

Camilla and Timothy Lawrence were both in Scotland already, and would have accompanied their spouses (at some points, if not throughout),

Travelling up that day were both Wessexes, and Andrew (not married) and William, the sole DGC who was there.

Cakeandcardio · 05/01/2023 21:19

Wasn't Sophie there? I'm sure she got out of the plane.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 05/01/2023 21:19

If it's true she was banned, good. They made the right call. Otherwise it would have been another story for Netflix, Oprah or the highest bidder. H&M have shown themselves anything but trustworthy.

HariKris · 05/01/2023 21:19

If she had gone, she would have taken a selfie next to the Queen's bed. So good idea really to stop her.

bestchristmasever · 05/01/2023 21:19

So what? I wouldn't have wanted her there either given they were all at daggers drawn, and Charles had just lost his mother and was having to deal with becoming king.

When I lost my parent, if one of my children had had a wife with whom the relationship was as problematic as theirs with the wider family (including siblings) was, I wouldn't have wanted them there either. I would have wanted to avoid the conflict.

Because by then it seems nobody in the family could stand her 😆

CocoLux · 05/01/2023 21:20

Seriously - are Jack Brooksbank or Mike Tindall whinging to the press about not being invited to their dying grandmother in law's bedside? No? Then why should Meghan expect to be there?

creamcoffee · 05/01/2023 21:20

i am sure Charles was right in his request.

Yes but the difference is your DH ‘s grandmother probably liked you & the other partners

CocoLux · 05/01/2023 21:22

Cakeandcardio · 05/01/2023 21:19

Wasn't Sophie there? I'm sure she got out of the plane.

Sophie and the queen had been close for years, and as Sophie was her daughter in law she was one step closer a relative as well.

milveycrohn · 05/01/2023 21:22

At that time the Queen had not died. She was DYING.
Having a son or daughter in law, who had been part of the family for many years, is one thing. (Sophie Wessex).
However, Meghan was a GRANDDAUGHTER in law, and one with whom there had obviously been some differences with. Hence they had stepped back from the Royal Family.
I am surprised that Harry thought she should be there.

ily0 · 05/01/2023 21:22

Harry is such an idiot. The Queen was about to die, she probably didn’t want Meghan anywhere near her and neither did her son! Surely what they want is important not whiney brat Harry.

ily0 · 05/01/2023 21:24

Does Harry not realise how bad this book is making Meghan sound? The staff thought she was “rude and abrasive” (his words) and the Queen and Charles wanted her to stay away from them. This makes her sound awful! I can’t believe she let him write this and doesn’t have the self awareness to know this makes it sound like she is the problem.

Boulshired · 05/01/2023 21:25

Imagine the queens grandchildren reading that part. Harry gets an opportunity that they have been denied and he’s the one sulking.
