The royal family

Do Harry and Meghan realise hardly anyone supports them?

So everywhere there seems to be complete negativity towards the Netflix documentary and the autobiography coming out. They seem to be universally slated as whingers.
so how much do you think this feeds back to them? It must be v easy to live in a bubble with close supporters telling them they are doing a grand job. But how much reality do you think gets through of how badly they are coming across,

Everyone I know is unsupportive

Sounds like you might live in a bubble of people who just have very similar views and media consumptions to yourself. That's not a bad thing or a good thing, but just not a representation of a country.....

upfucked · 02/01/2023 22:04

I’m not a fan of there thought leaders/influencer stuff that’s no different to the rest of of the royals I think they both have mental health issues and are lashing out in a way which is making things worse for themselves. I’m aware there will be plenty of people out there who do support them.

DollyDoofer · 02/01/2023 22:05

I support them. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t.

I work internationally in my job and while this might seem a minor spat they are painting the whole of the U.K. in a negative light. I do think they are causing much wider damage than most people think and are creating a negative view of the U.K. abroad.

Get a life.

I'm also supportive of them. I certainly don't fall for the awful stuff published about them in the tabloids. I'm old enough to believe that the truth will always out at some point. There's much more to this and I certainly believe there's been a deal done with the tabloids to protect certain senior royals. Harry and Meghan could have been a breath of fresh air and could have made the monarchy relevant. But of course their charisma and work ethic overshadowed other members of the family.

This!! Agree that they have been hounded very unfairly.

urbanbuddha · 02/01/2023 22:06

I feel sorry for them but I don’t think they’re handling the situation well. They both seem to have mental health issues and playing everything out in public won’t be helping.

Other countries already had a negative view of the UK before harry and Meghan.

Also, meghan was referring to private vows (not legally binding) she and Harry made 3 days before the actual wedding. I doubt she thought this meant they were actually married.

Spck · 02/01/2023 22:06

@Tomatoblush why is it wrong to worry about how the U.K. is perceived abroad if you work in international trade?

I support them. The media has done so much to discredit them. I don't know how they've coped and as the the creaking monarchy, it's stuck in the 1950s and unfit for modern life.

PrincessofWellies · 02/01/2023 22:07

It isn't the stuff the tabloids write about them that is the problem. It is the actual words that are coming out of Harry and Meghans mouths that are obviously lies.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 02/01/2023 22:07

I don't read the Mail

I think they have been treated badly by the press.

I believe if they wanted this so called quiet life of privacy they wouldn't keep doing books interviews tv shows.

So they are basically feeding their own trolls.

MassiveSalad22 · 02/01/2023 22:08

I think they’re fine. I like them. I think it’s perplexing how people adore Diana and absolutely despise Meghan and Harry.

DonutCrossMeIEatYou · 02/01/2023 22:09

I’m less interested in them than I am in the dust bunny that’s been taunting me since last week.

I still find H&M more interesting than the rest of the Royals, so in that respect I “support” them.

I mean, they’re a pair of self-serving narcissists but at least they’re creating waves. And Meghan rescued her two dogs, so extra points for that too.

Spck · 02/01/2023 22:09

@PrincessofWellies exactly! It only takes a small bit of research to see how much they are lying about or not really being clear about.

I haven't met a single person who supports them (obviously I only find out if it happens to come up in conversation) so there may be lots of "closet" supporters.

roarfeckingroarr · 02/01/2023 22:10

I don't know anyone in RL who likes them. Opinions range from total indifference to finding them intensely hypocritical and ultimately pathetic

TheFairyCaravan · 02/01/2023 22:10

Snickers94 · 02/01/2023 22:01

As Jeremy Clarkson said, older age groups tend to despise them while younger ones don't, apparently.

I support them and believe their claims. I'm a younger millennial. I just can't fathom why Meghan would lie about being suicidal when we saw the amount of negative press she got. That's enough to drive anyone to the edge!

I’m in my fifties and I support them. MIL is 82, she loves them.

JadeSeahorse · 02/01/2023 22:10

Not just millennials and non white people who are supportive.

I am over 60, white, Irish and most definitely team H & M. 👍

Wouldn't trust the rest of the RF as far as I could throw them.

OnaBegonia · 02/01/2023 22:10

The U.K. press and the way they fawn over the Royal Family is nauseating, the sheer volume of negative articles about H&M is ridiculous, it's known in the past that the press have agreed to step back and censor what is printed yet nothing has been done to protect Meghan from the bile printed, which points to Charles et al being happy to throw them under the bus.
And to not allow Harry to wear his uniform at his grandmothers funeral was the most petty move, he has served yet Anne & Charles in full regalia and never saw a day of service.
Everyone I know sympathise with H&M.

SirVixofVixHall · 02/01/2023 22:11

I agree that it seems highly implausible given MM’s age, career and degree that she didn’t look into the reality of being in the Royal Family. Chelsea Davey was also not British and clearly did look into it and decide it wasn’t what she wanted.

The UK is doing that by themselves. Brexit, Boris, the state of crisis we're in. None of this is to do with H&M

DollyDoofer · 02/01/2023 22:05

I support them. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t.

I don't support them. I think they need to get a bloody grip, pipe down and crack on with doing something useful and positive.

They are bloody irritating. And lacking in self-awareness.

snapdragon12 · 02/01/2023 22:13

I'm unsupportive of them based on actual words which have left their mouths rather than tabloid opinion pieces. I'm shocked that anyone can listen to them talking, read their words and not see very clearly what a pair of
toxic grifters they both are.

It wasn't petty. Ann and Charles are still serving as head of their respective regiments.

Spck · 02/01/2023 22:13

Of course portraying the country and a racist country has a negative view of the U.K.
