All of these threads about a book that no-one has read yet?

OP posts:

I sort of felt a bit of administration for going off and paddling their own canoe...but jesus I don't want to think of him losing his cherry to some old lady or hearing he has killed 25 people.

Rumours you just made up?

there clearly was no affair for goodness sake

If you look at the comment I was responding to, I was saying that there being no mention of an affair in the book is not proof that the affair did not happen, since the rumours re the affair are that the William took out a super injunction preventing publication of the story.

So that’s not to say the rumours (which have been circulating online and on socials long before my comment on mumsnet) are true or untrue. Just that the lack of mention of an affair in Spare is not proof of William’s fidelity.

If you want to own a book, it obviously has some intrinsic value to you - why shouldn't the author and publisher profit?

If you buy it from a charity shop the author and publisher have already profited. Or do you think that charity shops shouldn't be able to sell books at all?

I didn't say people shouldn't buy from charity shops, let alone that charity shops should not be allowed to sell. I was responding to the poster who cautioned against people borrowing the book from the library. If you'd rather wait and buy a particular book from charity shops, absolutely no problem - but libraries have an important and legitimate role to play too.

This is the most "when I hear the word culture, I reach for my revolver" thing I've seen in a while. If you want to own a book, it obviously has some intrinsic value to you - why shouldn't the author and publisher profit?

You said if you want to 'own' a book, not if you want to read it.

I cannot see why you have posted the above quotation. I am insulted by this.Angry

For your information, I am a member of the county library system, regularly use its services (books, computers, training) and am a member of the local library Book Group.
I support libraries but don't like Hazbeen's nasty literary effort and have no desire to add to H&M's already considerable fortune.

I doubt all the stories the press are covering right now are true.

I suspect the Spanish version is a fake. And when the actual book comes out it will be nothing about Camilla, killing 25, fighting with his brother.

A fake?

I doubt it.

The book is the number one best seller on Amazon.

Because extracts are taken out of context. The media are selective and manipulate the ignorant public.

Exactly, that is why I would be interested in reading the book to get the whole picture.

I’m not surprised, it’s a goldmine.

Ive heard that preorders massively increased following the Spanish leak, people probably thinking I’ve got to read this for myself.

He’ll do well out of it financially. Whether he’ll do well out of it in any other way, I doubt it

Anniefrenchfry · 06/01/2023 08:34

Just google, they put out a statement saying they were launching an investigation on how it happened, it’s literally all over rhe media .

Penguin haven’t released anything to say the leak is real, though.

I’m hoping/expecting that when the book is published next week some of these stories aren’t in there and they are proven to be fake.

What causes me to think this is Harry calls his brother “william” in all tv interviews but in the book calls him “Willy”.

the whole tone of the leaked Spanish stories feel like someone taking the mick.

hope I’m not wrong for Harry’s sake.

H&M would have sued the fuck out of the papers had the excepts been fake and made up by the papers itself.

Give over.

How do you know they won’t sue?

im just reserving judgement until it’s published and I’ve read it.

*A spokesperson for Plaza y Janes Editores, a Spanish subsidiary of Penguin Random House, said: “A very clear launch protocol was established and communicated to all customers so that the book would not be marketed before that date.

“Everything points to the fact that some customers have breached their commitment to the publisher and have put the book on sale before the agreed date.”*

This seems pretty unequivocal

Interestingly, the Telegraph says he has mentioned Andrew. He has said that he doesn’t understand why his security was not paid for when Uncle Andrew’s was and when he (Harry) wasn’t involved in a sex scandal or anything. It will be interesting to see if he mentions it in anymore detail, or is just pointing out that he was not treated the same 🤷‍♀️
