Harry and Meghan doing alright in the US, continuing their universal service

Have heard a few comments from panellists and commenters thinking that Harry somehow wants to come back to the UK?

I highly doubt this. I think they are doing more than ok in the US.

A pity a positive thread has been deleted regarding the podcasts, maybe the positive conversation can continue here?

In particularly I wanted to highlight the announcement that they will be recipients for the Robert J Kennedy Human Rights award.

“When The Duke and Duchess accepted our award laureate invitation back in March, we were thrilled. The couple has always stood out for their willingness to speak up and change the narrative on racial justice and mental health around the world,” Kerry Kennedy, president of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, and Robert F. Kennedy's daughter, said in a statement shared today. “They embody the type of moral courage that my father once called the ‘one essential, vital quality for those who seek to change a world that yields most painfully to change.’”

I think it's this one. MM wanted vegan wedding dishes but said there was egg in one of them but the staff said there wasn't. MM wouldn't back down and got cross. TQ told her that they don't speak to people like that

Who was there for the egg conversation? Are they reliable named sources. ‘Who was there for the egg conversation’ - god help me, I can’t believe this! This is not intelligent conversation. Eggs.

Redfrangipani · 12/10/2022 22:56

This was to a link on Fox News. Oh yeah, the bastion of balanced and fair reporting. 😂

They’re not the source though, as I’ve said. They’re only repeating it.

But believe what you want.

lickenchugget

you put it far more eloquently than me 😂

Labelling a thread 'positive' doesn't make it so.
Nor does it apparently keep the sockpuppets at bay.

Orders76 · 12/10/2022 23:45

Not just black and brown people. They looked at the Irish as being subhuman, tried to force genocide on a nation and still own a huge amount of the country now.

MrsVonSydow · 12/10/2022 23:49

Apologies, that wasn’t intentionally excluded. Just didn’t understand why that was being bought up to shame another poster for not being pro Meghan

@HannaHanna PBS is American, not British.
The links are post Mexit and I asked for racism and misogyny pre the disgraceful pairs vendetta against the royal family. Articles at the funeral really don't count as the damage has been caused by them with their lies and fake claims. Eg. Harry said he turned to his wife at a theatre performance and said she was sobbing. Yet photos before and after showed no distress and no smudged mascara. Their lies are so childish.

Of course they are disliked for behaving they way they have, but they were universally welcomed by the British media. Far more so the Catherine. I have no problem with the media rubbishing either Harry or MM, but any racism or misogyny is unacceptable.

you should have a big problem with the media rubbishing Harry and Meghan.

and because you don’t get a media still image of a woman it never happened? Honestly, how could anyone be that naive in this day and age.

Redfrangipani · 12/10/2022 23:57

If it was the thread from yesterday - no. It was not positive. I think the subject matter was an excellent topic - Racism experienced by Asian Americans and Hollywood tropes in regard to the Dragon Lady but that thread was not positive. I made the mistake of mentioning that the last podcast about mental health was good imo, on this thread, and got laughed at. So let’s leave the Archetypes topic off here.

Orders76 · 12/10/2022 23:57

Sorry MrsVonSydowjuat felt I had to point out the RF aren't black/ brown racists. Totally agree though, not sure what it is to do with MH and actually like him, think he's been lost for a long time and hope she's good for him.

Ohnonevermind · 12/10/2022 23:58

@Orders76

Most English people have no idea to be honest do they about how badly we were treated.

25% of the Irish population - two million people died or fled during the Irish famine in the 1840’s while the British government adopted the laissez-faire policy and we only reached those population levels again in the last couple of years.

UK governments passing laws to ensure our products were uncompetitive compared to the U.K.

The Catholic religion banned as was the Irish language.

Redfrangipani · 12/10/2022 23:58

It’s got to do with racism. You work it out.

Redfrangipani · 12/10/2022 23:59

Whoops @lickenchugget

its got to do with racism. As I said, you work it out.

Ohnonevermind · 13/10/2022 00:01

It’s got to do with the lying and the bullying !

EchoPark · 13/10/2022 00:01

So let’s leave the Archetypes topic off here.

Bit bossy.

Orders76 · 13/10/2022 00:01

Ohnonevermindad they say 'history is taught by the winners' none of this is taught to our closest neighbors.
I still love watching a good BBC Cromwell-as-saint documentary with the awe of someone from a country he levelled.
Surely he should be posthumously levelled himself by now😂

Oh, get over yourself. Someone else brought it up and a poster asked what they were referring to so I replied. It's a story that's gone round. I don't know if it's true. I don't care if it's true. If you want you know the sources, search it out yourself. If you're not interested in the sources, stop having a go.

RumorRomeo · 13/10/2022 00:17

What ‘positive’ thread? Is it the same one that kept dictating who was allowed to post and what they were allowed to post? Most people got fed up and left, until it was just sock puppets remaining so it ended up deleted anyway 😂

EchoPark · 13/10/2022 00:22

That's the one RumorRomeo.

The OP wants this thread to be like that one.

A PP read that memo and has ordered that we don't mention the Archetype podcast on here.

HannaHanna · 13/10/2022 00:23

lickenchugget · 12/10/2022 21:07

No, it’s from Katie Nicholl of Vanity Fair, back in 2019

Here

Oh I not think we accept American sources on this thread. See above! 😂

HannaHanna · 13/10/2022 00:25

*do not.

Redfrangipani · 13/10/2022 00:26

@MrsVonSydow

i write letters to the MPs of the Australian Govt. I vote for people who I believe may do something to right wrongs of past and current days if given the power to do so. I participate in petitions. I have bought my children up to think on these matters of racial inequalities and systemic racism.

I was not shaming anyone - just trying to explain my take on how racism works in my country and why. Knowing about one’s country’s racial history is admitting to it - which some people can’t bring themselves to do. To say ‘I am not a racist’ and not recognise the racism involved in building these nations is passively participating in racism.

That poster may not have been a racist - she said she was not - and I did not call her one. I referred to White British people and white Australians being the beneficiaries of systemic racism, no one else. I have no faux outrage. I have a degree in Australian Hidtory though and each day I become more informed about what has occurred since 1788 and what still occurs.

if Meghan Markle knowingly wore a blood or stolen diamond than that is, imo, shameful. The whole royal family is then shameful in that regard.!But it still does not mean that she has not experienced racism and misogyny.

The last people on that thread were me, the OP, and a couple others. Highly doubt that the ones left at the end were the sock puppets.

MarshaMelrose · 13/10/2022 00:29

I still love watching a good BBC Cromwell-as-saint documentary with the awe of someone from a country he levelled.

What are these documentaries? 🤔

I'm British. I'm in my 60s. I have never heard Oliver Cromwell portrayed as a saint. Not even at school. I love history programmes and I've never seen any portray him in a fond way, although he was an able leader. I think he was pretty unpopular amongst the English for the strictures that he put on the general population's way of life. There's a reason why they decided to go back to monarchs and the rake Charles ii was much loved. I just don't recognise Cromwell as a saint like figure.
