Is a piece of shit. I refuse to link to his article in which he explicitly says he hates her and can't wait for the day he can physically assault her.

Can the Kate sycophants tell me again how this all happened to her and is totally normal and acceptable?

But what Jeremy Clarkson said it utterly indefensible. What an unmitigated cunt he is

And I think you calling him a cnt, OP calling PM a cnt and JC a "piece of shit* is disgusting. Not nearly as bad as what JC wrote about Meghan but when they go low, we should go higher.

why can't he have an opinion though? Everyone else can on anything be it true or not. Where does it start and end?

raspberrytinsel · 18/12/2022 08:14

shame on you Op for bringing Kate into it?? Clickbait.

Well, everyone has their truth, but that doesn't make it appropriate to publish it.

Some is hate speech, which can be prosecuted, and that 'starts and ends' with a jury.

Some is just offensive bilge which should not be published (even if it falls short of criminality). But if it is, then it's dealt with by either ignoring it (trolls grow if fed) or by feedback to the publishers.

Outright censorship needs considerable care, because it is so easily abused. But calling out shite as shite is open to us all

Anklespraying · 18/12/2022 08:19

I went on a cruise recently and there was a GoT tour in Dubrovnik. Hugely popular. We all wanted to do the walk of shame. Everyone joined in with the chorus! Honestly, it's fun!

It is fun, fantasy, role play, just like being a Duchess!

raspberrytinsel · 18/12/2022 08:24

@VikingVolva But calling out shite as shite is open to us all true, but one person's shite is another's gold dust.

Why cant we finally have a world where women are truly equal and dont have to put up with sexism

Why can't I get one through one year in this country where I dont have to hear one racist comment said to me

🤷‍♀️ I guess u think thats someone's opinion trumps my right to just get on with my life peacefully and treated equally like many other people can

Lampzade · 18/12/2022 08:26

He is a misogynistic pig. Anyone who tries to defend him is an idiot

Did you all sink the ship at the end though with a film crew and a door big enough for two people? 🤔

Why do people choose this woman as a feminist ideal, she does not speak for me, look harder, look beyond the celebrity. She is an easy grasp.

DewinDwl · 18/12/2022 08:32

If the RF had any sense they would speak out now.

JC's article is abhorrent but sadly not surprising in the context of the relentless wave of hate towards MM. MN is awful for it and the mainstream papers just don't get it. Today they are doing more clickbait and no self-reflection.

Whatever your opinion about MM & PH, JC has just made it starkly clear that they were right to leave the UK. Look around you - a country where men kill 2 women a week and nobody does anything; where rape is effectively decriminalised; where the London police force harbours rapists and stalkers; where the police are regularly deployed by men to silence women who want to protect their spaces; where people bend over backwards to defend Lady Hussey's behaviour and JC is met with a shrug. What would you make of such a society if you were MM? I used to think the Sussexes exaggerated their safety risk but clearly they were right and I was wrong.

MarshaBradyo · 18/12/2022 08:34

I don’t think RF should speak out. It’s a mess and people are calling out for input and more drama but they should just ignore.

I wasn't referring to her, I was responding to a poster who said JC is allowed his opinion

And actually now u said that she speaks more ro me than Kate does. At least Megan speaks up for herself and stands up to racism which is what I now do. I no longer stay silent and I will speak back when I am faced with it.

HeadNorth · 18/12/2022 08:34

It is amazing posters cannot recognise that the horrific bile that has been spewing all over Mumsnet in the past few days has contributed to Jeremy Clarkson's ability to publish such a violently misogynist rant.

The Overton window is the window of discourse that is acceptable in a society at that time. The MM hate on Mumsnet has widened that window to allow journalists and editors to publish more extreme and overtly misogynistic abuse, confident that MM has been sufficiently dehumanised in people's minds.

Caroline Flack, Diane, Britney Spears. Beautiful women that are considered flawed or to have 'sinned' are fair game for the press equivalent of the stocks and public shame. And the good women on Mumsnet are the ones throwing the rotten fruit while salivating in self righteous joy.

Anyone who has contributed to the online abuse of MM - read Jeremey Clarkson's piece and acknowledge your contribution - do you feel proud?

And your speak is the issue here. Markle is not a figurehead for women in society, no matter what word salad she uses. You are again conflating it all together. Nobody moves forward. Everyone is allowed an opinion, that is allowed, once that is not allowed, we are in trouble.

Nope. Mumsnet or women (neither Kate or Camilla) are responsible for this man’s awful column. Let’s repeat that. Women are not responsible for the actions of an individual man who is a terrible person.

I do think there’s constant ‘MM’ threads. But I disagree that it’s abuse. Abuse would be deleted. While I think some people are unpleasant about MM, I think people jump to the word ‘abuse’ far too quickly. Anything but complete support for her is labelled abuse.

I do agree that some people wouldn’t like her regardless of what she does. However there’s a difference between expressing dislike and ‘Horrific Bile’ or ‘abuse’.

Coxspurplepippin · 18/12/2022 08:46

BarrelOfOtters are you watching Laura Kuensberg? Could you give a brief rundown of the interview? I can't get to the TV but I'd be interested to know how they worm their way out.

wishingyouwell · 18/12/2022 08:48

Interesting that he doesn't express hatred for the paedophile on a cellular level.

Greenfairydust · 18/12/2022 08:48

I am not a fan of M & H but his language is unacceptable.

I have no idea why this deeply unpleasant man is still allowed a platform in the media.

No idea what your references are? It would be nice if you dismounted off your high horse. I won't discuss Caroline Flack, I don't know who Diane is and Britney, well that is a fairly apparent phenomenon in itself which doesn't really fit into this discussion. Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

HeadNorth · 18/12/2022 08:51

Nice try, but my point is, Jeremy Clarkson is not writing in a vaccuum. His editor made the decision to publish on the basis there would be a receptive audience. The vile threads on Mumsnet contributed to a moment in society when it was judged acceptable to publish that level of violent misogyny. So I am afraid you don't get to duck responsibility that easily (and neither does the RF that used H&M as shields, since you chose to bring them into it).

User135644 · 18/12/2022 08:53

And most of mumsnet will be cheering him on. What does he think of Prince Andrew? Does he inspire such hatred?

The right wing media have absolutely poisoned this country. It goes back to Thatcher using them as an ally. Murdoch poisons everything.
