Last thread has filled up so I thought I'd create another to chat trailers and teasers while we hang about waiting for better more truth bombs to drop in the main event.

Ooo thank you @Hughsrunning yes very misleading then - I even read part of the article and it wasn’t evident!!

GrouchyKiwi · 15/12/2022 17:31

I thought the photos in that article looked like computer images Hughsrunning so thanks for the confirmation.

But you can tell that the ceiling in that room, at least, isn't so low someone would bash their head on it...

Rinoachicken · 15/12/2022 17:32

Although if you scroll up there is a ‘before’ image of what the room used to look like before - so the room itself is correct, it’s just the decor that’s imaged.

susan12345678 · 15/12/2022 17:33

I suspect they were assuming/hoping that viewers (especially US viewers) wouldn't realise that it was exactly the same accommodation that was given to Will and Kate after their marriage and imagine that they were being badly treated?

"As far as people were concerned we were living in a palace. [But] we were living in a cottage," Harry said. "On palace grounds," the duke added before Meghan said: " Kensington Palace sounds very regal of course, it does say palace in the name. But Nottingham Cottage was small." Harry commented: "The whole thing was really small on a slight lean with low ceilings," before he jokingly added: "Whoever lived their before must have been small." Meghan, meanwhile, revealed that her husband hit his head constantly "because he's so tall". She adds: "It was a chapter in our lives where I don't think anyone could believe what it was actually like behind-the-scenes." Harry then reveals that chat show legend Oprah came over for tea and was stunned by where they were living. "No one would ever believe it," she reportedly told the pair.

This is what really confuses me - “whoever lives there before” - he knows exactly who lives there before it was his brother!!!

friendlycat · 15/12/2022 17:35

But why are they complaining about Nottingham Cottage when they were then subsequently given Frogmore Cottage (a much bigger property) and renovated this at a cost of over £2.4 million pounds worth of taxpayers money? Accepting that they paid the renovation costs back when they moved abroad.

Also as others have pointed out, W & K happily lived in Nottingham Cottage for over 2 years without any complaint.

How on earth H can complain about his Dad gatekeeping the millions of family money as well. Well of course he bloody well does.

Then top off with Meghan recounting how a senior member of cabin crew on her flight thanked her for "services to our country".

It would appear they are both as deluded as each other.

CathyorClaire · 15/12/2022 17:38

I've come to the conclusion that it's folie a deux, they seem to be in a bubble where everyone else is wrong, they perceive things in a different way to everyone else and they encourage each other in the stupidity.

I have thought this for a while. Each of them working the other into an us against the world froth.

I haven't had a chance to see any of it yet but I do find the Wills 'shouting' claims credible. He's long been reputed to have the temper of Satan although the reality may be more likely to have been a raised voice now over-egged for dramatic effect.

Wonder if Harry is thinking he missed a trick in not getting Charles in the frame too after his ill-tempered outbursts at truculent pens.

This is what it looked like after Harry and Meghan redecorated - hardly a pokey slum!

That's not the case @Rinoachicken

I think they’ve just photoshopped different soft furnishings onto the original pic also in the article.

MardyHa · 15/12/2022 17:43

I thought Harry lived there for a few years before meeting Meghan, so not something done to them as a couple, more his bachelor pad attached to the palace?

Harry, Meghan and Netflix too

This is what really confuses me - “whoever lives there before” - he knows exactly who lives there before it was his brother!!!

Indeed, and he knows his brother is taller than him! The height difference may be a sore point? After all, Harry apparently wore some Tom Cruise-style lift shoes when they appeared together at the Diana statue unveiling...

How the heck did Harry bump his head on that ceiling several times?

Rinoachicken · 15/12/2022 17:46

@Baltic59 yes I’ve noted that already thank you - it was my mistake for believing the title and not carefully reading the article

Baltic59 · 15/12/2022 17:50

Although if you scroll up there is a ‘before’ image of what the room used to look like before - so the room itself is correct, it’s just the decor that’s imaged.

The "before" photo is also credited to blinds 2 go. How would they have taken a photo of the interior of Nottingham Cottage?
I don't think there's any proof it's there at all.
Google images don't bring up interior pics . And not that one.

Rinoachicken · 15/12/2022 17:52

It was redecorated by William and Kate when they lived there, and Harry lived there alone from 2013, and apparently installed a hammock - it’s hardly a derelict slum.

His comment about ‘whoever lived here before must have been short’ is just ridiculous when he knows full well William and Kate lived there before him!

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 15/12/2022 17:56

I can't help but think Harry has married the wrong American. He should have married Bill Bryson. Bill would have been thrilled with Nottingham Cottage.

Quaint and picturesque would have been right up his street.

Admittedly Bill's a man, but otherwise he would have been perfect.

Ah well ...

Shrinosontoast · 15/12/2022 17:57

I found it really weird in the part where Meghan reads out the statement from the royal family, allegedly for the first time, she doesn’t react in any way to the phrase ‘recollections may vary’.

Her voice doesn’t waver, she doesn’t pause…. So odd when the statement suggests their truth may not be the truth. I don’t understand why they don’t see that for the bombshell it is. Is that whole scene staged? Had they read the statement before? When I first heard that statement I raised an eyebrow at ‘recollections may vary’. Didn’t everyone?

Serenster · 15/12/2022 17:59

I was particularly interested by the comments of their lawyer from the firm Schillings, Jenny Afia. She referred to the fact that a senior member of Kate and Wiliam's office (Jason Knauf), gave witness statement in Mail on Sunday legal case saying "sadly there is no way he could have done that without the authority of his bosses".

What Jenny Afia doesn’t mention is that Jason Knauf was telling the truth in his witness statement, with emails and texts to prove it, and so proved Meghan was lying. What Jenny also hasn’t mentioned was that Meghan herself had already approached Jason Knauf to give evidence for her, but he had consistently refused requests from both sides until after the Oprah interview aired, by which stage he must have realised that Meghan was throwing her staff at the Palace under the bus.

If Jason Knauf did approach William for permission, all he would have needed to say was that the Duchess of Sussex was misleading he court and was it okay for him to go and ensure the true facts were before the Judge. I’m not sure William can be criticised for giving him permission to tell the truth.

As a lawyer and an offficer of the court, Jenny should have realised that was not “sad”, but appropriate. Though she had every right to be spitting tacks at her own client for lying to her. And yet seemingly it’s not Meghan she’s criticising here…

I'm sure Meghan had watched other Royal Weddings on TV and was fully aware that crowds would line the streets.

I can only think that she said that she wasn't aware thisi would happen in order to try to get the public to view her in a different way.

MM watched W&K’s wedding, and posted about it on her blog “The Tig”. I don’t think that it was massively flattering either!! She obviously would have known all about the crowds for a royal wedding.

Rinoachicken · 15/12/2022 18:04

Even more interesting are the statements at the end of the episode with Knauf firmly contesting their version and their response to his response.

”This happened”
”No, it was like this”
”You’re lying so there!”

But I thought she didn’t know anything the royals, or who Harry was???

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 15/12/2022 18:06

I tell you what would make a brilliant series - one by Catherine. No need for anything salacious. Just a behind the scenes glimpse in to the royal year.

I'm a rubbish Republican :( DP despairs. Thank god for MN.

I'm not sure that Jenny Afia's statement is even true. Attempting to prevent a witness from giving evidence to a court would be contempt of court and a very serious offence. So if Jason Knauf wanted to give evidence and his employers tried to stop him, there would have been a massive fuss which would certainly hit the headlines in a big way.

CoffeeBoy · 15/12/2022 18:10

I think the thing I dislike about them is how up their own arse they both are. I don’t know anyone else who could repeat the airplane bloke story and the Beyoncé story with a straight face. Even if they’re true (which I doubt it)

Serenster · 15/12/2022 18:10

Oh my goodness Rinoachicken, what idiots Schillings look!

(When it comes to throwing around allegations of leaking stories, I note that Schillings were recently heavily criticised by the court by sharing a strictly embargoed draft court judgement with their in-house PR adviser when they should have realised that was not acceptable - it was in another case they are acting for Prince Harry on. They are not a firm with the highest ethical standards themselves, it seems…)
