Harry and Meghan doing alright in the US, continuing their universal service

Have heard a few comments from panellists and commenters thinking that Harry somehow wants to come back to the UK?

I highly doubt this. I think they are doing more than ok in the US.

A pity a positive thread has been deleted regarding the podcasts, maybe the positive conversation can continue here?

In particularly I wanted to highlight the announcement that they will be recipients for the Robert J Kennedy Human Rights award.

“When The Duke and Duchess accepted our award laureate invitation back in March, we were thrilled. The couple has always stood out for their willingness to speak up and change the narrative on racial justice and mental health around the world,” Kerry Kennedy, president of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, and Robert F. Kennedy's daughter, said in a statement shared today. “They embody the type of moral courage that my father once called the ‘one essential, vital quality for those who seek to change a world that yields most painfully to change.’”

You think accusing someone of being a liar and a fantasist for saying something which demonstrably happened is being nicer?

And then, when asked for evidence and is given it, goes on to disregard it and call people names, is being nicer?

That’s not nice behaviour, is not redressing the balance, it’s denying something that’s factual, and calling people name.
I don’t understand the need to do that personally, you can have empathy for someone without resorting to denying reality

Well said .
Also , the disputed photo was NOT William .
Sometimes it’s better to admit you are wrong than perpetuate an untruth .

Ohnonevermind · 25/10/2022 09:38

@notanotheroneagain

if you see something, why don’t you
follow the guidelines and report rather than making allegations to a poster on here ?

You’ve called posters all kinds of horrible names on here and even when presented with proof have kept it up, and even escalated it

Samcro · 25/10/2022 09:40

wow did someone really trawl through an old thread to pick a fight?

notanotheroneagain · 25/10/2022 09:40

@Ohnonevermind , I think you will find, I have been called all sorts horrible names on here.

I’ve asked MNHQ to (at their leisure) confirm I’m not more than me on this thread!

@DuchessOfPort 👍

Samcro · 25/10/2022 10:24

i have a feeling certain posters want this thread deleted. same thing happens every time with any positive thread.

Ohnonevermind · 25/10/2022 10:25

@Samcro

I would disagree, posters have provided factual videos to dispute the narrative being peddled.

I think you’ll find the fight had already been picked, and not by me. The thread was posted to show the poster was engaging in yet more twisting of the truth on this thread.

Anyway, back to H&M.

They are indeed thriving and doing well. Looking forward to the new podcast today.

They do seem to be thriving; that’s why I don’t understand why people take to their screens each day to lambast them (although I have my suspicions). It has no effect on the couple’s lives whatsoever. If anything I think it rather helps their cause. Each time one of them clicks on one of their platform links they support the cause of maintaining the couple’s relevance. This means the Duke and Duchess of Sussex can continue to secure lucrative business deals to maintain ‘the good life’ and the media will keep falling over themselves to feature them on their front pages – ensuring that they are continuously talked about. It seems a just outcome. This irony won’t be lost on the couple, I’m sure. They must be laughing all the way to Coutts (or wherever they house their millions).

Ohnonevermind · 25/10/2022 10:35

I think we can all remember moments such as the poster declaring William was in blackface and the pictures were ‘all over the internet’ and to look for them ourselves. That was such a fantasy narrative, you don’t forget in a hurry or forget the posters name.

This same poster continues to defy logical thinking in her support of MM and PH, even when presented with video footage showing them openly touting for work.

I don’t really know if this poster and this argument is the one hill to die on though, but work away

@Mrsorganmorgan

You are misinformed. She did not say that. Although there are social media trolls and some lesser media outlets that would like you to believe she said that. Their aim is that you will do exactly what they intend for you to do - not like her..

plus if you know you are not racist what is there to be upset about?

Personally I’m a white woman from a mostly white patriarchal society where both misogyny and racism are systemic. and I am aware that as well meaning as I am, I’m going to be racist at times because I’m not only not going to realise I’m being racist, I participate in a society that has racism at its core. A society that is built on racism. No, we’re not going around saying racist things. Not all of us anyway. We aren’t having conscious racist thoughts (and if we do, we correct our erroneous perceptionS) - but again, not all of us do so. A person’s duty is to realise what racism they might be practicing, albeit completely unknowingly, and then to stop it.

I come from Australia, a land that was colonised (in fact it was Invaded by the British) but the British had been what they thought, very clever. Before the. 1788 colonisation/invasion Britain declared Australia to be “Terra Nullius” - no man’s land. Effectively the British thought this gave them absolute right to invade, colonise and settle taking land from the people who were already here, and setting up a systematic series of the most terrible policies which involved masssacre - often by poisoning First Nations peoples drinking holes - so they massacred whole families from babies to Elders in age - Apartheid (the South African system of apartheid was modelled on Australia’s system , stealing their children, deliberately making them sick, after stealing their land they would sometimes put them on missions on that very land, and give them food like flour and sugar which was not at all nutritious, stolen children were sent to kids homes - not particularly treated well in most of those homes and then around 13 they were sent as slave labour, given food and often most rudimentary lodgings and in those places were often treated most foul. The children often never saw their parents again. Their mothers mourned them, and First Nations people families and culture was often decimated. Not completely, but only because white society came up against Resistance.

First Nations people did fight back - however that was never put into the school history books. We know now about The Australian Wars. The Frontier Wars. Neither were the massacres, the stolen generations etc in school history books. In the late 60s First Nations people set up a tent embassy outside Australian Federal Parliament that remains there to this day. I could go on, but I’d have to write a book and I’m not a good writer. And First Nations people are the ones to tell the story.

But if you are white British or White Australian you’d better know that you have benefitted from the stealing of land and massacres and murders of the people who lived there from start. Today you live as you do, in part because the British govt. and the Australian Federal govt from 1901 did all these bad bad things.

The amount of land owned by the British Monsrchy in Australia to this day is substantial. The Church of England (now known as the Anglican Church) also have very substantial landholdings. People got rich off what other people owned. The second sons of British aristocratic families were sent here to make their fortunes on land bought for s pittance from the British Govt. The convicts sent here in the most terrible conditions - brutalised themselves often brutalised members of First Nations people. The examples go on. But we live in societies that have benefited from all the above:

Brilliant post.

Agree. I strongly suspect that there are people on here paid to spread lies and derail discussions. Still, very few people are taken in by it. The consensus is leaning firmly in one direction.

Agree. It’s all very bizarre. Just a blanket policy of thinking literally everything the Sussexes do is magnificent. No critical faculty at all.

Isn't it just !

I know the ins and outs of the apartheid era, but it was so enlightening to hear about this section of Australian history in a bit more in detail.

@Redfrangipani summary was brilliant.

Specifically, the critical faculty is deliberately disabled. It very much reads like damage control as a paid service.

That would be such an error if it were paid for. The damage control just sparks some really interesting and informed debate which wouldn’t necessarily come up if there wasn’t a sort of robotic computer-says-no barrage of unfettered gushing.

There is so much MORE analysis as a result of those posts, which ends up being a deep dive into some of the things I reckon the Sussexes’ PR firms seriously don’t want things looked at, and definitely not to that level.
