The royal family

Harry and Meghan - lies?

1000 replies

FurAndFeathers · 28/10/2022 19:51

Ok I’m keeping my fingers crossed this thread will not descend into an unsubstantiated bun fight! Please bear with me.

I’m definitely no Royalist, and am pretty ambivalent about H and M but from the little I’ve read they seem to have been treated pretty badly. However I keep seeing on other threads here that their claims have all be proven to be lies, which would make me much less sympathetic to them. But I can’t find any verification for this.

So I’m asking more knowledgeable posters - what lies specifically have H&M told and where’s the evidence to the contrary please?

thank you

Actually ….M couldn’t have been living long enough in the U.K. to apply for citizenship. IIRC, as a spouse, you need to have been here for three years, first on a settlement visa for two years and then with Indefinite Leave to Remain. Either she’s fibbing or she was being fast tracked. I suspect the latter. She may want to check her privilege.

A human being?

1/ didn't ask you
2/Are you like this for every human being?

rumours they have separated - I hope not

Well I hope not too. But you know ‘rumours’. Rumours that William had an affair, rumours that Charles has fathered children with married mistresses when he was young, rumours that the Queen and the Royal Family are lizard people even. I place no weight on rumours.

Tabloids do this all the time. They are together, they are separated and she’s miserable and expecting triplets. Oh hang on, they are back together and just for kicks we have a photo of the family at the beach and Meghan has, horror of all the horrors, Cellulite, and in case you missed it we’ve circled it for you. Then, Meghan has her pre baby body back, and now she and Harry are looking deeply in love whilst on a second honeymoon. And so on and so on.

milti · 01/11/2022 22:01

I don’t think they’re lizard people 😂 the other rumours , no idea

A human being?

Exactly. I don't 'see' anything in her. She is a fellow human being

In the US, there is no such thing as nursery. It is pre-school or day care.

In preschool they are learning. Numbers, colors, letters, even how to take care of themselves.

Stop projecting your UK life onto a family living in the US.

And she is a hands on mom, even if she does have staff. She wouldn't be packing lunches and carrying Archie while pregant if she wasn't.

Hmm. That’s your definition of a hands on Mum. don’t know what she does or doesn’t do, but all this ‘aren’t I great, I make the family breakfast’ is a bit disingenuous. That’s what every mother does. Why does she need to mention it as if she’s a special Super Mum? It’s just what mothers do.

Yes, some people will believe anything if it suits their purpose.

Well, I listened to the podcast. She never said she was a super mom. She was laughing about how chaotic her house was each morning, something that most moms can relate to. She was not complaining about it either. She was talking to another mom about being a mom. That is it.

If she is cooking and cleaning and making lunches and taking her kids to school, then she is a hands on mom. Her nanny and staff, that we have no idea if she actually has, aren't raising her kids. So she is a hands on mom.

What would YOU consider a hands on mom then?

You are splitting hairs over labels. I doubt you have any idea what the actual difference in curriculum between the two countries is. I do - having worked in both systems - and can tell you it makes no difference to the workload of parents.FYI in the English system, they are expected to attain a lot more than in the US. Don’t be fooled by the term ‘nursery’.

Ohnonevermind · 01/11/2022 22:31

The ‘the cut’ article mentioned staff - a nanny, someone lighting candles, security detail handing out backpacks, so we do know she has staff.

I doubt she’s mowing the lawn either 🤣or cleaning all the bathrooms.

MmeArnault · 01/11/2022 22:34

No she does clean @Ohnonevermind there's even a picture.

Or any bathroom. But if I was her a I would do no housework either and would choose to spend the time as would save with the children.

Meghan’s house in the morning doesn’t sound that busy or chaotic to be honest. And a kids lunch. Make the night before and put in the fridge. It’s just the stuff all those ‘I’m so normal.’ Famous people say. The ones who have me picturing standing the kitchen serene while icing a chocolate cake to be ready effortlessly to take to a kids party. Meanwhile the reality is me sweating like a pig. Cake on the floor. Icing all over fridge. When people like her says these things I feel they are doing humanity a disservice.

Ohnonevermind · 01/11/2022 22:39

Not the whole thing 🤣 @MmeArnault - it would be a full time job for a house that size.

same with the gardens, and the pool, that would be another full time job

What’s a hands on Mum? A Mum who gives you time and is invested. Time is how you spend your love.

I don’t think it matters who drops at school or makes the food. It matters who talks to you about the day. Who cuddles you. Who gets up in the middle of the night because you’ve vomited everywhere and is there to see you back to sleep.

Roussette · 01/11/2022 22:42

Good grief she can't even talk to another mum about a typical chaotic morning routine with young kids without doing 'humanity a disservice'.

No wonder I stick up for her at times, talk about ridiculous criticism

So what’s the point of the staff and the nannies? If she is a hands on Mum as she says, what are they doing? She makes it sound like she’s a normal parent but the parenting is surely being mostly done by the staff. Otherwise why have them? Why send your 3 year old to nursery if you have nannies? I think she’s painting a picture of herself as hands on when she probably really isn’t. It just sounds like more fakery to me.I doubt very much she’s cleaning either. That’s her choice, but if she could be honest about her immense privilege that would be something, instead of pretending she’s a normal mother. She is in a very fortunate position where chaos in her household is a very different thing to most peoples.

If you are going to cause shame in others who will look at that and think…that’s a calm morning what am I doing wrong then you are. Given the aim of the podcast and all.

Ohnonevermind · 01/11/2022 22:45

I’m a little surprised as I would have thought a private preschool would provide lunch, with menu’s circulated in advance.

our local ‘early years education centre ’ a (non profit) cooks fresh dinners every day (menus posted up weekly). The manager says the kids all eat together and will eat things with their peers that they wouldn’t eat at home (feedback from parents)

Roussette · 01/11/2022 22:47

Disservice to humanity AND causing shame in others
Just talking in passing about a chaotic morning routine
Rightio.

Has she a string of nannies, last I heard she had one
I get the impression her and Harry are very hands on parents but to you that idea is fakery

How do you know for sure she has nannies?

ALL parents are normal parents. Working parents, non-working parents, parents with nannies, parents without nannies. Every single family does what works best for them, which is the point of the podcast.

Mom shaming is the absolute worst to me. I was pissed when Catherine got torn up on message boards over Louis at the Jubilee concert too.

Yes it is the worst.

But as we know this couple can do NO right so they're probably distant disinterested parents who leave the parenting to a string of staff because that would really fit the narrative.
