Unpopular Opinion - William and Kate

1000 replies

EdaYildiz · 13/10/2022 21:27

Don't come at me, I'm sharing my unpopular opinion because I want to know what you all think but just don't see a spark between William & Kate.

Loved them since the day they starting dating way back when they were undergrads at St Andrews but I just don't see their connection in pictures and it seems a little forced when she has her hand on his back or when they do hold hands.

I don't expect them to hold hands and snog because I know they're mostly photographed whilst they're working but he looks bored and she looks like she's trying her best.

Does anyone agree with me?

(Meghan) is inordinately and obviously so contrived, she seems to have no real sense of self

Yes, and this is why I wonder about the "confidence" which so many insist she has. In such a situation there'll always be expectations around how someone should appear and behave, but IME the truly confident are able to graft these onto their own personalities without loss of integrity

Sadly it's become clear that neither H or M have much integrity, so without any real principles - or at least any they can stick to - it's all become about silly stunts and noise with very little of value to back it up

ArcaneWireless · 24/06/2024 11:50

If memory serves - and it usually does - Spare did not say there was no talking in the car - that was Omid Scobie in Endgame, which proves they were briefing him as there was just the 4 of them (William driving).

Also, I believe there is footage showing that Harry was wearing a microphone during the Queen’s funeral (it was on Twitter a couple of weeks ago).

Catherine and William were right to nip their shit in the bud.

Catherine was on edge for good reason.

PrincessMee · 24/06/2024 11:54

There certainly seems to be something inside his jacket.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/06/2024 12:09

Thank, you, @Maireas, you're very kind - another nice piece here from a perhaps surprising source: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/gallery/2022/sep/16/we-are-very-much-amused-the-queens-sense-of-humour-in-pictures

And though I've seen that clip before, @ArcaneWireless (admittedly not on Twitter) I honestly struggle to believe even Harry would be quite so crass despite all that he's done. Surely it's just as possible that he's fiddling with his lapel because wearing medals has shifted it somehow?

CoffeeCantata · 24/06/2024 12:13

Arcane and Princess - oh my God! Definitely. What a prat. Does he think people are stupid? And he wonders why KC and others refuse to see him, or see him alone anyway. There were also those strange lumps and bumps (I'm not referring here to her lack of a decent brassiere!) in Meghan's white coat. Don't know if this was the same occasion. She had a very odd high collar and there was speculation as to whether this was hiding a wire.

I'm fascinated by who would have arranged this for them. Surely they'd need help getting it all sorted out properly? I imagine they both have help dressing - so how would that work? They are a pair of cheap, brazen, shameless. nasty, calculating, mercenary...people. No offence. 😂

People often ask on these threads, 'Why are you so interested in them? Why do you care?' etc, etc. Because, as someone upthread said, they are just endlessly entertaining psychological cases. I find their behaviour both past and present absolutely fascinating. There's also the excitement of wondering just what they'll try next.

ArcaneWireless · 24/06/2024 12:13

It is possible but I wouldn’t discount that a microphone was possible.

He has sold out his family already.

Why not try to get some more mileage for a few dollars more?

They took some very arty photos in private parts of the palace too. Nothing seems to be off limits.

ArcaneWireless · 24/06/2024 12:19

I of course don’t know for certain but as @CoffeeCantata says, their behaviour is out there for all to see. And their behaviour is beyond fascinating.

He is a modern day Judas in my opinion.

He has already stooped low. Lower wouldn’t be outwith the realms of possibility.

Harry. Limbo king.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/06/2024 12:27

Why not indeed, but I just felt it would be unthinkable to do it at a funeral of all things
Then again as I've said so often Harry seems a judgement free zone, so who knows what he's capable of - though it wouldn't have worked since IIRC they were kept well away after the service and left pretty promptly

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 24/06/2024 12:27

It is alleged that HM had the room where the Sandringham summit was held swept for bugs beforehand. When even your DGM doesn't trust you....

What an ass if he did do that with the cameras of the world on him. I mean, how was he going to produce it in another book or interview? "this is what I recorded my family saying at the Queen's funeral"? yeah, good move, HAz. That'll get you lots of support.

ArcaneWireless · 24/06/2024 12:51

I also think it would have been unthinkable for him to have done the things he’s done.

Yet here we are.

I think he is a sorry excuse of a person.

I would very much like to know what he told M about royal life and expectations.

I think he sold her a prince in a poke and promised her the lead role.

Of all the people she feels have let her down? I suspect it is him who would be at the top of the leaderboard.

Bitterness, resentment and lacking has made him the man he is. And not necessarily the one she thought she married.

If he is planning Spare 2 or he and M are going to do something else for Netflix then they need to try and come up with more Royal gossip as - rightly or wrongly- that’s what people want . Worthy though Invictus is , it’s not going to attract huge audiences and i can’t see a documentary about polo will set the heather alight !

And you can bet your bottom dollar that the RF worked that out long ago. Hence the freezing out. The sole USP the Sussexes have is the royal connection, and the plug's been pulled on that one, because clearly RF doesn't trust either of them.

CoffeeCantata · 24/06/2024 13:26

Yes - he's already suggested that everyone (especially W & C) were speechless with awe on first meeting her. Dream on, H & M! I suspect this idea came from Meghan.

Another reason Meghan fascinates me is that I've come across people a bit like her in real life (both work and social). I remember once our mum's group was joined by a very beautiful and chic woman who'd had a glam job in some media business. There was a certain look on her face when she met us - as if she was thinking 'I'll soon knock these suburban, provincial frumps for six!'. She had the same OTT manner as Meghan and would often talk non-stop....about herself. She even once said 'I don't normally mix with people like you guys!'

She didn't last long because, thankfully, the group was a grounded and sensible bunch. Once she realised she'd been 'seen through', she gave us all a wide berth and moved on to the next crowd. I just bet that when M was introduced to the RF, she thought 'I can show this stuffy lot how it's done!'

And as time goes by and the events and issues they'll have to put in the book or documentary recede into the past, the more petty and bitter they'll both seem. The reaction will be 'get over it and move on'.

PrincessMee · 24/06/2024 14:13

It does seem that the RF are having a lot to deal with right now. Possibly things that would have been kept quiet in the past are now more open. It just shows that in that respect any family can experience bad times as well as good. I believe there has been a keep on/ carry on/ don't let the bastards get you down attitude and if anything that has shown them to be resilient and thriving in the face of adversity. Have they complained? Have they whinged? Have they slagged others off? Harry and Meghan have nothing new to say. The big tidal wave of publicity has receded. They are yesterday's news apart from the press who do like to hold them up for inspection. If they were leading private lives then they would not get this but they are not. They both crave the limelight and the publicity. Meanwhile life has gone on here. The young Royals are getting older. Charles has shown a delight in his role as King. Camilla has stepped up and saved the day with her numerous activities on behalf of Charles. William and Kate continue to flourish in their new roles.

Do the people that come on these threads everyday read their own comments? H&M are ‘yesterday’s news’, but you’re still talking about them today… and will be tomorrow, and the day after that. And, likely, the years to follow. Meanwhile, they’re living the lives that they want, unaffected by your jealousy disdain. No matter how you try to spin it, they're not the sad ones in this scenario.

The poster sounds oddly familiar.

I'm just a little surprised she hasn't told us that we're all 'old' yet. Hence our intense 'jealousy' for that 'youthful' pair. But I guess it can't be long coming.

If they aren’t sad then they are heartless.

ArcaneWireless · 24/06/2024 15:01

They may be unaffected by my disdain. And snorts of derision. Scorn. Disgust. My moments of laughing at them.

Their actions are worthy of my comments.

Even if they were aware of them, they have too much of a thick skin to let it bother them. And a brass neck or two. Although that could just be layers of bronzer that have been allowed to build up.

Which is fine.

It doesn’t mean that others are unable to have their opinion and give it.

I’m not sad. Nor are those who comment.

Although if those who comment on M&H on here are sad , that would include you too.

You cannot differentiate.

Why not address the point the poster is making, rather than make a comment about the poster themselves?

Whoever they are; and frankly it doesn’t matter, I think they make a very good point!

Rather an odd comment, given that the poster, whose style is very familiar to regulars here, made no 'point' other than to criticise others.

Are you OK with personal comments provided you agree with them? It seems so.

ArcaneWireless · 24/06/2024 15:10

The point they are making would be worthy of discussion.

Unfortunately they chose to cast sweeping assertions alongside their point.

Rude.
