Last thread has filled up so I thought I'd create another to chat trailers and teasers while we hang about waiting for better more truth bombs to drop in the main event.

It makes me think that the firm have done a good job on protecting Harry and Andrew and covering how rude and obnoxious they are. Both have played the role of the loveable, boyish second son. (Interestingly, the one good thing I have read about Andrew is that he inspires unwavering loyalty from his own staff, no matter how rude he was to the Queen's courtiers).

Quinner · 15/12/2022 16:47

@ivykaty44 Of course celeb agents trade stories, we know this but trading stories on your brother is quite different and shows a side of William that is not in keeping with his ‘normal, straight up dad ‘ persona

thecatsthecats · 15/12/2022 16:48

Two thoughts:

Their complaints sit staggeringly badly next to the top news story of the young boys from Solihull.

And also, it gives you a renewed appreciation for how Colleen Rooney handled Wagatha Christie, doesn't it!? She made specific, clear accusations, good enough to stand up in a court of law. But was also willing to stand down the fight pre-court in favour of settling. She behaved with far more intelligence.

MardyHa · 15/12/2022 16:49

I wonder if they’re saying at the time they actually shared communications staff that this was happening, because that would be strange. I think if they believed staff were against them then presumably they could be quite brusque with them. Those staff are also doing stressful jobs presumably for very ordinary wages.

bakalava · 15/12/2022 16:55

Netflix won't get enough mileage out of this unless the royals crack and speak out. Right now, it is like two bitter rejectees throwing trays and trays of buns in the direction of London but they are too far away to hit any of their targets and start a fight.

funnystuff123 · 15/12/2022 16:57

I think Harry's mental health is hanging by a thread. I suspect M has encouraged him to dig up all wounds and in the process he's gone on a huge mission of self destruction. M knows she's ok. She can find someone far wealthier than Haitch when they split, a billionaire who puts H's money in the shade. And spend the rest of her life talking about how she exposed the racism in the royal family etc etc etc and the RF will be blamed as the reason for the divorce too.

Mumsnut · 15/12/2022 16:57

'I think they are totally right in that the media are appalling and if it’s true that Williams office gave stories on Harry to protect William well then shame on William.'

I think Harry was alleging a bit more than this, unless I have got the wrong end of the stick: that Meghan was becoming more popular then Kate, so the media were instructed - by William? His people? - to release stories diminishing Meghan

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 15/12/2022 16:57

That's assuming that it's true.

I havnt watched yet but is it true what I've read about them saying how small Nottingham cottage is and how Oprah came for tea and said it was so small she couldn't believe it? Why would you say that out loud? Do they really think that would garner sympathy? Nottingham cottage is 1,324 sqft... that is bigger than my house! And I am quite happy with the size of my house!! They are really outing how out of touch they are and what little self awareness they have by saying these things out loud as if they would garner sympathy. They quite clearly are pissed that they weren't treated the way they think royals should be treated because they weren't immediately given a massive castle to live in. They don't think they're just like us, they think they're better than us and deserve more than us and they don't even realise what they're saying proves it!

It's even more strange when you consider that more senior royals (Will and Kate) lived there without complaint until after George was born, when they moved to another ordinary-sized house in Wales.

So what was good enough for the heir to the throne wasn't good enough for them? Why?

"As far as people were concerned we were living in a palace. [But] we were living in a cottage," Harry said. "On palace grounds," the duke added before Meghan said: " Kensington Palace sounds very regal of course, it does say palace in the name. But Nottingham Cottage was small." Harry commented: "The whole thing was really small on a slight lean with low ceilings," before he jokingly added: "Whoever lived their before must have been small." Meghan, meanwhile, revealed that her husband hit his head constantly "because he's so tall". She adds: "It was a chapter in our lives where I don't think anyone could believe what it was actually like behind-the-scenes." Harry then reveals that chat show legend Oprah came over for tea and was stunned by where they were living. "No one would ever believe it," she reportedly told the pair.

MardyHa · 15/12/2022 17:08

I think it would be quite American to comment on the cuteness of something being small and old, but who knows.

So Harry would have seen his family after the shouting time but before this was released, Queen’s funeral etc, so wonder how that went knowing this was coming and whether there was any indication given of what would be included. I can imagine why William shouted if he did, not that it’s ok but I can imagine how stressful it would have been on both sides.

fartichoke · 15/12/2022 17:08

The cottage quotes are very much playing to the American whimsy of 'aww, don't the British live in tiny postcard cottages', but really smacks of peak snobbery and ingratitude

I actually think they've lost the plot. Who can come up with a defence for this? If I were OW (and Beyonce actually) I'd be so pissed off with this.

SnowlayRoundabout · 15/12/2022 17:12

Unifolorn · 15/12/2022 12:15

My heart broke when Harry spoke about his dad being in charge of the millions they have and gatekeeping it. When he said normal families wouldn't do that- our relatable Prince.

Well, absolutely. My dad was never in charge of our millions, and didn't gatekeep them. Mostly because we never had them. I'm SO delighted that he never did that, I really am exceptionally lucky. I don't know how Haz copes.

Rinoachicken · 15/12/2022 17:13

Imagine complaining about living for free in a cottage on a private estate, when so many families are living in hostels and hotels because they can’t afford housing.

They describe it as though they were in a slum that people would have been horrified by FFS

Yes, this really burns me up. How gullible do they think the public is? There are approximatey 8 billion humans on earth who will NEVER get to live at Kensington Palace, or in London for that matter, let alone in an historic cottage that was good enough for the future King and his bride.

To natter on and on about how "smaaaaaal.." it is, is just disgusting given the state of the world today. My house is 900 square feet and I'm lucky to have it, and it's plenty big enoug for two on a burning planet where we all should be reducing our footprint. What did they expect, the Queen would move out of Windsor and let them have it?

I just find them incredibly tone deaf, whingy and hypocritical, the more that comes out. You'd almost think their PR people were secretly working for the other side.

Meghan is on the far side of 40 and unlikely to attract any great roles in future. Harry has limited skill set. Why they detached themselves from their most optimal form of financial support and instead got involved in these degrading interview and documentary schemes is beyond me.

Rinoachicken · 15/12/2022 17:18

This is what it looked like after Harry and Meghan redecorated - hardly a pokey slum!

Harry, Meghan and Netflix too
MardyHa · 15/12/2022 17:19

A tent in Botswana is fine but a cottage in Royal Grounds is really slumming it. I think really they’re using this example as a way to justify some of the rest of the feeling hard done by. ‘We can say this because actually we’re not living a life of luxury.’ while being filmed in a mansion in California. I do get why they might have wanted to make their own choices of where to live etc and how that involves paying for it. It was probably quite nice to have their own small space though within the confines of somewhere that has the security in the grounds. I always thought that being inside a bigger palace would be stifling due to the proximity of other family members and staff / security. Or a bigger place where you have to have the security actually in the house with you. Would be quite nice to have privacy?

bakalava · 15/12/2022 17:20

Looking at the homes she lived in before Haitch turned up, I am surprised that she would feel compelled to say that. The constant competition with the other two must be exhausting.

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 15/12/2022 17:20

Is that a joke @Rinoachicken ??

fartichoke · 15/12/2022 17:21

It's very telling that they are both now only willing to do awards ceremonies or pre-recorded, one-sided interviews and 'documentaries'.

I 1 million percent bet they will never, ever appear on a live interview or talkshow ever again because they would not be able to substantiate their claims, or bear to be put on the spot, under even the gentlest line of unscripted questioning.

Rinoachicken · 15/12/2022 17:22

@Peasepuddingbloodycold

Sadly not - it was featured in Ideal Homes after they renovated.

www.idealhome.co.uk/news/prince-harry-meghan-markles-nottingham-cottage-makeover-203100

Harry moved in as a bachelor in 2013 and seemed to have no problem with it the

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 15/12/2022 17:28

Thank you @Rinoachicken Surely they know things like this will come up??

Back to Kensington, I think it seems healthy and wise to give young royals (whether bachelor or newlyweds) a cottage in the grounds rather than an apartment in the palace. Look at how Margaret and Diana felt stifled alongside elderly parents and aunts and uncles.

Goes off to google where Princess Alice lived...

Hughsrunning · 15/12/2022 17:29

Those pictures from Ideal Home were a reimagining by a blinds company, not actual photos of a renovation - the article title is misleading.

My house is around 1000sqft - Notts Cottage is not small to me!
