Why do people feel it’s okay to say nasty things about Meghan on social media?

Lilyyy · 08/12/2022 21:02

Why do people care so much about her and Harry’s relationship and are so intent on just being incredibly nasty about someone they don’t even know or really know the truth about? Harry must love her and be happy so why don’t the media and people on social media just let them be?

genuinely asking as I don’t understand why she gets so much hatred everywhere, must be really bloody hard for them to see it all the time. People act like she’s a murderer or something.

OP posts:

Does anyone genuinely think she had people she wanted to invite to the wedding, but the Palace said no - they’re not up to scratch?????

@Roussette Maybe they agree with it all. As I'm suspicious that my post calling Meghan haters fucking idiots was the one that someone (and MN) thought needed deleting in this sea of hate and vitriol towards MM.

It's definitely different than it used to be. No idea why. I can only imagine it's clickbait and has generated new users of MN. Or their opinion has changed which means anything goes now however bad the post is. It's getting a bit Tattle.

Redwineandroses · 09/12/2022 17:16

Megan has just across from the start that she's constantly mocking the RF and taking the piss.

Does anyone really believe she didn't know anything about them beforehand? Or maybe she thought it was all whimsical show like Hollywood then realised it's actually an institution taken very seriously.

Redwineandroses · 09/12/2022 17:16

Loads of Americans on Twitter saying that the RF isn't as popular over there and they have no idea what's goes on behind closed doors. Or how to curtesy. And that it was perfectly reasonable to assume they don't curtesy to each other in private. Which I happen to agree with. It's ridiculous.

It's also not beyond the wit of man to consider someone else's experience or point of view. Though I realise that it must be. Plenty of people saying things like "I can't understand why" or "I don't see why" so maybe it's a skill that not everyone has.

But people will always find something to criticise if they look hard enough. It just makes me wonder how unhappy people must be in their own lives to be so constantly negative about someone else's.

Heatherbell1978 · 09/12/2022 17:32

I find the whole thing deeply disturbing. People generally agree that Diana was hounded to her death by paparazzi but have decided that history can be allowed to repeat itself for her traumatised sons' wife. My mum is your classic DM reader. Full of of vitriol about Meghan; a woman she'll never meet and has no idea about. Get a grip.

I agree she might not have know the ins and outs but you'd think if you were marrying into something like royalty you'd take the time to do your research.

Yeah they, m&h, must be really unhappy in their own lives to be constantly negative about someone else's lives ie the RF.

Nat6999 · 09/12/2022 17:40

The racial thing she spoke about on the documentary, accusations (not by the RF) that she was adopted because she was too pale to be black & others that she was too dark to be white. I don't think that the RF knew how to handle it, they are a very white, blue blooded family who haven't really changed for over 100 years, their rules & behaviours have never been questioned before like this.

Diana questioned them.

You'd think that if neither H or M didn't know the Clooneys or Oprah before the wedding they'd have been rather surprised to have received an invitation.

How many people really would jet over, spend a fortune on an outfit and go to the wedding of anyone they hadn't ever met?

Vitriolinsanity · 09/12/2022 18:22

Also if you had a super famous Prince boyfriend wouldn't one of the first questions you'd ask be "so do you all bow when you meet your Grandmother the super famous Queen?". Who wouldn't ask that?

stillvicarinatutu · 08/12/2022 22:00

Yep rousette

I agree , they both appear lovely , warm, empathetic, relatable, nice decent people. I really warm to them both . And the vitriol and racist hate toward them is inexcusable.
They've not slated anyone in this
Documentary, they told a story from their perspective and actually the private selfies warm the cockles of my heart - they're so normal ! And you can see how much they have each other's back and the warmth and love they have - good on them . Something real and tangible in a stuffy , regimented regime of a family full of fuck ups like any other - Harry has married for love . And it shows .

See, it's weird because I don't feel any of that about them.

I don't despise them as much as some people apparently do, but I certainly don't see them as 'so normal' and definitely not empathetic or relatable, wuh?!

They haven't met her.

There's a couple of celebs I'm not so keen on. I avoid them because they annoy me but I don't know them. Who knows, I might be wrong about them. I just don't read about them, write about them, look up anything about them. If there's a thread on MN about them, I avoid it.

Which is of course why Harry and Meghan have decided to sell the details of their private life the highest bidder Hmm

Certainly the best way to get the privacy that you need.....

stillvicarinatutu · 09/12/2022 18:31

The RF is a very British institution.

(And who wants to live in an institution as the joke goes )

The op asked the question. I'd think my response has got to be a possible answer. So I gave it. I mean if you don't want to write anything about people you don't like, that's up to you. But I don't see how it's material to my suggestion.

I'm bloody freezing at the moment and can't be bothered to cook tea, so I for one would be up for it. 🙋‍♀️

Grin

Saw it on Twitter and chuckled, was astonished that it hadn't already been taken on here!

Bunnyfuller · 09/12/2022 18:52

I’ve watched 15 minutes of one episode. This isn’t them ‘telling their story’. OMFG it’s schmalz and saccharine Hollywood love story dramatisation! It reminds me of a Jody Picoult book. All the fake ‘thinking’ about questions, when clearly the whole thing is scripted start to finish.

It’s contrived, painfully distasteful utter trash literally cashing in on her marrying a Prince. And he’s a besotted puppy being led by the nose.

The whole how they met, the Snapchat ‘who’s that?!’ She knew exactly who he was, she is well-documented as being an avid royal follower.

Trying to make people like you by putting out a dramatisation of yourselves set to soft romantic music.

Get me a bucket.

I wouldn't.

I, too, am American.

I think many Americans wouldn't curtsey at all.

I put this on Harry's shoulders. He should have prepped her.

You wouldn't think knowing the national anthem might be useful when you're marrying the grandson of a queen? Particularly when its only 7 lines long with 19 different words?

Your prerogative to post incessantly about two people you don't like.

You've watched 15 minutes.... okay.... to be honest, it's not worth commenting on unless you've watched it all
Just my opinion.
