Calling Harry 'H'

Am I the only one who finds it very odd to hear Harry being called 'H' or is it an American/British thing?

I'm not from either countries so have no idea but every time I hear it from Meghan it just feels like scratching chalkboard.

The attitude to this woman is insane. I fully expect to see a thread complaining that she is breathing contemptuously of the king or blinking in a way that dehumanises her husband. It is really weird.

That said, even though it is very common form of nickname/pet name, the H and M thing reminds me of the new Mrs Elton in Emma with her Mr. E and her caro sposo

😁 love it! but I assure you our family are nothing like her and we have an H!

I don’t think it’s at all weird to have a pet name for your husband, it just seems a bit off to use it in this scenario.

My Dad was called Harry and lots of people
called him ‘H’. Poor Megan is literally being dragged over the coals for everything! Can’t even give her Husband a nickname.

People called him H when he was in the military too.
We ‘lived’ with Harry (H) for almost 2 years and multiple people on camp called him it.

I thought it could be a privacy thing. So they could talk to each other and about each other without worrying about who was listening.

Why are people being critical of what they call each other? 🙄
