Awful story just broken on twitter about horrendous racist questioning from Lady Hussey to Ngozi Fulani from Sister Space at yesterdays VAWG event.

Lady Hussey has resigned.

Racist?!! Haha, I’m mixed race and my DH is Afro-Caribbean, which also makes our DC mixed race.

But yeah, I must be racist if I disagree with a black women, rather than just actually disagreeing with her point of view, regardless of who she is.

Maybe your mental gymnastics are illogical, hmm?

The mansion in Montecito, you div. Bought from Spencer money or are you going to claim M is paying for it every month?

They have a mortgage. And you really are showing your true colours on this thread.

So you're also jealous of Harry inheriting from his mum's family too?

Do you object to everyone inheriting from their parents, or is it on white princes and their brown wives that irk you?

The element of moving Ngoni’s hair to see her name badge hasn’t been mentioned as much as the haranguing.

It’s really shocking, I think another poster described it has treating her like a piece of public property.

A) why did she need to see her badge instead of saying “and what’s your name”.

B) why did she feel she had the right to touch her. Only close friends and relatives generally touch each other (aside from handshakes). I imagine Lady Susan wouldn’t expect Ngoni to reach over and touch her hair.

I don’t think I read this in the article. I must have missed it. And some posters are still rushing to excuse this impolite and racially charged behaviour? I remember reading articles about micro-aggressions and touching hair, it was incredibly eye-opening and I learnt a lot. Perhaps some of these posters should do the same? 🤔

Sadly having black partners doesn't stop people from being racist.

Cheryl Tweedy anyone?

Wtf?? "She would have had more integrity if she had found financial freedom as they would still have lived somewhere decent and dressed well"? Which century did you crawl out from? Why do YOU need to approve what is "decent" and "well"? Are you just mad Harry didn't fall in love wirh you lmao

I would not go for H. I've done much better on every count but I don't expect you to believe me or relate 😂
I was just referring to that modern definition of feminism 😉 where women live within their means and share finances with their partner - come across it before? No need to bleat on about being strong and empowered when you are spending like crazy out of the resources of what you deem to be a racist family in a racist country.

Softplayhooray · 30/11/2022 17:13

Why would anyone think the RF couldn't be racist, by the way?

Didn't Charles accept €1million in a suitcase from a Qatari former PM recently? And Andrew is still seemingly quite welcome in the family, too.

So they're hardly a paragon of moral virtue are they.

Jazzandblues · 30/11/2022 17:13

Look at all those who are making all kinds of excuses for her racist behaviour yet were the same people saying Meghan and harry were lying about racism. The royal family is absolutely racist. Add this to a long list of reasons for why.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 30/11/2022 17:14

Unfortunately “recollections may vary” won’t cut it this time as the conversation was witnessed

That's probably why they got out a statement and shoved Lady Susan aside so fast, and while I'm the very last to defend the RF at least they did it ...

Readinginthesun · 30/11/2022 17:14

Lady Susan’s comments were unacceptable however I was surprised that Ngozi attended an event run by people she accused of committing DA against MM .

LakieLady · 30/11/2022 17:14

Ngoni Fulani knew what Lady Hussey meant and was deliberately answering in an ambiguous and passively aggressive way.

What the actual fuck? In what world does "Where are you from?" mean "What's your heritage?"

And this woman was the late queen's closest confidante for about five decades, probably more. That says much. Isn't it funny how, after all that time, she suddenly goes and puts her foot in it now?

The veneer is coming off.

RishisProudMum · 30/11/2022 17:15

RishisProudMum · 30/11/2022 17:06

But Ngozi has made this event all about her.

She tweeted once about a racist incident. That’s ‘making the event about her’? Should she have kept silent about it, then?

The event was about gender-based violence. Women and girls are being raped and murdered in the uk and worldwide, in domestic and conflict situations. This was the important thing to focus on.

I suggest you look up Ngozi’s work re Violence Against Women and Girls in some extremely vulnerable communities. Then come back and tell us what you’ve done about the issue that’s on par.

There are stupid people everywhere, everyday. Call them out, but don’t dominate the headlines and detract from the key message of the event.

You think Ngozi gets to decide the headlines and who/what dominates them?

For the record, I’m an immigrant to the UK too, but my daughter is also African heritage, Caribbean descent and British born.

So, that makes the nonsense you just spewed acceptable. You have a Black daughter, so you get to tell Black women not to speak up about racism and that doing so detracts from the causes they are working towards.

@Aquablue21 Answer the questions. As opposed to doing gymnastics and telling us how you’re mixed race, answer the questions raised by the ludicrous things you’ve said.

MsBucket · 30/11/2022 17:16

Lozzybear · 30/11/2022 15:54

I do think this is a problem with some older white British people. I have had numerous arguments with my elderly dad over it. He recently described a black friend of my son’s as being from the Caribbean. My 12 year old called him out on it before I even got a chance. I feel like I am banging my head against a wall with him but he’s not going to change now at 73. However, in this case the palace should have realised Lady Susan was a liability and removed her from duties long ago.

That’s the part I’m confused about. Why wasn’t she? She’s clearly old and set in her ways judging by her behaviour. It makes me wonder how many other comments were overlooked, how many intentional/unintentional micro-aggressions have taken place unnoticed and unchecked because nobody raised their voice? It does make me feel sad.

Softplayhooray · 30/11/2022 17:16

Squeezita · 30/11/2022 17:12

This a fair point. I have a mixed race friend whose mum is white and dad is black and she swears her mum is racist. She actually is because I met her and heard a few comments. I'd have had a hard time believing it if I hadn't met her mum personally. So bizarre.

What are you doing? Anything?

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 30/11/2022 17:20

The problem most people have with MM is that she scarpered after bagging the mansion and the couture wardrobe.

You misunderstand me. That wasn't the point I was making.

The point is the likely reason why she scarpered.
