Prince Harry: How come he's the poster boy for anti-racism?

HotChoxs · 06/12/2022 21:46

Just wondering. The only incident I can recall where there's been a clear cut irrefutable use of a highly offensive racist slur made by the Royal family was made by Harry himself.

So somebody I still consider to be a racist tw*t is now winning anti-racism awards for calling out the Royal family for racism which isn't as clear cut and visible as his own?

Whatever next? Prince Andrew to start up a anti-trafficking Charity?

The mind boggles.

Please provide evidence of this claim.
Meghan has always identified as biracial.
In fact, she has written extensively on how proud she is to be biracial .
She has admitted that being seen as ambiguous has given her more opportunities. Stop these horrible lies

I've just googled because it seemed so bizarre. She seemed to have been listed as Caucasian on site called babe statistics. Unlike the rather credulous author of this tweet I very much doubt she put up the profile herself. mobile.twitter.com/south_eastone/status/1218167634727968771

Google search results also show the same image being described as MM's cv! It's amazing how such obvious bunkum can become established fact.

The photo of PW on the 2003 BBC article 'Partying 'Prince turns Windsor Wild' shows him wearing an 'African' costume made of leopard-skins carrying a bone sceptre, wearing blackface

The theme of the party was Out of Africa and was attended by 300 guests including the late Queen.

Who on earth thought that was a good idea??

i thought this black faced photo of William had been discussed and disproved on another thread ? Despite the poster’s insistence it was proven that the photo they insisted was William was in fact Zara’s then boyfriend , a jockey . When it was pointed out that jockey was about a foot shorter than William , they tried to make us believe William was kneeling ( as he danced!)
As someone else said , William went as a leopard .

Are they going to live like this forever? I wonder what their long-term plan is when there are no more royal stories to trot out. When everyone has moved on? Do they think this career can sustain them for life? Will they just make a documentary every couple of years with the same stuff? I suppose people might still care. There is still an appetite for every last detail about Diana all these years later. I don’t know. Funny old life.

Falalalalaaah · 07/12/2022 09:29

Social media says it's because although he was racist in the past, he has "learned and grown" since then. So maybe he is the poster boy for a racist young man from a highly (over) privileged background finally seeing the error of his ways?

I think that's the most positive way I can frame it. Because he was mighty racist and much more so than anyone else I've ever met afaik and he is also more privileged than anyone I've ever met, which makes it even worse that he didn't have the grace not to be a racist cunt. But he does seem to have changed a lot since then. It would be nice if he acknowledged how bad he was in the past when he accepts these accolades for being an anti-racist ally. Perhaps he has. I don't follow the royals enough to know everything they say

RudsyFarmer · 07/12/2022 09:31

They will snuff their own light out if they carry on with this narrative. It will work for a short time and then it will go very, very quiet.

I totally disagree

Meghan herself identified as Caucasian on her professional profiles etc, it's all bizarre.

No she did not, that is why she has a black father on Suits.
What you are referring to is a website made by a random and it's called something like 'hot babes' or whatever.

Why do people keep repeating this nonsense, so they don't get to the bottom of why they hate her.

People obviously give a hoot’ which is why there are umpteenth threads about them.
All this attention for an ‘irrelevant’ couple

She actually asked that a black actor be cast as her father.

If William turned up in blackface there wouldn't be any pictures to be found. It would be hidden just like anything else he may do that's dodgy. Spare syndrome is an interesting royal phenomenon where the heir's sibling is the cover story whenever there's dirt on the heir - it happened to Margaret, it's happening to Harry whenever there's stuff to be buried and it's the future for 'naughty' Charlotte who's already being primed for the role.

I find it very hard to believe the OP wouldn't know about the racism of Philip and other family members.

There are an awful lot of strange hatchet job threads around atm although I suppose this one is better than the 'I hate Meghan so ner ner ner' one. It's odd that so many people are so bothered about a fairly irrelevant couple having a telly show. It's not about you or your family, you don't have to be so personally offended and they certainly wouldn't give a toss on your behalf. Just Netflix and chill.

I know exactly what you are referring to.
I once linked the picture and MNers refuted its was William as they still refute it's him on that BBC picture. He was described as wearing a straw skirt in a Guardian article for one party and another one that has been rubbed out was an article from the Cotswold newspaper that described how W brought a Zulu tribal costume. Later the Guardian questioned how the papers were calling it an animal costume when the theme was about humans (natives and colonisers).

In a biography by Lacey, he says Harry was a bit uncomfortable as his trusted brother chose the nazi uniform for him and W 'laughed all the way home' after they brought it.

So OP, now do William !

notanotheroneagain · 07/12/2022 09:48

Also OP, I wonder if you we're so outraged when apartheid president De Klerk received a joint Nobel Prize with Nelson Mandela?

I thought her being mixed race is very public too. In Suits, she has a black dad and white mum. I don't think she pretends to be white.

A poc poster has started a thread saying she is offended by prince Harry being a poster boy for anti racism, and you come on to berate her and throw whataboutery at her!
For shame !
Defending Meghan is one thing but a white British prince of extreme privilege against a poc poster.
This seems very racist to me !

Haven't RTFT because I'm supposed to be working.

I agree they can be annoying, but I'm inclined to believe he's had a bit of an epiphany. Sort of like how ex smokers are often the most anti-smoking. I think he's genuine on this one, and I think that's likeable. It takes a lot of courage to admit to being wrong, and to do so so openly with so much media attention is harder still.

Harry has admitted that his background and privilege meant that he was unable to understand issues such as racism. However, being married to Meghan opened his eyes to racism and its devastating effects. He said this is an interview.

In fact many POC have applauded Prince
Harry for his stance and believe that by speaking out against racism he has brought their concerns to the forefront .

jeffgoldblum · 07/12/2022 10:36

@Lampzade , that is one valid opinion but the op has a right to her opinion too!
And the poster this was aimed at is berating her , I try not to say anything about Meghan as it's a minefield, however I feel criticism of prince Harry ( a white privileged prince) should not be met with such vitriolic defense , lately it seems he has somehow been cloaked by Meghan poc status and this should not be the case .
If people cannot defend their opinion without bringing others in. Thier argument is obviously not strong enough.
And defending a " side " shouldn't have to devolve into personal attacks or insults, we should be able to disagree without all this negativity.

Hear Hear!. This is a woman who has zero morals and compassion for another woman!. It makes me sick that she is "queen consort". It makes it seem that there are no consequences for bad behaviour.

I hate the royals and want rid of the lot of them but I ageee completely with you on this .

People CAN change . It's also why Harry remains so interesting . The 'royals' are left as waxworks , playing lip service to 'modernisation' .

The increasingly desperate 'royals' response to even a sniff of few truth bombs on Netflix adds credence to H an M and the royals can't even see how they are misstepping here

Also we saw no response re Andrew's documented disgrace. In fact the queen made sure she was seen front and centre with him . That was two fingers to the people

Philip was worse I think but you would expect the younger generation to be better as its never been accepted in his lifetime like it would have been in prince Philips

Didn't Harry have to do two courses on the subject because the first one didn't stick?

And I don't remember Phillip lecturing people
