Unpopular Opinion - William and Kate

EdaYildiz · 13/10/2022 21:27

Don't come at me, I'm sharing my unpopular opinion because I want to know what you all think but just don't see a spark between William & Kate.

Loved them since the day they starting dating way back when they were undergrads at St Andrews but I just don't see their connection in pictures and it seems a little forced when she has her hand on his back or when they do hold hands.

I don't expect them to hold hands and snog because I know they're mostly photographed whilst they're working but he looks bored and she looks like she's trying her best.

Does anyone agree with me?

There are cases where an apology feels more like an insult. It’s just a way for someone to wash their hands of their own bad actions.

ArcaneWireless · 11/07/2024 14:41

A sorry to serve your own way forward is never a sorry.

It needs to come from the heart and to be said with sincerity.

I have yet to see sincerity from him. Or any integrity.

Since someone has revived this old thread the august New York magazine's sister website , "The Vulture" has done some sterling work as to how stories can get erased from the internet, but not totally as the writer finds out. Mumsnet gets a mention as well.

It’s incredible the amount of time pro Sussex posters spend decrying the evil, lying Daily Mail and the intrusive British tabloids. Yet here you are, posting an article complaining that a load of gossipy (and unsubstantiated and potentially libellous) DM articles have been deleted, on the behest of who knows, but conjecture that it is the RF is just that - guess work. And written by a journalist who also won’t reprint their contents due to legal reasons, so doesn’t even have the courage of her convictions to state that any of this gossip is true or leads to any definite conclusion. All this proves is that Catherine has had to suffer far more tabloid bullying and misogyny (and over a much longer period) than the insufferable, perennial victim Sussexes could ever hope to fill another tedious Netflix series with. Catherine, unlike her California counterpart, has never complained. Some (eg failure authors) might characterise that as being a good little Stepford Wife. Others call it strength, character and having the confidence to know who you are, critics be damned.

Wem no it's royal protocol to never complain it'd not something Catherine came in and did. 🙄 you can credit her for toeing the line

ArcaneWireless · 11/07/2024 17:25

It is also amazing that folk blame discordant opinions on DM reading instead of thinking folk may have formed their own opinions after watching OW and the like.

ArcaneWireless · 11/07/2024 17:27

I can credit her for having a lot more class than some.

Will that do?

I’m sure Sentebale would agree. Why not ask her?

I can credit her for taking on the stance that has worked so well for the RF.

Stories quite often get removed from the websites that published them if they are untrue and defamatory and the publication in question gets challenged to prove that they are true, or face the consequences. If the Hanbury family had indeed decided to instruct lawyers to challenge these publications, and they took the articles down, that rather tells its own story, doesn’t it?

Thought this thread was about William and kate...yet that's what the thread title is but always got to shoehorn in H&M somehow

Borrrring.

Oh no hang on - you don't come up with an assertion and then fail to back it up. What a cop out!!

Good job you're not paid - whoever was paying you would be looking for a refund!

She’s fucking brilliant at her job! Toeing the line to you, understanding the institution and her role in furthering it to others. Fully supported by her family on both sides of her marriage. No wonder H&M supporters hate her do. The jealousy those two must feel because they failed where she succeeded.

I call it showing strength of character, how she coped with the Mother’s Day ridiculous debacle then the international hounding of where is Kate? whilst being diagnosed with cancer I will never know, that’s not towing the line, that’s true grit under very distressing circumstances, no weeping and wailing on the floor from Catherine, just dignity in the face of international adversity.

I googled. There’s one video where she shrugs off his hand during a filmed segment with Mary Berry in 2019. That’s it. Kind of pathetic really. If that’s the bar, the Sussexes’ marriage is dead.

She quietly blew Bouzey and the SS out of the water, though, with her tributes to William on his birthday and Father's Day and then TTC. There is toeing the line and there is kicking ass

There are people who can never criticize their idols even when it’s appropriate and those that can never give praise to people they dislike, either.

Sometimes those are one and the same.

DawsonsFreak · 11/07/2024 17:56

It’s very telling though that yet again, when H&M are making a pig’s ear of it, the Rose Hanbury rumour gets trotted out. I seem to recall it all started after a night in Soho House Amsterdam, where Giles Coren was hanging out with the Sussex pair and their Soho acolytes. Funny that.

DawsonsFreak · 11/07/2024 18:01

On the matter of deleting stuff, the main fantasist who perpetuated the affair rumour based on Giles Coren’s jokey Tweet to Hadley Freeman, sending the rumours viral after she decided that’s what dog bowl was all about and made up some fan fiction based on it, back-pedalled like Mark Cavendish in a time machine once Coren made it very clear that he was only joking.

Nicola Cliffe was her name, she’s even mentioned in the Vulture article.

I mean, why is this so outrageous to fans of the man who has battled the tabloids about intrusion into private lives and printing falsehoods? The hypocrisy is staggering!

Catherine appreciates that she is in a privileged position and - like 99% of other Royals doesn’t publicly complain about things.
Unfortunately Meghan was so eaten up with jealousy that she wasn’t top dog that she decided to complain about her “ intolerable” life within the RF .
