Not really sure what to make of this tbh…

The necklace I get because it adds an effeminate quality to the whole victim/attacker scenario.

But the dog bowl? Why was that added for effect? Maybe for plausibility as nobody adds a dog bowl into these situations?

Doesn't say much for the army training nowadays when Harry, former professional soldier in his prime, gets pushed around by an older, middle aged balding bloke and keeps banging on about being 'scared' when he shouts or gets a bit physical!
Not saying adult brothers should get physical, but surely Harry could just have shoved him off??
Whole thing is laughable.

Total victim blaming.

theveg · 05/01/2023 11:17

@secsee saying that the archbishop of Canterbury broke the law "is not a big thing to lie about"??

PH:... and then he pushed me and ripped my necklace and I fell and I broke the dog bowl.
Ghost writer: OK, how about, 'with a powerful roar, he shoved me in the chest. Gasping for breath, I staggered backwards, barely able to believe my brother, my own brother was--'
PH: Stop. You missed the bit about the necklace.
Ghost writer: Hmm, mentioning the necklace rather draws focus away from...
PH: But it was a special necklace. And the dog bowl! You missed out the dog bowl.
Ghost writer: It's somewhat bathetic, the detail about you smashing the dog bowl with your arse when your brother, the heir to the throne, has--.
PH: THE DOG BOWL.

I was surprised at the tawdry prose. Moehringer has an excellent reputation, but Harry is no Agassi and there's only so much you can do with a subject utterly lacking in intelligence and self awareness.

Dog bowls are going to follow Harry around for the rest of his life. He's going to regret that comment. The dog bowl. You must include the dog bowl.

ShepherdMoons · 05/01/2023 11:18

@CocoC I totally agree and I thought the same. In the military you are given training to kill another individual if necessary. The training is tough and unrelenting. Harry served in Afghanistan, I am wondering how on earth he coped? I am now questioning did he really serve as other soldiers did. I actually think Harry's revelations are more damaging to his reputation than William's.

I don’t care what Harry or Meghan are supposed to have done or said
A future King of England assaulting his brother is disgusting .
Anyone who excuses and condones this behaviour is disgusting too

We do not know what lead up to the push. Was Harry in Williams face? Did Harry push first?

I don't believe it was a calm and gentle conversation before the push.

potniatheron · 05/01/2023 10:23

Got to say same, this whole thing has totally cracked me up. A) the "fight" and B) the positioning of it as a high stakes combat to the death like Sir Gawain and Gologras. I can't believe how po-faced some posters here are being. Would you not ever lighten up? Someone upthread suggested reporting Willy to Social Services "you know where he lives" and I just snorted out loud in laughter.

They should have jousted instead.
It’s not like they lack horse- power or a tilt yard.
I can understand why William gets frustrated with Harold.

Just wondering how long it will be before someone posts a youtube series testing dog bowl breakage scenarios

ThighMistress · 05/01/2023 11:20

I notice that the usual die-hard Supporters have not been on this thread (apart from one or two “it’s violence!” ones. I think this says it all, really.

Re the leaking, I agree with a pp that it was leaked on purpose to increase pre-orders as once it’s published the interesting bits will
be everywhere so no need to buy.

I’m going to start seeing him as Dog Bowl Harry. I already see his wife as David Brent. They make a great cringe comedy duo. Perhaps they could be given a sit com. 😁

Harold will be dogged by them.
What a daft Chappie.

ShepherdMoons · 05/01/2023 11:21

I can't imagine William just suddenly decided to manhandle his brother. It's like Harry is constantly needling his brother because he wants William to participate in a war of words with the Sussexes. It must be killing William and his father to keep a dignified silence but I imagine they understand that most people are intelligent and do not jump to conclusions. Harry has absolutely no proof of anything and really it's just his version of events that he's airing.

Total victim blaming.

The thread if full of victim blaming mentality. No wonder victims don’t come forward and feel shame. If they don’t look and act like people think they should, they’re not believed or laughed at.

If he dares show his pouting face in Britain again, I expect him to be greeted by adoring dog bowl waving crowds.

It must be soul-destroying that the only way you have to make money is by doing tell-alls like a ginger Kerry Katona.

amyneedssleep · 05/01/2023 11:24

There are a lot of worrying posts on this thread. Being someone's sibling doesn't give you the right to put your hands on them aggressively. As children, yes, you can forgive it (but it absolutely shouldn't be excused as normal.) As adults? It's unacceptable.

Interestingly, it turns out that this was not a new story - it was covered by Robert Lacey in his book about William and Harry, and picked up and published elsewhere in 2021 - in People Magazine, for example.

In that version however, Harry was not calm - he angrily refused to talk to William over the phone about the accounts that Meghan was bullying their shared staff., So feelings were high on both sides from the outset (unsurprisingly).

"Lacey's book describes an angry confrontation between the princes – first over the phone and then in person when William asked Harry about the bullying claims.

When Harry flared up in furious defense of his wife, the elder brother persisted," reads an excerpt. "Harry shut off his phone angrily, so William went to speak to him personally. The prince was horrified by what he had just been told about Meghan's alleged behavior, and he wanted to hear what Harry had to say. The showdown between the brothers was fierce and bitter."

Probably the most interesting comment on the thread.
Nothing like a re telling….

ShepherdMoons · 05/01/2023 11:24

@SomewhereYouNeverBeenTo but you only have one side of the story. How can you work out if Harry is a victim or if he's also a perpetrator of violence? Did he push William first? Did he shout in his face or throw a punch at him? We only have one side of the story and likely this is sensationalised because Harry needs to sell books.

Yes because this book is the cathartic a tale of a victim. Not a circus.

They don't have a tiltyard unfortunately. It's horseguards parade now. But they do have a dog bowl.

What happens usually is: Harry or Meghan do something and the usual crowd fills at least a couple of threads with outrage. Given the speed of this one on a weekday after the Christmas break maybe it suggests supporters are more likely to be in gainful employment? And on that note I'd better log off!
