Unpopular Opinion - William and Kate

1000 replies

EdaYildiz · 13/10/2022 21:27

Don't come at me, I'm sharing my unpopular opinion because I want to know what you all think but just don't see a spark between William & Kate.

Loved them since the day they starting dating way back when they were undergrads at St Andrews but I just don't see their connection in pictures and it seems a little forced when she has her hand on his back or when they do hold hands.

I don't expect them to hold hands and snog because I know they're mostly photographed whilst they're working but he looks bored and she looks like she's trying her best.

Does anyone agree with me?

Now that I would be interested in hearing about. (African Parks)

The silence has been disconcerting.

Well no surprise the usual H&M bashers are here so that's why

I don’t think you are allowed to call posters rude names here. Or at least I’m not. Do you have different rules?

Honestly can’t believe the people who are determined to see signs of unhappiness. They look incredibly in love to me. Obviously if you’re being photographed and filmed constantly whilst ‘at work’ you aren’t going g to be clinging to each other . They’re working. The body language looks and smiles indicate they are very in tune with each other. At the same time everyone has days when they feel unwell, tired or bored. Even people in the public eye.

They are actually quite sweet. The world has obviously loved seeing the less reserved side of William lately, too. It seems like a natural and healthy reaction after experiencing so much turmoil and uncertainty.

Ah, it’s an online hit and run then. Why do you think anyone here would google something just because of words you wrote?

TheFirmBiscuit · 11/07/2024 12:10

Since someone has revived this old thread the august New York magazine's sister website , "The Vulture" has done some sterling work as to how stories can get erased from the internet, but not totally as the writer finds out. Mumsnet gets a mention as well.

ArcaneWireless · 11/07/2024 12:14

Stories don’t get erased completely from the internet.

There are rather a lot about Meghan for example.

However, unlike some people, I have no motive for posting poisonous little links.

It is quite the tactic, don’t you think AliceOlive?

Most are not stupid enough to go down that dirty little hole.

ArcaneWireless · 11/07/2024 12:17

And when folk won’t back up their claims, I take it as read it is nasty shite.

But you don’t even have to read a post to twig that. Just the name will do it.

ArcaneWireless · 11/07/2024 12:22

So. Any word about African Parks at all?

No condemnation from the award winning president about the rape and torture claims?

If he has stepped away quietly from his role, I do understand.

But like other nastiness swirling round the Sussex family, silence to me is tacit acceptance.

What a hero and Prince among men.

In name. Not deed.

AliceOlive · 11/07/2024 12:22

Appropriate word choice, “stories”. Funny to say they are still available; of course they are, Biscuits, people like you keep them alive. All despite sources indicating that Meghan made up those “stories” out of jealousy after Rose sat next to Harry at a state dinner. I am sure those links can still be found, also.

AliceOlive · 11/07/2024 12:24

Is this a story or the truth? If true Meg better get word to her minions asap.

Soho House Stories.

A title for a book right there.

ArcaneWireless · 11/07/2024 12:29

I think if someone goes to the levels to besmirch someone that some have @AliceOlive, things can never fully be forgiven or forgotten.

A jar of jam and a sorry isn’t going to cut it. Not after all that has been said.

And as for the chattering of hangers on/dingleberries?

I suspect it wouldn’t be unreasonable to assume that Catherine thinks silence is complicity too.

Because it is.

And if you did, yhey would get taken.down and you might get banned. But equally vile rumours about William are notbseen in the same way, it seems.

Anyone know anything about when that German documentary is going to air, BTW?

It may not be the expose you are hoping for and even if it does give legs to some of the more lurid tales we hear about , they aren't royal as many here like to point out, have chequred pasts no doubt (haven't we all ?) and very little to lose. Indeed foibles and faults are the grit that makes the pearl.

Grunewald had the chance to catch up with Prince Harry at the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf in September 2023, where she observed: "Now that Meghan is here, he is over the moon. They have been holding hands, cheering competitors on at various matches and games. They seem intimate and very close. Either that or they are very good actors. From where I've been watching, they seem very in love."

She added: "It felt like the old Harry was back. He talked to all of us. We had some little toys that we gave for Archie and Lilibet. He said he was enjoying Germany and has a lot of German in him, he was obviously referring to his family heritage."

Resurrecting old threads feels like:

AliceOlive · 11/07/2024 13:29

Sorry, didn’t mean to quote the long post about Harry and Meghan.

ArcaneWireless · 11/07/2024 13:38

Well indeed @Rhaidimiddim

I do think those who post or allude to these nasty rumours are lacking somewhat.

Imagine thinking that something you see on the internet must be true. A bit of an affliction that.

The German documentary, if factual, could be interesting enough. A puff piece or full on hatchet job would not.

I wonder if they will address African Parks.

Or if they will just do an OW sookfest.

DawsonsFreak · 11/07/2024 13:45

I didn’t think stalwarts peddled in nasty rumours about other people’s marriages. Especially ones that have been firmly quashed by the poor woman having her reputation besmirched by barely disguised misogyny, to the extent that Legal warnings issued. Just principled posts supporting the republican cause. Clearly I was wrong.

ArcaneWireless · 11/07/2024 13:51

I think the stalwarts - from memory - were fairly vociferous if you commented on hand holding and the happiness of one couple - while quite happily shoe-horning in a comment or nasty rumour about another couple without as much as a twinge.

Recollections may vary of course Dawson

Mine does not.

ThePoshUns · 11/07/2024 14:06

With regards to that article I still don't understand what the royals are supposed to apologise for. It was Harry that threw them under the bus. He's the one that needs to apologise.

ArcaneWireless · 11/07/2024 14:16

He will no more say sorry than folk will get a basket of lemons and a photo shoot with every jar of jam sold.

He should but sometimes actions go beyond the point where a sorry will count. It even register.

ArcaneWireless · 11/07/2024 14:26

Or. Not it.
