The royal family

To wonder if the allegations Harry has made against his brother might be true?

We put the royal family on a pedestal, however they are a family with potential issues and dysfunction like a lot of families have.

I just find myself wondering if these allegations might have some truth behind them and what that might mean for the future of the royal family.

I also wonder what Dianna would think of this feud between her two boys. I expect she would be very sad…

He has the life he has chosen but it doesn't seem to have made him happy

he's very flawed and obviously irritating and a bit of a tit at times.

Is three insults appropriate then?

A hit! A very palpable hit!

as Shakespeare said.

I'm sure you've heard of an ironic figure of speech?

You've been watching too much Harry. One man's lie is another man's ironic figure of speech. Haha.
(I get you weren't lying, just exaggerating for effect.)

It’s just a v disingenuous attempt to squirm out of being called out - but it’s transparent for all to see - embarrassing and amusing in equal measure.

You don’t know that at all

if you read the tabloids, that’s fine but don’t presume other do

the Guardian did a live commentary which many followed

I am not presuming it!

Nor do I read the tabloids (generally) which is my point!

If you listen to any report about Harry or Meghan, on even quite respectable news outlets such as the BBC to name one, and you trace the origin of the story back, 7 out of 10 times the “spin” or “interpretation” of the story has originated in a tabloid or from a broadcast journalist who used to work for one.

TrashyPanda · 11/06/2023 00:00

if you aren’t presuming, why insist “many people.. are relying on the tabloid view”? You don’t actually know that. More people get their info online than in print anyway

if you don’t read the tabloids, how do you know what is in them?

do you honestly trace every H&M story back to tabloids (which you don’t actually read) to get your figure of 70%?

referring to people who “read tabloids” is just a way of being disparaging about them.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 11/06/2023 08:07

so all the posters repeating ad nauseam the things tabloids have said haven't read the tabloids....

Who can possibly tell?

not you. Not me.

all we can do is to query why people want to categorise a group of unknown strangers in this way. It’s prejudice, pure and simple. And by that I mean prejudice in its actual meaning - to judge without knowledge.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 11/06/2023 08:14

Well, there is a difference.

you are implying that things “people quote ad nauseum” come only from the tabloids. But you can’t actually prove that they gained this information form the tabloid.

and that is different from gaining knowledge and forming opinions about posters’ sympathies by reading their posts - hearing their own words.

I disagree with you,. I did not say it can only come from the tabloids either. But on the balance of probabilities, if posters are often repeating stories and sentiments from the tabloids relentless campaign, then it is highly likely they read them.

and that is different from gaining knowledge and forming opinions about posters’ sympathies by reading their posts - hearing their own words.

Is it? We are all reading each others words and coming to our own conclusions and some posters think the words of anti Harry & Meghan posters sounds verbatim like the tabloids. Its a fair assessment if that's what is presented.

Quisquam · 11/06/2023 08:28

Nrtft, but who cares? All families have falling outs? We only get one side of these incidents - Harry’s. There are always two sides to every story, and maybe Harry doesn’t give us the whole truth about his behaviour, leading up to the incident. Maybe, he doesn’t have the insight to recognise how unreasonable he might be?

All I can is that in my opinion, for people who claimed to want privacy, washing all the family’s dirty washing in public and breaching their privacy, is a very strange and hypocritical way of going about it?

Yep! Agree fully .

Iwantcakeeveryday · 11/06/2023 08:31

They have never said they wanted privacy. I am not sure why people keep repeating that falsehood.

TrashyPanda · 11/06/2023 08:33

some posters think the words of anti Harry & Meghan posters sounds verbatim like the tabloids

yet funnily enough, those who make these claims often state they do not read the tabloids!

the logic flaw is easy to see.

trying To categorise people as “tabloid readers” is an attempt to classify them. It is not a complimentary term as we all know.

jeffgoldblum · 11/06/2023 08:35

Exactly @TrashyPanda ! , just another insult to fling around in an attempt to show their superior intellect!

Iwantcakeeveryday · 11/06/2023 08:37

I'm not sure its about being superior, but understanding the influence and impact it has on us as a society.

TrashyPanda · 11/06/2023 08:39

Which one can only do from a position of knowledge, which would involve the detractors reading the tabloids, thus making themselves targets of their own derision.

Oh absolutely, but there is a difference between reading and taking it in to the extent you repeat the sentiments, and reading it and seeing it for what it is. Its the repeating of the tabloids that says the most, in my opinion. Ive watched Piers Morgan before, but I don't follow him, watch everything he does and repeat what he says like he's my hero.

TrashyPanda · 11/06/2023 08:46

That doesn’t alter the fact that reading the tabloids for whatever reason makes one a tabloid reader.

jeffgoldblum · 11/06/2023 08:46

👏

The OP posed this question way back at the begining

I also wonder what Dianna would think of this feud between her two boys. I expect she would be very sad…

or she might recognise a similarity with her own life. Diana was estranged from both her brother and her mother at the time of her death.

jeffgoldblum · 11/06/2023 08:52

Diana and Harry are very similar in many ways!
