Heart in mouth stuff. I always held my babies firmly under the bum.

Most mothers know how to hold a baby. I think these pictures tell you everything you need to know about her involvement in her own children's upbringing

Isaidnoalready · 06/10/2022 15:35

Practice

MolliciousIntent · 06/10/2022 15:36

Because she's held a baby before?

I have never in my life seen anyone drop a baby.

BabbleBee · 06/10/2022 15:40

She’s got her hand twisted so it is under the baby if you look at the film in a different angle. Pretty much how I held mine when I had to use the other hand for cooking, other DCs, life with a baby and older kids really!

Samcro · 06/10/2022 15:42

she is obviously used to holding babies.

PeloFondo · 06/10/2022 15:42

She's perfectly capable of holding one! Another photo

Yeah it's how you hold babies when you need a free hand - i.e. most mothers and definitely every mother of more than one child!

Ship · 06/10/2022 15:46

She didn’t drop it because she has 3 of her own and knows how to hold a baby

HorribleHerstory · 06/10/2022 15:48

Heart in mouth stuff?! Really?

she doesn’t look in the least like she is going to drop the baby. She has a firm hold of them along the head, back and knee. It’s how many people hold an older baby in a one handed cradle. It would probably make more sense to have done an upright carry but if you were handed the baby in a cradle position you would probably respect that.

As for always holding the bottom firmly - always? In all positions? At all ages? There are lots of ways of holding babies that don’t involve holding the bottom.

NiqueNique · 06/10/2022 15:48

That’s an Expert Mother’s hold. Perfectly safe and nothing to get freaked out about.

That’s the cruel take. The other, more likely one, is this is the expert hold you use when you have multiple children and are looking after more than one at once.

NiqueNique · 06/10/2022 15:57

And just for the record, there wasn’t anything wrong with how Meghan held her baby on that day at the polo, either. 🙄🙄

DevaleraSpawnOfSatan · 06/10/2022 15:57

I have a spare grip you are welcome to borrow it.

Haha. She's not looking after more than once here though, is she? Why would you decide to utilise your "expert hold" that you've perfected in the supermarket or wherever when you are holding ONE baby in front of cameras? You'd hold it properly, if only you knew how.

NiqueNique · 06/10/2022 16:05

That is a perfectly proper way to hold a baby! I should know - I’ve had a few, come from a very big family with lots of babies, have a background in babyhood/early years education and have many years’ experience with babies, toddlers and young children.

MrsFinkelstein · 06/10/2022 16:06

Former Midwife here and mum of twins here.
Absolutely nothing wrong with how she's holding the baby.
Can't believe anyone is saying anything else.

TheIsaacs · 06/10/2022 16:07

Because she is a perfectly competent adult, who has three children of her own, plus nieces, nephews and cousins. Do you think because she’s a Princess that she has no functioning arms or something?

Samcro · 06/10/2022 16:09

she looked really at ease in the bit I saw on tv, even touching a babies foot(which is irresistible.)

It’s just utterly mad isn’t it. That you’d care so much about such a non-event in the first place, and moreover that you’d care enough to make an actual thread about it! What a weird response to such a very normal way of doing something.

SnoozyLucy7 · 06/10/2022 16:11

Good grief.

friedbrainrightnow · 06/10/2022 16:12

This went well OP Blush
