Heart in mouth stuff. I always held my babies firmly under the bum.

What I think does matter is the constant ganging up against any OP who is mildly critical of anyone except H and M. It happens every single time.

Ganging up? They disagree with the OP. That’s the very essence of how Mumsnet works.

Purple52 · 08/10/2022 07:17

Maybe she feels it’s not very nice to hold a baby by the bum/crutch?
maybe when you really don’t know who the child belongs to (in a personal way) you don’t want a handful of urine soaked nappy. (Yeah appreciate baby is probably wearing a disposable - but still).

maybe she didn’t want a daily fail and Mumsnet post about holding baby’s intimate areas!!

she didn’t drop the baby. Looks like he’s wanting to see what’s going on in the room. but he’s not going anywhere.

she probably didn’t put him over her shoulder if she was passed him at that angle and most would be cautious about the possibility of a shoulder full of milky baby vomit if you did!!

Most mothers know how to hold a baby. I think these pictures tell you everything you need to know about her involvement in her own children's upbringing

The notion that she wasn't in the habit of holding her own babies is absolute bollocks.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 08/10/2022 10:11

I had four of mine own and studied childcare.
I held mine that like a lot. It’s not a two hand hold. Just because the other hand is there at that point. Sometimes it’s for adjusting, or for doing other stuff. At one point she was stroking the babies face with it.
there’s nothing odd about it at all.
Man U comfortable baby would complain.
Still shots always make things look weirder than they are.

*An uncomfortable

But this is my point exactly. I would never hold a baby with my wrist pointing that way and grabbing the baby’s leg from the top. I would always curve my arm so my hand would be under the baby’s bottom or leg so I would be holding it up, not grabbing down.

Her hand is clearly under the baby’s leg.

Honestly some people are actually ridiculous. 🙄 as the grandmother of this baby I am perfectly content with how she was holding our wee man. He was perfectly safe and relaxed the entire time the Princess was holding him. Honestly OP get a grip 🤣

I have to ask, did you just sign up to mumsnet to make your point on here, as I’ve just seen you on Facebook saying the sane thing 😂
I am very glad your grandchild survived the cuddle by the Princess of Wales 😂

The children's grandparents are ranting about this thread on Facebook OP, they're planning to take it to their solicitor Grin

AnnunciataZ · 08/10/2022 16:02

This thread is ridiculous but taking it to a solicitor even more so! What basis for legal action do the grandparents think they have?

Kia0827 · 08/10/2022 16:57

I joined to report the thread actually because it is honestly utterly ridiculous then I made the mistake of reading more of the comments and honestly some of them totally baffle me. Do people honestly think his mother would have allowed it to continue if he were uncomfortable or unhappy. If he was crying I'd imagine that Kate wouldn't want to hold onto him knowing that his mother would soothe him quicker. Instead what's not seen in the video as its short is that he was smiling at her, cooing away and playing with the bow on her blouse whilst she held him. He was perfectly content and happy and that's a fact. Not speculation but an actual fact because he is my grandson. Utter nonsense from some people. How did she not drop him... because she isn't an idiot and who in their right mind would agree to holding a baby if they didn't feel confident. 🤣🙈

Kia0827 · 08/10/2022 16:58

Utter lies. I have zero intention of going to a solicitor. What utter nonsense

JaneJeffer · 08/10/2022 17:01

That baby isn't your grandson by any chance @Kia0827?

antelopevalley · 08/10/2022 17:02

I did not witness that on the video. But I can no longer see the video. Does anyone have a link or has it been pulled?

The video wasn't posted just screenshots to support the OP's theory omitting what actually happened.

Kia0827 · 08/10/2022 17:08

The video is on you tube. Google Princess of Wales holds baby in Northern Ireland and it will come up. Its a v brief video Lasting less than 2 mins but not once is he crying of seemingly unhappy.

antelopevalley · 08/10/2022 17:08

I found the video on the Mail website. Now I cant find it anywhere.

Kia0827 · 08/10/2022 17:09

I'm assuming this is sarcasm. Just wanted to clarify that I have zero intention of seeking legal advice and I haven't posted anything on fb to suggest I am, ranting or otherwise

Shannon003 · 08/10/2022 17:43

Hi. I am isaacs mum. I cannot believe someone has posted something like this! I kindly asked the princess would she like a nurse of Isaac and she said absolutely! She held him firmly, he was not frightened he was not upset he was very content in her arms, cooing at her, smiling and grabbing hold of her bow. I can say now he was SAFE in her arms! I was standing right there! I think it is a beautiful memory to look back on and we will NEVER get this opportunity again. She asked William did he want a nurse but he jokingly said “he would definitely be sick on me” 😂. But I CANNOT say enough that Isaac was VERY SAFE AND VERY HAPPY IN HER ARMS!

JaneJeffer · 08/10/2022 17:52

Just waiting for great granny now...

Shannon003 · 08/10/2022 17:54

Do you mind? Can you keep your comments to yourself! My mum is trying to stick by me and stop this whole thing!

Kia0827 · 08/10/2022 17:55

Tell me this @JaneJeffer if someone posted a ridiculous post stating that ur child or grandchild was unsafe and uncomfortable and unhappy as many of these comments have said... would u want to put the factual accurate account of what happened?

girlmom21 · 08/10/2022 17:56

Shannon003 · 08/10/2022 17:54

Best way to stop it is ignore it.

JaneJeffer · 08/10/2022 17:56

I would ignore them instead of getting the whole family to bump up the thread Hmm

Kia0827 · 08/10/2022 18:03

I mean if I want to set the correct narrative then I can. I chose to state who I was to make sure it was known it was factual. Just because your being a keyboard warrior and being ridiculous with ur comments then u do u. But when I'm accused wrongly of ranting and wanting to take legal action as a grandparent when actually I've not been on Facebook since first thing this am and certainly didn't post anything of the sort then I'm going to correct the false narrative. I'm also going to correct the false narrative that the child was unsafe, and uncomfortable. Feel free to slate me some more. I'm done replying to you because like I said ur clearly being a typical keyboard warrior. Enjoy 😉
