Can Charles remove Harry's 'prince' title

I've noticed that the Removal of Titles Bill is going through Parliament and people have been talking a lot about Harry and Meghan losing their titles. Does this just refer to the Duke and Duchess titles, or does this also include stripping Harry of being a prince?

His lawyers kept trying to get the case dismissed and failed. He had not yet been called to appear in court, but with the last dismissal that was inevitable.
And you are mixing up two things. This court case was not with the authorities, but a civil case that he paid out millions in settlement for.
The American authorities never managed to question Andrew. He gave no written answers. They appealed to the UK government for help to get Andrews co-operation, and got nowhere. So they dropped their enquiries as they realised Andrew was too protected to ever get anywhere with their enquiry.

He will never be Prince Henry of Wales again. If the dukedom were removed he would be The Prince Henry. As the child of a monarch he would not have a of at the end. Much like Princes Andrew and Edward were The Prince Andrew and The Prince Edward from birth. They never had the of Edinburgh attaches at the end. Until the queens ascension Prince Charles of Edinburgh and Princess Anne of Edinburgh were their titles but the moment she became Queen they changed to Charles, Duke of Cornwall and The Princess Anne.

As usual its all about Harry and most people ignoring Prince Andrew the alleged rapist and paedophile.

That is what the thread is about? Andrew is keeping his head down press wise and America is making no moves to prosecute him so where is the story?

pilates · 05/02/2024 07:05

There’s plenty of other threads if you want to discuss PA asrarpolar

That's kind of how it works on a thread about Harry....

asrarpolar · 05/02/2024 10:35

@pilates I never see any post here stick to the person it is about. So there is no reason why I can not talk about Prince Andrew.
Prince Andrew who still has paid security, a mansion, and has been to official events wearing his finery. But an alleged rapist and paedophile who gave a TV interview where he obviously lied, is still protected by the Royal family.

Samcro · 05/02/2024 10:38

@asrarpolar its funny how the rules only apply on H&M bash threads.
on the ones about the POW posters have derailed and made it about meghan.

He's not a paedophile.

asrarpolar · 05/02/2024 11:04

It is alleged that Prince Andrew took part in an orgy with children.

asrarpolar · 05/02/2024 11:05

Or did you miss that about Prince Andrew in the media? Lots of articles about the allegation if you want to read more.

As they say 'Link please'

@derxa and the media links go on for pages and pages. I am surprised you missed this in the media.

He was accused by 'Jane Doe' of having sex with girls who were under 18 but over 16. That is not paedophilia. Epstein was a paedophile though.

asrarpolar · 05/02/2024 11:49

@derxa link please to show all the girls were 16 and 17 year olds? None girls are involved.
Although 16 and 17 year olds are still children, I have read nothing confirming their ages. So I am surprised you have jumped from knowing nothing about this, to being sure of the ages of the nine girls involved.

wordler · 05/02/2024 13:28

We’re not going to have the whole definition of a paedophile argument again are we? We did that on one of the other Andrew threads.

@asrarpolar what Derxa is getting at is the term paedophile refers to a sexual interest in prepubescent children.

It gets misused in common speech to refer to those having sex with any minor even if over the age of consent in their locality.

As far as we know Andrew hasn’t been accused of having a sexual interest in the under 12s.

Thanks. Well put. We can't have people bandying the word 'paedophile' around.

Viviennemary · 05/02/2024 13:38

He should absolutely be removed from the line of succession.

Roussette · 05/02/2024 14:16

I agree. Andrew should

DojaPhat · 05/02/2024 14:23

Does anyone have a link to the Removal of Titles Bill! I can't understand why it's not getting more coverage!! They're banging on about this childcare thing and apparently there's a war going on but does anyone have any info if Harry has seen the Removal of Titles Bill???? I've checked BBC news and Sky just now but they're banging on about US elections and something else unimportant.

I'll keep refreshing the thread incase anyone posts a live link to The Removal of Titles Bill. I don't think I've been this enamoured by news since recently when I waited about 36 hours to wave at The Queen as she was driving to see The King when he was discharged from hospital.

wildernesssw · 05/02/2024 15:07

I've been holding my breath for more than a year now. I'm a bit red in the face, but I am determined to hold on...

Do you mean the Private Member's Bill, introduced by Rachael Maskell (Labour, York central)?

If so, I think it failed to progress (Private Member's bills next to never make it through)

Introduced, btw, by an MP for York, who wanted to see the dukedom removed from Andrew

JEMELM · 22/02/2024 03:56

Only Parliament can remove titles like Duke and Duchess and also remove people from the line of succession
Only The ruling Monarch King/Queen can remove HRH or Prince or Princess titles King Charles can remove Harry Prince's title if he does want to William will when be becomes king he does not need parliament or anyone's permission

ChimneyPot · 22/02/2024 13:41

I read that if Harry becomes a US citizen he has to renounce foreign titles and honours.
Is there any mechanism for him to do this in the U.K.? Is there a way of giving up a dukedom and stopping being a Prince?
If there is a way do Harry and Meghan become Mr & Mrs MountbattenWindsor and then Archie is the Duke of Sussex?
