The royal family

To wonder if the allegations Harry has made against his brother might be true?

We put the royal family on a pedestal, however they are a family with potential issues and dysfunction like a lot of families have.

I just find myself wondering if these allegations might have some truth behind them and what that might mean for the future of the royal family.

I also wonder what Dianna would think of this feud between her two boys. I expect she would be very sad…

We don’t have to rely on those media sources to see his blatant fibbing @Cranberrystreet - the lies have come directly from the horse’s mouth via his own book, interviews and Netflix series

But many people haven’t read Spare or listened to the podcasts. They are relying on the tabloid view of those things to inform them.

The books a massive bestseller, and the podcast was popular - why are you assuming people haven't read/listened to them?

I admit I didn't listen to all the podcasts (I found them boring and gave up after a couple - not my podcast cup of tea), but I read the book. Found it a bit of a slog, but I did finish it.

I felt sorry for Harry, but I found it confusing at times, contradictory and at essence a whinefest by an arrogant, indulged, petty, jealous, petulant man-child who should have been told No a lot more than he clearly was.

I don't read the tabloids.

You seem to believe that because you like Harry and read the book that others will do and feel the same. I know of many who have the same opinion as me who have also read the book.

Ireallycantthinkofagoodone · 10/06/2023 15:37

Harry has taken a lot of drugs (by his own admission), and, especially in young people, this can have a massively detrimental effect on your ability to rationalise your behaviour and remember how, if and when things have happened.

He will have suffered hugely, losing his mother, but thousands of children lose a parent (admittedly not in the public eye), and have to carry on with their lives without the support offered to the RF. If Diana had been wearing a seatbelt, she would almost certainly have survived. The one person in the car obeying the law did so.

His tirade about being ‘The Spare’ is pretty daft - I am positive he wouldn’t want the role that awaits William, since he has already said that his father and brother are trapped.

So, despite the fact that he is now ‘free’ from the life he previously lived, he still seems angry, resentful, and determined to remain a victim.

I don’t know whether he will truly be happy with his lot. It just seems a shame to waste more of his life blaming others for anything and everything that has happened.

A d I know of many who have publicly stated on here they wouldn't dream of reading the book and just comment on the sensationalist bits

And others who say they've read the book but as time goes on you think....hmmm from what you're saying, I'm pretty sure you haven't read it.

I found parts of it interesting, parts touching, parts boring, parts frustrating, but the one thing, to me, that is obvious...it is nowhere near as bad as some posters make out (they tend to be the ones in the two categories mentioned above)

And yes like you MrsF, some feel similar to you. But was there any need to call him a strong of insults to get your point across? No, not really. We get it

"And yes like you MrsF, some feel similar to you. But was there any need to call him a strong of insults to get your point across? No, not really. We get it"

Its my personal opinion of the character revealed to me by his book.

It was not my opinion of his character prior to reading it.

jeffgoldblum · 10/06/2023 16:12

Yep 👍, from his own mouth!

How interesting. Poles apart from me then. I felt sorry for him
Not with everything he wrote in the book. But a lot of it.

I think the toxicity of growing up in the RF is horrendous
And he had no Mum to guide him, a distant self absorbed Dad and a brother who was clearly cut out for a role far removed from his.
He's far from perfect, he's very flawed and obviously irritating and a bit of a tit at times. I just don't think he deserves the years and volume of never ending insults. Even on here. Nor Meghan. Outside of here it's become its own hate industry worth millions/billions.

Why use one insult when ten will do lol!?

walk a mile in my shoes is what I think.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 10/06/2023 16:29

walk a mile in my shoes is what I think. Yeah I don't think anyone needs to be perfect in order for them to either receive sympathy or understanding. also to not be harassed and have endless vitriol and nastiness written about him. We are such a divisive mean world at the moment, I think social media hhas fed that kind of behaviour and the kind of thinking where someone is either an angel/victim worthy of basic kindness, or they're evil and demonic and deserve everything anyone wants to say or do to them.

TrashyPanda · 10/06/2023 17:13

Iwantcakeeveryday · 09/06/2023 20:02

Well I believe what Harry said, that his brother briefed against him and some of the more horrible stories are down to him. William is sly about it, but he is no angel himself and is responsible for a lot of negativite stories about his brother and sister in law. He would never have the guts to be honest about it though, he's a coward with a giant ego who treated his brother like shit.

what evidence do youhave about William being sly?

@Iwantcakeeveryday is stating am opinion, not sure she has to evidence it. For what its worth, I share that opinion. For a myriad of reasons. Having read Spare I find it fascinating that my opinion differs so vastly from many on here. It makes me wonder if there are different versions of the book😅.

TrashyPanda · 10/06/2023 17:19

Cranberrystreet · 10/06/2023 14:38

Yeah Harry’s a proven liar and all of the tabloid and even mainstream media reporting about this has been straight down the line.

And his brief introduced him as HRH.

he was told 3 years ago he wasnt entitled to use that any more.

pathetic

You don’t know that at all

if you read the tabloids, that’s fine but don’t presume other do

the Guardian did a live commentary which many followed

No, she said “William is sly.. he is no angel… he is responsible”

as facts, not opinions

so it is perfectly valid to ask where that came from.

TrashyPanda · 10/06/2023 17:25

Why this fascination with claiming anyone who dares to speak up about Harry’s shortcomings being a tabloid reader?

it’s so silly, cos clearly the accuser must read said tabloids themselves in order to make their accusations.

jeffgoldblum · 10/06/2023 17:25

In my opinion, all those things apply to Harry 🤷‍♀️

Excellent points

harry is never going to be happy until he gets over his jealousy

TrashyPanda · 10/06/2023 17:33

also to not be harassed and have endless vitriol and nastiness written about him

and this applies to William too. Some posters seem obsessed in making him out to be the bad guy with no evidence.

Is three insults appropriate then?

Calling someone irritating and a bit of a tit at times does not compare with the post I quoted.

Hey ho

Of course anyone can compare it.

PP raised 5 insults (even though you exaggerated and said 10) but you raised 3 insults …. just curious where your judgement on ‘appropriate’ number of insults lies?

I'm sure you've heard of an ironic figure of speech?

Or maybe not
