The royal family

Meghan has been named one of 25 most influential women by FT

"Meghan Markle has become a symbol of resilience for many silenced women. Specifically speaking, for women of colour and, even more specifically, mixed-race and black women. Her experience within the royal family resonated with those who have had to navigate historically white, elitist institutions that are, at best, not built with them in mind and, at worst, outwardly hostile.

The royal family is an establishment largely maintained through silence and complicity. It’s this, in part, that makes Meghan’s choice to use her voice so powerful. This year she launched a podcast, Archetypes, where she interrogates the labels used to contain and inhibit women – fitting, given the projection and smears she has endured from the press. For the black community in particular, it was hard to watch her demonisation by the British media and public. But seeing her come into her own, and use her platform to speak about what matters to her, has sent a message even louder than she may have intended."

@Orangesatsuma

Trump used to get lots of headlines too 🤷‍♀️

Orangesatsuma · 03/12/2022 00:46

….Trump was very influential too and still is to a certain extent.

Who needs misogyny when women are each other's worst enemies, eh?

The vitriol spewed at Megan Markle here is despicable.

Whatever you think of her, she has a right to her own life and her own thoughts and to express them.
Yes, she married into the royal family, doesn't mean you own her.

Get a life, instead of bitching about her.

She's American! At least she has the balls to say what she thinks in public. Not like you lot.

Maybe Queenie - god bless her, amazing - had the stiff upper lip as is the English way - never complain, never explain. After all, that was the done thing 100 years ago.

Doesn't mean Megan Markle has to toe the line of an archaic institution. Not like Kate. Same old, same old.

We are heading into 2023!

You only have to look at the recent Buckingham Palace faux-pas to see how out of touch that institution is....... while collecting their taxes

Kind of like voting over and over again for the Tories who trash the country while syphoning away their riches - the true reason for Brexit.

Well said!

I hope she keeps winning awards if only to annoy those who keep saying they wish she'd go away yet spout post after post after post trying to pull her down. It ain't working!

If she annoys you so much, why not ignore her, him and everything about them?
Nah, they live rent free in your heads and you are addicted to them.

Here you go, I DARE you to listen to this all the way through. The real reasons you royalists dislike them so much.

I'm looking forward to the future when she wins the presidency. Can you imagine Meghan being introduced as Meghan The Duchess of Sussex, president of the United States.

What a conundrum that might present 😂

I have no skin in the game either way but it does irk somewhat that they continue using their titles (which they are fully entitled to do) whilst forging a future in a republic built on the back of victory and freedom from the Brits.

I'm not sure if that means they're bat shit crazy, brazen or maybe hopelessly in love.

I hope it's the latter.

Either way it's entertainment!

A total narc and the point is, she keeps harping on about her victimhood and just gets no insight, yes that sums her up. Shocking that Harry is trapped and isolated with her, but that’s what she needed to do. A great example for the personality disorders in real life. Lies, manipulates, blames, victim mode, rumours of temper trouble…

Oh no did the black woman steal your white Prince and trap him? 😂 y'all never ever fail to tell on yourselves.

He’s only the spare though

Alopeciabop · 03/12/2022 04:30

I’m so confused. She’s been literally caught lying on multiple occasions in front of us all.

She complains of how badly she was treated by the press and that it must be racism and how they didn’t want “history to repeat itself” - ie Diana was haunted and hunted and treated appalling by the press, which, whether you were a fan or not, can’t be denied. But there’s a few things I just can’t wrap my head around…
Diana was white. Was Meghan treated worse by the press? No. So it isn’t something exclusive to her so why is racism always what they blame it on?
secondly, she was absolutely fawned over by the press! Like every article was how amazing she was, how stunning she was.
she got engaged quickly and got given a multi million pound massive bloody wedding from this awful institution who she was treated so badly by. I mean, I’d love to be treated so badly by a disapproving boyfriend’s family!

she said she couldn’t leave the palace yet went on like three trips during that time. Stayed at Elton johns. Flew to NYC for a baby shower.

she refused to say who made this remark about the baby’s skin tone - but just cos your granny Mabel is an ignorant racist old twat doesn’t mean you are - so it seems unfair and snide to essentially say one person said something racist but I’m not gonna tell you who so they can all be tarred with the same brush. But gosh, I dunno, maybe William and Kate are awful bigots who deserve it. Seems pretty unlikely though in reality doesn’t it?

Plus being in a particular ‘category’ (black, woman, gay or whatever) doesn’t necessarily put you in a position of having no privilege.

for example, Oprah talks about how being black impacted her and it makes for pretty painful listening. Now Meghan certainly will have suffered some because of her skin tone. But she was also incredibly “privileged “ (hate that word) in many many ways. And in ways many people of all backgrounds won’t ever be able to experience. (And this was before the prince) I’m sorry, I just don’t understand how you can stand there complaining about your lot when there are girls living in run down shit holes all over this country whose parents neglect them, have no education opportunities, no future prospects to reach for. It seems so tone deaf (hate that phrase)

although not as bad as her husband (the prince of England) sitting across from oprah in that mental health Netflix thing - Oprah: I had to sleep on the porch because the woman who took me in didn’t like how black I was.
Harry: Mmm yes, my dad treated me badly because he didn’t like my wife. He only let us have a 32 million pound wedding and then when I quit my job he cut me off to live only on my own personal millions.

oh and not to mention the fact they’ve branded every single one of us racist. Neither a journalist, nor the royal family, speak for me or represent my views. Yet Harry and Meghan feel it’s ok to make sweeping statements that brand us ALL as bigots.

so how are they such heros? What are they doing that’s so revolutionary?
if he was a woman, and what has happened has happened everyone would be crying emotional abuse. She’s cut him off from his entire family and he does nothing but witter on in an obsessive, weird, quite uncomfortable manner about “my wife”. My wife this, my wife that, it’s odd. And screams controlling. Especially when you acknowledge the fact that background doesn’t necessarily mean position of power in a relationship. I mean, he’s a white male prince of England but I think not many would say he is mentally stronger than her. She is a powerhouse. He comes across as weak little boy with a lot to work through.

Nasty little cockroach in my books, no credibility, self centred lying little narcissist

That tells me all I need to know about your post. I would never speak of anyone in those terms, except perhaps a mass murderer.
I wouldn't like to be in your head to feel such hate about someone I don't know who hasn't done anything to me 😮

StopStartStop · 03/12/2022 05:26

I probably won't die laughing about this, but it's a near thing.

God help us if she is really influencing people.

LBFseBrom · 03/12/2022 05:29

Good. I was pleased to read that.. She is an remarkable woman.

I'd have more descriptive words for a mass murderer than cockroach!

She's doing her utmost to destroy a whole family, lying, making money, putting into print and on tape about her 'truth' ... that gets found out as half truths or lies, harps on about issues she's suddenly interested in, has no background or s patience in, just to jump on a bandwagon. There are thousands of influential women out there, been working on areas for years, qualified and worked bloody hard in fields, MM pops up and is suddenly 'influential' just because she's married somebody, shit all over his family, lied and cheated her way into such lists ... cockroach is pretty horrible, but then so is she!

Remarkable! Hilarious 😂

Roussette · 03/12/2022 05:42

Maybe I would too. It's just the venom about another woman that's shocking to me.

I dont consider her horrible. Misguided at times, irritating sometimes but nothing like how the pp wrote about her.

But we will have to agree to differ won't we??

😁

Ohnonevermind · 03/12/2022 07:26

@Roussette

you agreed with a poster who said that Kate was ‘lazy’ and ‘doing the bare minimum’ and said it was a great post so we will have to disagree as you clearly don’t mind sticking the vitriolic boot into some people,

The comments on Netflix weren’t racist, they were laughing at someone whose grandiose self importance has left them open to ridicule. They’re a farcical pair.

Indeed. Every new exposure to a wider audience (such as the launch of the trailer) just reinforces how fundamentally unlikable they are - most people see straight through them. It's almost awkward to watch.

DuchessOfPort · 03/12/2022 07:43

I agree with Roussette when she said: times have changed. We have social media now. The public can criticise at what they think looks awful.
And they do. Quite rightly.

FeelWellEnoughToTellYou · 02/12/2022 15:43

With all the stick she gets I think she deserves it for just getting up every morning.

This.

Jenny3412 · 03/12/2022 08:58

Guys all of this is a bait to get us talking about MM. the girl is seriously ill with NPD. She can not get insight and get better. It’s sad 😞 for her, for her children that will be traumatised for sure and for poor Harry who as a result of his own childhood trauma was a very eager codependent and thus enabler of such behaviour. This whole Netflix thing is a sad documentation of it all like Oprah interview that psychologist will no doubt study and analyse. It’s not about race, unfairness, nothing, That’s just MM bait to get centre stage. As I say part of the condition is no insight therefore the same mistake over and over again.

‘Narcissism’ is so overused, especially on MN. There’s no evidence whatsoever that she is a narcissistic.
She is confident though - and I greatly admire her for holding her head up and keeping going in the face of such vitriol. Good for her!

Ohnonevermind · 03/12/2022 09:15

We can all see traits of narcissism, whether she meets the diagnosis threshold, that’s for a professional to decide.

the grandiose statements, the thin skin, the lying, these are all attributes to this condition.

confident or grandiose - what would a professional say - the people dancing in the streets was a grandiose statement not a confident one.

Jenny3412 · 03/12/2022 09:46

Baby, she is the definition of narcissistic personality disorder and if plays out in her life for all to see and learn from. Yes they often appear superficially charming like her but have deep seated insecurities and paranoias.

Hmm Okay

I really don't think she does make grandiose statements. She has a rather 'American'/ Hallmarky way of expressing herself, granted.

Thin skin? See how you like being on the receiving end of the treatment doled out to her. Someone on this thread called her a cockroach. And I don't think that should be reported, it just makes it deniable later.

We'll have to agree to disagree on the lying. I really can't be bothered with another conversation about that.

Jenny3412 · 03/12/2022 10:06

Yeah I mean she was comparing herself to a Nelson Mandela, that is seriously disturbing. Anyone remotely balanced can see right through this act. And blaming poor Kate for her crocodile tears saying Kate took her flowers and owned it. Kate was probably trying her best and was unaware of her SILs illness and how it may be weaponised against her. The only person that has done well out of all this is her ex husband the one that was dumped when she posted her wedding ring back to him. Yeah you see photos of him and his beautiful new wife and child and you can see he appreciates every day he gets without the turmoil and trauma that comes with NP traits.
