Heart in mouth stuff. I always held my babies firmly under the bum.

I was amazed at how well she dealt with a heckler in Belfast today. The lady is entitled to her views and to work for change, but it was a bit off to have a go at Kate when the lady proffered her hand and was shoving a camera phone in Kate's face.

The woman was xenophobic and racist in that exchange. It basically amounts to "Brits Out!" - this is another indicator to Unionist Protestants and Catholics any united Ireland would be a cold house for them. Or at least the Northern Ireland part would be.

She's not entitled to xenophobic and racist attitudes though. Kate has more class in her wee finger than that woman has in her whole body!

Ironically, plenty of people from Great Britain live in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The racist xenophobe would be shocked...

I really don't like Kate Middleton but come on, there's nothing at all wrong with the way she's holding the baby!

Saying that, she’s always had plasters on her fingers for years.
Does she bite her nails or something?

That’s one thing I have in common with her! I’m always cutting or burning my fingers so I frequently have plasters on them.
She clearly adores babies and little ones. I know most people do but you can she’s genuinely passionate.

ElizabethBest · 06/10/2022 19:25

I work in maternity. This is how lots of us hold babies? She’s supporting its head and bearing the weight with one arm, leaving the other hand free to do other things. The pic is at a weird angle, that’s all.

Most mothers know how to hold a baby. I think these pictures tell you everything you need to know about her involvement in her own children's upbringing

Yep!!

that she a confident, competent mother..

BranstonPickleandPeanutButter · 06/10/2022 19:32

This is hilarious, totally the way I held my babies while trying to do other things. You just naturally do it.

Oh please. Stop embarrassing yourself.

Mumandcarer · 06/10/2022 19:55

She is supporting the babies head and bottom though not cradling him. That’s just one photo plus the parent/parents might have been holding him like that and said that was how he was most comfortable. All babies are different my son was a long skinny baby not much fat on him because of a placental abruption. He needed more support than my daughter who was a chunky baby. I was carrying her on my hip from about 8 weeks she wanted to be upright looking around not lieing down.

Ramblingnamechanger · 06/10/2022 19:59

More concerning was the trans flag very prominently displayed at a mental health charity. Are they not watching what is happening?

It's an Oscar winner. A prisoner escapes from the camp he lives in and breaks into a country house. He finds clothes and food and the opportunity to restart his life. As he leaves the farm through the first he leaves a baby abandoned in a basket in the woods. Unable to leave a child to die he takes her, Ties her in a sling, and starts walking. His life will never be the same...

Pregnant Ukrainian fighter: escapes Russian POW camp, manages to delay labour until reaching safety of Red Cross facilities.

She was so xenophobic - very unpleasant to tell anyone they should stay in 'their own country', whoever they are. Gave me a bit of a shiver.

This is the most ridiculous post, it can't be real.

I'm very pleased MM is getting a break though!

Pinkittens · 06/10/2022 20:25

Baby looks perfectly secure. She knows what she's doing.

Samcro · 06/10/2022 20:27

Omg I have only just got the prisoner of war thing

milti · 06/10/2022 20:48

nasty thread to start

whoamI00 · 06/10/2022 21:09

What a ridiculous thread

ohfook · 06/10/2022 21:38

You can see from this angle there's literally nothing wrong with the way she's holding him.

People are so weird about holding babies. I remember similar threads about Meghan too. Babies come in different weights, sizes, wrigglyness- we don't all need to hold every baby in a uniform manner.

How did the PoW not drop the baby?
LadyLyndon · 06/10/2022 22:27

But this is my point exactly. I would never hold a baby with my wrist pointing that way and grabbing the baby’s leg from the top. I would always curve my arm so my hand would be under the baby’s bottom or leg so I would be holding it up, not grabbing down.

Do you expect everyone to do other things exactly the same way as you @LadyLyndon?

I think you should write to the RF and explain that you know better than anyone how babies should be held (not a commoner like me with 4) and you should be appointed baby bum supporter.

Maybe you're just less comfortable holding babies than she is. I've never put that much thought into it unless it's a newborn who needs their head supported.
