The royal family

The American Tour... this isn't going to go well is it?

I think that in the first instance planning some sort of hearts and minds land grab over the Sussexes is foolish when Meghan is herself American and the Sussexes are based there. Why not leave well alone and throw a bells and whistles diplomatic smorgasbord for the president (or the next one, frankly, if Biden carks it) at the next opportunity. Or go to Canada, where you'd get loads of 10 years later photo compares and you are (or will be) actually the head of state there.
Also why Boston? If anything it's the anti UK monarchy state historically and Bostonians are not as (platonically) romantically taken than, say, (sweeping generalisation alert!) Midwesterners by the Royal Family.

I'm sure it's to flood the papers before Harry's "poor me" autobio comes out but surely there must be a premise on which they're going?

And now they have their 'touch down' moment marred by more racism accusations (quite rightly, what that lady in waiting said and how she behaved was absolutely appalling).

Difficult to see how they can bring this back round tbh.

What everyone else think?

I said what I said, William going to Netflix to cry is utterly pathetic. He will be overshadowed for the rest of his life.

Where's your proof William asked them to complain to Netflix?

And William will never be irrelevant - likely within the next 20yrs he will be King.

Harry will become more and more irrelevant in that time. The Duke of Windsor tried this and failed (& head more relevance to start with). The British Monarchy will adapt and grow smaller, but not The Crown. Its the 2nd, 3rd,4th born and other offshoots that will be affected by this.

Maybe that's why Harry is doing this? He always said he didn't want to be King, but now being faced by his own ever quickly approaching irrelevance he's trying to delay the inevitable? History is littered by 2nd, 3rd & 4th borns who also tried.

History also shows us King trumps Prince. King trumps Duke.

It's even more sad to see Harry can't help replaying his past. It's like the "Battle of the Wales's" all over again, but this time its all mainly instigated by one side. Surely he saw how damaging it was to both his parents? It's so desperately pointless.

Doesn't matter. He'll still be King.

Novella4 · 04/12/2022 15:22

Oh it matters

Support for royals is dropping roughly 10% per decade

Novella4 · 04/12/2022 15:23

Presently at 62% or 51% overall depending on where you look

Not that 'surveys ' are reliable in any way - most are bought and paid for . But the trajectory is clear

The young of today see through the charade

antelopevalley · 04/12/2022 15:28

I do think crying to Netflix is pathetic.
If your "work" is good enough this will show.
I think the real issue is the work is not good enough.

Who cried to Netflix ?

Novella4 · 04/12/2022 15:56

Because a Netflix trailer stole W and K 's thunder ?

How to tell the world that you had no thunder to begin with lol !

Not understanding- are you saying that William was crying to Netflix ?

Novella4 · 04/12/2022 16:02

Well it could be seen as Williams PR or even the royalists supporters . The royalists have been saying how disgraceful the timing was because it took attention from W and K

I'm saying if a Netflix trailer takes your thunder, you didn't have any thunder

Ohnonevermind · 04/12/2022 16:08

@Novella4

equally if you have to try to piggyback on someone else’s achievements to try to gain publicity, it makes you look rather petty, spiteful and nervous that the project can’t stand on its own merits

look at all the comments laughing at their puffed up self importance. They don’t matter, that’s why they flounced off and the U.K. happily waved bye,

Furries · 04/12/2022 16:10

tatala · 04/12/2022 04:25

William is a sad sad man. Did you see what he had the EarthShot members do? go and cry to Netflix...

If they truly wanted attention to be on the finalists, why weren't they flown in?

I guess if you flop that hard, you have to blame anyone but yourself.

Where is the part that says William had them do this?

And “go cry to Netflix”? They are on Netflix advisory boards!

Novella4 · 04/12/2022 16:18

@Ohnonevermind
😂

And yet royalists are endlessly attacking H and M ...
What are you so worried about if the royals are as innocent as you and they claim ??

If the Royal family stepped down tomorrow, what would the Sussexes do? They would have no titles as well 🤷‍♀️

Novella4 · 04/12/2022 16:25

I don't follow you

I'd love it if they all stepped down !

The titles are meaningless nonsense regardless of who has them

Well the Sussexes would become meaningless too. Their USP is their connection to the Royal Family.

Novella4 · 04/12/2022 16:28

And the work H and M do has nothing to do with made up titles .

Yes Harry is 'royal' and that won't change ( from a royalist point of view ) whether he has a made up title or not

They don't need the titles now . They have a platform and they are using it well
In fact removing their titles would be another PR face plant by the UK royals so I hope they do

smilesy · 04/12/2022 16:28

What work?

Novella4 · 04/12/2022 16:31

Rhetorical question ?

Well now don't start about royals and work - you'll be be very shaky ground

Working royal is an oxymoron

LadyKenya · 04/12/2022 16:32

Hark! The Royals work really hard.Hmm

Ohnonevermind · 04/12/2022 16:33

@Novella4

i’m not even a royalist, I didn’t like the people attacking kate, she keeps her head down, and gets on with her job, rather than sobbing to Oprah and Tom Bradby about how hard she’s got it. Meghan has taken a few swipes at her on TV too which turned me off Meghan’s

I think Camilla would be fun at a party, Meghan would bore me to death with her ‘expert’ opinions and sermons - serious dunning Kruger vibes

i’m in ireland so makes no difference to me,
if they got rid of the monarchy 🤷‍♀️

I didn’t say anything about the Royals and working. I asked what work the Sussexes do?

Novella4 · 04/12/2022 16:35

People will believe anything they are fed by MSM

I notice the royals love to repeat the term 'working royal ' as much as possible . Elizabeth didn't - because people didn't question so much then

One of the reasons , I think, that support for monarchy is so low among the young is that the young don't rely so much on MSM
