Is a piece of shit. I refuse to link to his article in which he explicitly says he hates her and can't wait for the day he can physically assault her.

Can the Kate sycophants tell me again how this all happened to her and is totally normal and acceptable?

Wasn’t the whole point of Cersei’s walk of shame was that it was meant to humble her but it just made her more vengeful?

I didn’t like Cersei but even I felt disgusted and sad for her having to go through that ordeal. It was filmed in a way to show that the High Sparrow, Septa Una, the Sparrows and the crowd were the ones in the wrong. They pretend to be so superior and virtuous compared to the extravagant ‘slut’ Queen Cersei, but they were just judgemental, preachy arseholes who got off by humiliating people and telling them (mainly women and gay men) what to do. Hmm, who does that sound like?

If that really was the analogy he was going for (the other thing doesn’t bear thinking about), I think that scene was really lost on him.

lollipoprainbow · 18/12/2022 12:00

@rumship how do you know?? She shouldn't be seen to be schmoozing with either of them whether she invited them or not makes no difference. From what I can see she hasn't exactly gone out of her way to make Meghan feel very welcome and this latest episode proves how she feels about her.

ImaginaryDragon · 18/12/2022 12:02

raspberrytinsel · 18/12/2022 11:56

Didn't see the word fantasy/fantasise anywhere in the article? Be very very accurate.

Is that you JC. What's with the threatening tone? 'Be very very accurate' Just wow!

monsteramunch · 18/12/2022 12:05

Here you go @raspberrytinsel

"At night, I'm unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, "Shame!" and throw lumps of excrement at her."

So let's be super specific and change 'fantasises' to 'dreams about', then I'll ask again:

Do you not on a visceral level feel disgusted by what he said? No matter what your thoughts on H&M / free speech are?

Did you have the same reaction as many of us that it was a shocking, violent and disturbing thing to say?

ImaginaryDragon · 18/12/2022 12:08

This

SallyLockheart · 18/12/2022 12:09

you can't just change the wording of an article to suit your own view.

he's expressing his personal view - there is no incitement to violence there.

I am actually quite flattered and yet amazed that you found that threatening in tone which yet again underscores my previous points.

monsteramunch · 18/12/2022 12:09

And to 'be specific' as requested, @raspberrytinsel, here's the dictionary definition of 'dreaming of' something:

dream about/of something
phrasal verb with dream verb

UK /driːm/ US /driːm/

dreamed or dreamt | dreamed or dreamt

to thinkk* about something that you wantt* very much:
I dreamm^ of one dayy^ workingg^ for myself and not having a bosss^.

SnottyLottie · 18/12/2022 12:09

@lollipoprainbow it wasn’t Camilla’s lunch. It was a lunch headed by the former head grocer of Fortnum & Masons. I don’t think she had any control or say in the guest list.

Please don’t put Camilla down to lift Meghan up. I doubt even Meghan herself would want you to do that. She’s a feminist.

rumship · 18/12/2022 12:10

@monsteramunch Now do that again with the entire article so we can gain the context and style of how it was written and meant to be taken. Also is that his usual style of writing or is it only this specific piece? 🙄

I can also quote stand up comedy and present singular quotes and horrify every one but then again that would be quoting out of context.

SallyLockheart · 18/12/2022 12:14

the previous weeks article was

"I had an argument with someone- we couldn't agree how awful meghan is".

That is the whole point of media - the more you put yourself out there, with your "own truth" views and accusations, then you have to be prepared for people to come back at you with their "own truth" views and thoughts.

@monsteramunch that is called 'cherrypicking' the research (please don't tell me you work in science, because that would be a desperate grab on any hypothesis) :the no.1. definition of dreaming is: a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person's mind during sleep. Anyway if you have to stoop to dictionary definitions to make a point you know you are in trouble.

Do you think anything in it makes that passage re 'dreaming of' her being publicly stripped naked and having excrement thrown at her any less disturbing?

raspberrytinsel · 18/12/2022 12:23

He should be allowed to criticise as they do for a lot more money than he earns. I want to be allowed to say that is not right or that is wrong and if I am paid money to do so, of course I will add bells and whistles to what I am saying. The outrage is quite unbelievable.

He's been writing like this forever.

It's his style. It's been very successful, his fans drive for hours to queue up at his farm and buy the shop stock.

It's a type of humour. We all have different preferences.

smartblogger.com/types-of-humor/

His is pretty lowbrow. (As was GoT).

If he's winding you up though, you are providing him with a laugh.

W0tnow · 18/12/2022 12:27

17 pages. Not read them all. Not read the article, just that one paragraph.

It reads like some grotty, debased sex fantasy. Why naked? Why people throwing actual shit at her? He has a partner, no? Surely she must feel some level of mortification and disgust at what the man she is supposed to love has written? I know I would. I can’t bear, oh, I don’t know…Katie Hopkins. But if someone wrote that about her I’d be equally shocked. I’m stunned it went to print.

The context and style is the usual ramblings of JC as he does with many other people, this is also in the sun.

So the fact you are taking his words quite litterly, shows you are not his target audience and you are practicing what I would call cancelled culture over something you do not like.

It's quite obvious he is quoting GOT, and putting it to his viewers as a satirical dig at his hatred Megan. That's his opinion and his usual style of writing, so Like most other intelligent people we ignore it.

Maybe you would prefer a Chinese media where every view and all the internet is strictly controlled. 🙄

SnottyLottie · 18/12/2022 12:28

His misogyny doesn’t surprise me when you see the same sort of misogyny being thrown around on Mumsnet.

I saw one post on here calling various members of the royal family ‘mean girls’ because they happen to be wearing the same festive coloured coats to a Christmas service. What an absolutely bitchy comment, pitting women against each other just to suit people’s agendas and narratives. It’s the same as people gloating about Camilla attending the same party as Jeremy Clarkson, not so subtly hinting they are in cahoots with this article. And make no mistake, it works the other way too!

What has that got to do with anything? There’s misogyny in the royal family, there’s misogyny in the media and it seeps down into the public consciousness. That’s how the likes of Jeremy Clarkson think they can get away with it. We need to stop pitting women against each other.

The biggest problems I can see in the Royal Family is Charles & William’s explosive tempers, Harry’s anger issues and Andrew’s predatory behaviour. Yet everyone seems to focus on Kate, Camilla and Meghan 🙄

Sadly, misogyny never comes as a surprise lately.

I don’t know why we waste our time trying to point out that’s what happened here, or to convince anyone who defends it that it’s not ok. These people know what it is and think it’s just fine.

AliceOlive · 18/12/2022 12:37

@raspberrytinsel I quite enjoyed seeing you respond in exactly the way I expected.
