The Sun have got hold of a copy of the book that was accidently put on sale in Spain. They are clearly skimming it as fast as possible with a translator. They are reporting that W&H begged KC not to marry C, and that he thought she was leaking stories to the press.

Bloody hell.

They both wanted to be part of it. They always had the option to move somewhere else, to live below the radar. They only went nuclear when they couldn't have the half in/half out arrangement.

As a member of the RF, yes, he is pointless. You surely just need the monarch to do constitutional duties. Why do you need an entire family of hangers on, spares, their spouses, kids etc. Just focus on the heirs and let everyone else live their lives.

So as a member of the RF he is as pointless as all of them, but as a whistleblower who is opening up the whole pointless can of worms, he is the MVP of the whole lot.

@healthadvice123

Harry is a Windsor yes. But one who has shown the ability to self reflect, and think about his circumstances in a way that none of them have. Loved the latest Anderson Cooper clip where he admitted that not only is the British press bigoted, even HE was bigoted. I like Harry because he is willing to turn the lens on himself.

The others just seem desperate to shore up their positions, announcing new titles the minute the Queen dies, playing dress up and toy soldiers while not allowing Harry who actually served to wear a uniform. It's an absurd farce, really.

Yes to this.

BethJ62 · 06/01/2023 07:52

I would think more of H and M if they gave up their titles , LOS for Harry and the children, stopped talking about the Royal Family and concentrated on their charity work . I am sure there is a lot of good stuff they could do if they would stop wallowing in self pity and bitterness.

Inkanta · 06/01/2023 07:55

And yet he and his wife wanted to be part of it ( the titles, jewels, pomp, money, castles etc)

I think he wanted to be part of the family. I think he's just about given up hope on his dysfunctional family.

MissMarpleRocks · 06/01/2023 08:04

Harry has shown zero self reflection. I’m amazed how anyone can think he has.

Do you think any of the Royal family show reflection? I mean Kate spending £175k on clothes when people are struggling to feed their families seems a bit self absorbed to me.

As an early poster said, is the fact that the staff, her own family, colleagues and in laws have all had unpleasant experiences with her not enough for rational adults to admit there might be something in these claims? By all accounts she is deeply unpleasant, yet there’s some strange gaslighting going on by a group of MM supporters who are adamant she’s a saint. It’s bizarre.

Yes, and rational adults might also note that many of the women who marry in to the RF have found it a difficult experience. And when you say "staff" "in laws" and "colleagues" they can really be counted as one person in as much as they represent the establishment.

I've no idea what MM is like but I think it's clear that Buckingham Palace have handled this whole debacle very poorly. And that there has been a lot of gaslighting by those who represent the monarchy. Or is it perhaps a coincidence that favoured contacts of senior royals in the media have at one and the same time written favourable puff pieces about Camilla while dripping numerous anti-Meghan articles in to the tabloids or have been disparaging about her on television?

Vikiush · 06/01/2023 08:21

He could have left the royals had his own life, continued to work and done some good in the world. All he's done is whine since he's left about how unfair his privileged life is. He's lost touch with reality. I have no sympathy for him.

WinnieTheW0rm · 05/01/2023 20:39

The Bench was the first

Spare is the second

There's meant to be a wellness-type book in the offing

And (more speculatively) Meghan's memoirs

I thought it was his four book deal, Meghan’s are on top of these?

So agree with this. I am sick to death of everyone saying but he wanted the privilege and castles etc of the Royal Family. No, he wanted to be part of his family because in breaking away he would be losing his brother and father. That much is obvious. He didn't meet someone compliant like Kate, he met a woman who'd made her own career and money, who had a voice, and the RF couldn't cope with that. Times have changed, imagine who George or Louis might meet or marry?

The RF can't carry on like this.

Their situation was intolerable, the RF handled Meghan very badly and anyone thinking otherwise has just bought into all the drip feeding of how awful she was. The rift between the two brothers was inevitable. It does not surprise me one bit. Harry has always wanted to leave, he didn't like his life, he fell in love, he tried to make it work but the RF closed ranks and didn't support them. One statement like the King of Norway did about racism in the press when his daughter got engaged to a black guy, might've made all the difference.

Great posts from @MrsMaxDeWinter overnight.

Nicholas Witchell looks like he hasn't slept all night... excitement probably Grin. He's suddenly become a bit relevant despite the fact the RF can't stand him!

Unlike Meghan spending $75k on a single dress.

But isn’t that her job? To dress up for Brand Britain? She does it well imo. She also wears high street at the same time. Although a tad fewer coats wouldn’t go amiss.

Ohnonevermind · 06/01/2023 08:47

Meghan spent 75k on a maternity dress, now that’s obscene

She's got 12 red coats apparently. Ridiculous excess. Can we really tell the difference between them all?
No!

Don’t agree . They could have moved to Africa - think of the amazing work they could have done there - NZ, the Cotswolds , anywhere and lived a more private life , still have his family but none of the stuff they didn’t want such as walkabouts in Walsall.
They didn’t want that . They wanted the high profile stuff , a huge budget , 24/7 security etc .
We are told that Meghan made millions in her acting career yet they had to buy furniture from IKEA on her credit card ??
Pull the other one .

Coxspurplepippin · 06/01/2023 08:48

I'm sure it would have been perfectly possible for Harry to have the 'family' without the 'royal' if that's what he really wanted - bit like Zara, Beatrice, Eugenie - turn up at Sandringham and Balmoral for your hollibobs, do the fun bits like Ascot and the Jubilee, and other than that, get a job and live your life.

As to the RF 'handling' Meghan badly - it says much that you think she needed handling.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 06/01/2023 08:49

BethJ62 · 05/01/2023 23:59

I think the point is that had Diana had official protection she would have been travelling in a car with an experienced , sober driver .

Diana had dismissed her protection officers, and had an affair with one.

Was that the hideous kaftan ? If so I think it was nearer £100k. The engagement dress ( which I did like) was £75k . Harry’s dreadful father picked up the bill.

Roussette · 06/01/2023 08:50

And therein lies our differences @BethJ62

You just want them totally silenced. With no voice. That was not going to happen.

Whatever they did was wrong... if they'd have gone to Africa or the Cotswolds they would have still been chased mercilessly by the media... see the pretty pic

He has gone after Camilla....
Coxspurplepippin · 06/01/2023 08:50

BethJ62, Harry certainly mentioned numerous times he would like to live and work in Africa. Far cry from Montecito, sadly.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 06/01/2023 08:50

LuluBlakey1 · 06/01/2023 00:42

Oh get a grip! It was 40 years ago. Diana had more affairs than Charles, including with married men (one of whom she made thousands of anonymous phone calls to him and his wife for 2 years afterwards). She has been dead a quarter of a century. Charles and Camilla are here, long-married and happy. Life moves on in 40 years. You sound as embittered and venomous as Harry.

This ^^ 100%.
Ffs get your facts right @MrsMaxDeWinter

Yes she refused official security as she thought they were spying on her . She had to have official security when she had the boys with her .

I will rephrase that then as you have picked it up to turn it into a slur against her. Happens a lot on these threads

The RF handled the Meghan situation badly.
