Harry and Meghan - lies?

FurAndFeathers · 28/10/2022 19:51

Ok I’m keeping my fingers crossed this thread will not descend into an unsubstantiated bun fight! Please bear with me.

I’m definitely no Royalist, and am pretty ambivalent about H and M but from the little I’ve read they seem to have been treated pretty badly. However I keep seeing on other threads here that their claims have all be proven to be lies, which would make me much less sympathetic to them. But I can’t find any verification for this.

So I’m asking more knowledgeable posters - what lies specifically have H&M told and where’s the evidence to the contrary please?

thank you

As a PP said Meghan just sometimes does not tell the truth - eg as others have said - their marriage was 3 days before - well it just wasn't . That Archie was not a prince because of his colour - well no it wan't - it was order of succession etc, I would have loved to see the interview they had done with Oprah with Jeremy Paxman & then they might have had to think a little more. But I suspect as well as with books etc they are playing more to a US audience than UK - & OK if that is what they want to do. Hope Harry is Happy because as another PP said - I would bet a pound to a box of oranges she wouldn't have gone for him if he was a low earning worker from no-where town .

I just think if they could have settled down into the RF they could have done a great job. They did not want to - and their choice - but I would like to see them stop trading off the RF for their millions when they seem to think the RF is too bad to burn.

The York girls did have security until the became adults.

It’s like the open letter from 72 Britsh MPs calling out “the outdated , colonial undertones of these stories,” never happened.

I have a link here to show it was true? Do you have a source to show it was a lie ? I am interested because at the time it was on the news channels, all over SM, we even discussed this at work as it was of interest to many who were not at all interested in the RF

If you are not a royalist and are ambivalent about H&M than what is your interest in starting this thread? I think you sound like a PR company canvassing public opinion in preparation for Harry’s book launch.

Coucous · 29/10/2022 07:27

They have been treated terribly by the press - you have to look at the headlines pre Oprah interview.

So they had a private ceremony where they exchanged vows and everyone had blown this out of proportion to try and make them dishonest people because they truly have nothing. Many people from different cultures do this before a white wedding - it's not such a big deal.

Everything about M+H is because M is a foreigner and is a WOC. You will have to look at the comments about Akshata Sunak, the woman has never said anything to anyone, never broke the law - just look at the stories, the headlines, the comments on these forums. You would think the was the only person to be non-dom, but there are over 250K non-dom individuals in the UK.

Another issue with M is that she's not desperate to live here, she's not a refugee. She had the ability to go back home which she exercised. People who don't like her think they are related to the RF and feel offended on their behalf. I like that she left to protect her family and her mental health. Years later people are still frothing.

moose62 · 29/10/2022 07:30

I really and tired of the whole thing. They wanted freedom away from the firm, yet they do everything they possibly can to feed off these connections. I am not interested in Harry's truth. He is a man with a family and should have learned to let go years ago. He has been pampered and spoiled and I think the reality of not being deferred to as a working royal is beginning to bite.
The OP is a bit strange. They could have found out all this stuff themselves and I wonder at an ulterior motive.

I won't be buying or reading Harry's book. I appreciate what the working royals do for the country but am not interested in the rest.

Unless you are a toddler you know what you have written is not true. She has never said Archie was not a prince because he was brown. We watched the same interview.

They said they wanted to change the rules so that Archie would not be a prince. This would only affect Archie. That and the comments about the baby's skin tone etc. Even if Archie's mother was not brown, it seems strange that they were thinking of putting rules in place to stop the Prince from being a Prince.

The wedding thing - discussed ad nauseam. This is why I have an issue with Meghan haters, most have no problem lying. If there was some true claims. rather than my friend works for Kate and I trust her.

It was the way it was said. I found it: Very dramatic, Conspiratorial, The spectacle: Condescending. People believed her not just because of what was said but the way she said it. Or do words have no meaning anymore?

Coucous · 29/10/2022 07:36

Where is the proof of where and when they said they did not want anything to do with the RF.

Coucous · 29/10/2022 07:37

@Mummyoflittledragon So you were offended on behalf of the RF?

Mummyoflittledragon · 29/10/2022 07:38

Idk if that was and answer to me Coucous. I was talking about the wedding.

BasiliskStare · 29/10/2022 07:39

@Coucous - I think on that one point - they did not have a private wedding ceremony before they were married - they just didn't but she said they did . That may have been their lovely private moment but it was not when they were married in the eyes of the law or the church ( which I suppose was important to them given the actual wedding) So I don't care when H & M felt they were committed to each other but pretending they were married in their garden is either self denial or just "we don't care what you think we'll tell our truth "

Prince Harry and Meghan had just one official ceremony says Justin Welby. Prince Harry and Meghan were legally married at Windsor Castle, the Archbishop of Canterbury has said. During her interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan said the couple exchanged vows three days before their official wedding in May 2018.

Coucous · 29/10/2022 07:37

@Mummyoflittledragon So you were offended on behalf of the RF?

What? No for me as a British citizen as I’d thoroughly bought into the wonderful fairy tale of their wedding and was so overwhelming pleased for Harry.

Instead of asking people for links, why don't you look it up yourself OP? If you are really interested?

but then there wouldn't be yet another thread ripping them apart.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 29/10/2022 07:56

I can see why the word a spectacle would rub the British the wrong way because of the double meaning. But it is Exactly what any Royal wedding is and what the royal fans and RF want. a show, Pomp , exaggeration, oooh, aaaah etc etc. I don't think she meant it the way it has been distorted but there goes.

Oh dear! I phrased that so badly. It is true. There was a letter: It’s just there is such persistent denial of racism, and denial of racism in the British media. And the MPs’ letter was a response to that racism. Amongst other things. I should have written ‘as though the letter never happened.’ It did. my apologies everyone. That letter was real.

OhIdoLike2bBesideTheSeaside · 29/10/2022 08:44

They're both ridiculous (H&M)

They both lie about stuff then loose in court

They go on about privacy then do An American chat show

My neighbour is related to someone who works for the RF - as a housekeeping and apparently Megan is absolutely vile and lots of her staff asked to be moved as she was so rude to them.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 29/10/2022 08:55

I think we need a @tenuous links to the RF" thread

OhIdoLike2bBesideTheSeaside · 29/10/2022 09:09

Exactly this
They left the uk abandoned the RF
Why would Archie be an Earl???

Deluded

And yet another one!

When are MN applying for their Royal Warrant with all these posters related or friends with people who work in royal households???
It's incessant! Five times a day!

We move in exalted circles!
