Do Harry and Meghan realise hardly anyone supports them?

So everywhere there seems to be complete negativity towards the Netflix documentary and the autobiography coming out. They seem to be universally slated as whingers.
so how much do you think this feeds back to them? It must be v easy to live in a bubble with close supporters telling them they are doing a grand job. But how much reality do you think gets through of how badly they are coming across,

Absolutely.

I hate to tell you this but I’ve got a pantry. 😉

I am sooooo jealous! I would love love love a pantry. For all the crap that clutters up my kitchen!

Blossomtoes · 11/01/2023 16:57

It is nice @Roussette. I haven’t got a utility though - does that make you feel better?

MrsTag · 11/01/2023 17:02

barnbaby · 11/01/2023 12:51

I support Harry and have bought the book for my children to read so they can learn from a man who is trying to learn and grown.

You must be kidding - with some of the things he says in there about various women? You think he is a good example?

barnbaby · 11/01/2023 17:13

@MrsTag much better example than his bro. Harry sowed his oats when he was young and is now a faithful dedicated husband. Meanwhile the heir to the throne….less so.

Yes!

And I am just getting my utility refitted after 22 years of cheap units and being in a right old state. Just taken a call from the bloke helping with it, how I can get excited about this, I don't know, but I am Grin

We’ve just had a new kitchen after 23 years, including a refit of the pantry. I keep going and stroking it so I totally get the excitement.

Novella4 · 11/01/2023 17:20

I haven't caught up on this thread but I see recent posts and talk about food banks
It's a disgrace that Tory governments have created the need for food banks and werent shamed into acting when food banks first appeared .

We have no idea how much Charles actually donated - it is all rollled in with other donations.
The fact is this is not good news. It will be poor houses next.
People should not be dependent on largesse at the whim of donations from the rich . I'd be impressed when Charles pays inheritance tax and obeys all laws , esp financial laws ans pays for his unnecessary 100 million PR coronation
If he paid for the coronation himself I would have little objection to it

We do! Actually we agree on just about everything except the monarchy. 😀

Floomobal · 11/01/2023 17:46

They seem like the types who endlessly Google themselves, so I’m sure they know that many many people think they’re whinging wankers

Quirrelsotherface · 11/01/2023 18:08

No one I know supports them and all believe that Harry has lost the plot. The way it's unfolding makes it so clear that Meghan had a game plan.
I spoke to a friend in Australia this week who said that opinion is overwhelming negative there, too.

MarshaMelrose · 11/01/2023 18:37

MrsMaxDeWinter · 11/01/2023 16:14

That's the kind of structural thinking I was calling for, thank you. Not just accepting, as @MarshaMelrose does, that food banks are inevitable and aren't the royals wonderful to donate to them.

It's weird to use food banks as publicity for royals!!

If we have food banks, isn't it best that they are able to provide the maximum amount to local people? They often have to turn food away because they don't have the facilities to store it above the very short-term.
The King visited a foodbanks and listened to their problems and concerns. He then bought hundreds of fridges and freezers which have been gratefully received.
It's weird to me, that you'd rather foodbanks threw wasted food away rather than accept a donation that would help people because that donation came from royalty.

I think my comments about structural inequality went over your head, but it's okay. We don't have to understand each other or even agree.

MarshaMelrose · 11/01/2023 22:29

Fair enough. Abolish structural inequality. But back in the real world of the here and now, wouldn't you prefer for foodbanks to have more food available to feed an increased number of people rather than having to reject food donations or throw food away? That's why they're grateful to the king.
It's very noble to work towards Utopia but those ideals don't feed hungry people today.

Just for interest I looked at SussexSquad. I don’t know how big this group is, but they are absolutely bonkers. They worship M&H with boyband-type fervour and the comments I saw were quite vitriolic about the rf. of course Harry’s book was the truth because it is His truth. I wonder what or who a typical SussexSquadder is.

Roussette · 11/01/2023 23:03

I can't imagine seeking out and reading what obsessives write, if they pop up on my feed I mute them.

Bit like Piers Morgan on the other side!

I looked too...a lot of derogatory comments about white people. I saw slurs like 'chalky bitches' come up a few times to describe people who showed some support to W&K or who criticised H&M, which I reported. I don't mind H&M but the SussexSquad are fanatical and nasty with it.

There are a few of them on here - they have had their posts deleted for racism, misogyny and ageism - they are still here @MrsMaxDeWinter but they are now more careful with the language they use in their posts.

The Sussex Squad is driven by black women from the UK, Caribbean, Africa. They are very active on Black Twitter, and are good at raising money, eg for Archie's birthday. They take no prisoners. On the whole I find their energy positive, not destructive. Their nickname from the other side is the Sugars, heh heh.

In contrast are the ones they call the Derangers, who worship the Royal Family, especially Kate Middleton, and who tend to be a white women from the UK, US, Australia and South Africa. They are obsessed with Meghan's race. The looniest of them peddle conspiracy theories about pregnancies and doll babies and borrowed children. It's all a bit batshit because if the conspiracies are taken to their logical conclusion. It means the Royal Family and UK government has been complicit in a cover up, that the Queen was grinning down at a doll or borrowed baby, that they christened a borrowed child, Archbishop Tutu met a borrowed child. It's delightfully loony.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 12/01/2023 11:17

@Ticketyboots

I am not a member of the Sussex Squad. Trust me, if they were here, you would know!! I actually find their fervour terrifying, but their energy is positive as they channel it towards fundraising etc. They are not nearly batshit nutty as the other side who use overt racism, and conspiracy theories, not to mention photoshopping pictures.

Serenster · 12/01/2023 11:21

Oh they photoshop pictures all the time! It ranges from photoshopping Harry and Meghan’s faces onto photos of William and Kate to the definitely vile photoshopping pictures to make it look like Kate wasn’t wearing knickers (in a upskirt photo taken by a paparazzi photographer when she was getting into a taxi as a young woman).

That’s without mentioning the threats of death and violence….

Harry and Meghan interact with them too.

Ohnonevermind · 12/01/2023 11:23

@MrsMaxDeWinter

I find both sides equally deranged. I have seen nasty comments made by this squad about William’s children, and I have seen comments made about Harry’s children

You either need to condemn both or either for the same actions even if they raise a hit of money, it’s really not an excuse

As for the racist language used by this sussex squad, they’re clearly an ignorant bunch. I did read one exchange where the penny finally dropped about succession rule which was funny (SS ‘I just realised even if William is taken out Harry wouldn’t be king’ until they joked about taking out the family for Harry (well I hope they were joking) .Is that the positive energy you mean ?

Good for you Roussette hope it goes well. You should ask Harry to open it in a sort of Joe Lycett way. 😀

Then their is the David Icke squad who think they are part of the Reptilian Elite.

The conspiracy theorist and New Age philosopher, who wore only turquoise for a time and insisted on being called Son of God-Head, says these "Annunaki" (the reptiles) have controlled humankind since ancient times; they count among their number Queen Elizabeth, George W. Bush, Henry Kissinger, Bill and Hillary Clinton and Bob Hope. Encroaching on other conspiracy theorists' territory, Icke even claims that the lizards are behind secret societies like the Freemasons and the Illuminati. Since earning the dubious title of "paranoid of the decade" in the late 1990s, Icke has written several books on the topic, including his latest work, The David Icke Guide to the Global Conspiracy, while operating his own website — complete with merchandise and advertisements.
