The royal family

Meghan has been named one of 25 most influential women by FT

"Meghan Markle has become a symbol of resilience for many silenced women. Specifically speaking, for women of colour and, even more specifically, mixed-race and black women. Her experience within the royal family resonated with those who have had to navigate historically white, elitist institutions that are, at best, not built with them in mind and, at worst, outwardly hostile.

The royal family is an establishment largely maintained through silence and complicity. It’s this, in part, that makes Meghan’s choice to use her voice so powerful. This year she launched a podcast, Archetypes, where she interrogates the labels used to contain and inhibit women – fitting, given the projection and smears she has endured from the press. For the black community in particular, it was hard to watch her demonisation by the British media and public. But seeing her come into her own, and use her platform to speak about what matters to her, has sent a message even louder than she may have intended."

A total narc and the point is, she keeps harping on about her victimhood and just gets no insight, yes that sums her up. Shocking that Harry is trapped and isolated with her, but that’s what she needed to do. A great example for the personality disorders in real life. Lies, manipulates, blames, victim mode, rumours of temper trouble…

That list is who nominated the winners, not who chose them.
It is common in awards to ask for nominations.

I didn’t realise she’d been forced to marry into the Royal Family

There was no awards committee for this

"For 2022, we again commissioned entries by some of the world’s most powerful women. But we also sought contributors who could speak to their subject’s influence in diverse, even unexpected dimensions"

The FT chose who would make the nominations, and then published the list that emerged.

Influences me to do the opposite of whatever she does so I think they've got it about right!

Reeks of paid for PR to me. MM has never been silenced and does not recognise her incredible privilege compared to those she claims to give voice to. Her whole business is based on focusing on the past, whilst claiming to be building the future. It's nauseating and disingenuous.

This.

"We put together this list in collaboration with FT journalists from dozens of international bureaux, former women of the year and readers like you. It is a celebration, of course, but also a way of interrogating the ways in which power and influence are changing."

@antelopevalley

so a complete load of cobblers then

Ohnonevermind · 02/12/2022 18:55

Isn’t MM lucky that despite doing nothing for 2 years she’s getting all these awards just in time for her Netflix series, isn’t it an an amazingly lucky coincidence

🤣🤣🤣

Do you think everyone else on the list paid for the PR, too? Or just MM?

Loads of people in showbiz pay to get onto lists like this, so probably. In regards to MM specifically, her own former PR agent has gone on record saying that she paid for certain coverage, she has never been sued for libel, so it's not an unreasonable or unfounded assumption. The timing seems extremely convenient too. I am no fan of Harry either, before you accuse me of being racist I find them both very disingenuous and self seeking.

RoseAndRose · 02/12/2022 20:03

I'd be surprised if a place on an FT list was for sale

But I think the aim was to be eclectic

It's much more common than you think. DH has a friend who is a journo. not at the FT, but a national and he said loads of it goes on.

Marulatree · 02/12/2022 20:21

Despite her critics she keeps winning. It’s further confirmation that the keyboard warriors have NO influence. MM must rise each morning with a giant smile. If only others could say the same.

Ohnonevermind · 02/12/2022 20:33

@Marulatree

Shes winning at being a laughing stock all right. The stakes are so high 🤣 in her own deluded mind

What has she won? Haven't all her awards been "bought"? And she needs to be careful with the giant smiles - not a good look for the "sad victim" motif

Ohnonevermind · 02/12/2022 20:41

@BadgerB

She smiles through her sadness, to be a role model for princesses everywhere - how brave, how noble and she knows that princess tears don’t wash out of Hermes blankets

What has she won? She’s almost universally derided.

Ohnonevermind · 02/12/2022 20:49

@Marulatree

what has she ‘actually’ done
The bench - heap of shit
Pearl cancelled
stereotype podcast dropping like a stone

its like Donald Trump saying ‘you’re going to get so tired of winning’

I guess MM is Donald trump style winning ?

The FT include a lot of paid PR in these sorts of pieces.

Oh I'd say MM was doing rather a lot, busy being a victim and bleating about it to whoever would listen 😀 I bet the attention and the cash is drying up a bit, hence the Netflix "documentary", i.e. more victim bleating.

CathyorClaire · 02/12/2022 21:12

Well she didn't make Vogue's list (among others) so I'm calling bullshit subjective views.

dropthevipers · 02/12/2022 21:33

Complete pile of wank.
