Heart in mouth stuff. I always held my babies firmly under the bum.

Can't understand why people appear to be taking personal offence to this. It does look strange from that angle, OP.

Because it's being unnecessarily critical.

I wouldn't have clicked on it otherwise. It's not possible to see which board a thread has been posted under on the list of trending topics.

Yup, I thought it must be film smuggled out of Ukraine.

Most mothers know how to hold a baby. I think these pictures tell you everything you need to know about her involvement in her own children's upbringing

That she's clearly been hands on.

MrsFinkelstein · 06/10/2022 16:06

Former Midwife here and mum of twins here.
Absolutely nothing wrong with how she's holding the baby.
Can't believe anyone is saying anything else.

Thank you. That's really all we need to know.
What a mean thread.

wordler · 06/10/2022 17:04

I watched the video and it certainly was more awkward a hold than she normally has - possibly the way he was handed over and she just went with it.

I think these pictures tell you everything you need to know about her involvement in her own children's upbringing

This kind of comment though is bizarre and trying to be provocative - there's mountains of video evidence showing just how hands on the PoW is with her own kids, she clearly loves kids and is good at interacting with them even the ones she just met. There's potentially loads of things you could criticise Kate for but not having a relationship with her children isn't one which will stick.

And to the person who brought Meghan into the thread - yes, she did hold Archie very awkwardly in that first outing at the polo match - it was very noticable, however she was a brand new Mum and still getting used to everything, it's not a bad thing not to be great a something immediately. I'm not really a Meghan fan but I sympathize with having to manage all those new Mum nerves in front of a barrage of cameras.

My thoughts were she might have had some pain/mastitis going on because it seemed as though she couldn't relax into holding him into her chest area.

WoodenStackingRainbow · 06/10/2022 17:04

Well I read the title as prisoner of war so this was not the thread I was expecting

NiqueNique · 06/10/2022 17:05

The book idea sounds great! Could also make an interesting riddle.

How did the PoW not drop the baby?
FrankTheThunderbird · 06/10/2022 17:05

Also opened the thread expecting a tale of heroics from a prisoner of war saving a baby whilst escaping.

But anyway...

I can't actually work out how I'd hold a baby in one arm and have a hold on their bum. I might have to find a largish soft toy and see. I had lovely snuggles with a friends newborn earlier and definitely held her the same as the Princess of Wales is in that photo.

aloris · 06/10/2022 17:06

I want to stand up for Meghan here. Albeit fairly tall, she is short-waisted, broad-shouldered, and Archie was a very long baby (Prince Harry is quite tall). I am similar (although a lot shorter) and photos of me with my baby always looked like that. My baby was perfectly secure, just very long and liked to be an octopus.

Oh lordy, I remember that! 😲

Benjispruce4 · 06/10/2022 17:06

What is this thread even for? She didn’t drop the baby.

Me too and I was really interested.

I thought it might have been about how they kept them safe etc or had labour in such circumstances or what happened then?

Butchyrestingface · 06/10/2022 17:11

TheOrigRights · 06/10/2022 16:12

I thought this was about a prisoner of war.

Yup, I thought I was about to see some incredible footage of some poor sod, riddle with bullets or malnourished, miraculously managing to hold a baby aloft above a stampeding crowd or something (overactive imagination).

Anyway, never had kids. Can't see what she's supposed to be doing wrong? Confused

It's an Oscar winner. A prisoner escapes from the camp he lives in and breaks into a country house. He finds clothes and food and the opportunity to restart his life. As he leaves the farm through the first he leaves a baby abandoned in a basket in the woods. Unable to leave a child to die he takes her, Ties her in a sling, and starts walking. His life will never be the same...

Beautiful Roach.

The baby, at first grizzling, is calmed by the rhythm of his walking and the cadence of the army chants he will never forget. As day turns to dusk, he comes to a rickety bridge...

one hand around the baby's leg & the other under its arm. Isn't that a perfectly normal way to hold a baby?

@MrsFezziwig that really was a heart-in-mouth moment!

Mummysharkdoodoodoodoodoodoo · 06/10/2022 17:14

I saw this in 'trending' and thought it was something about a prisoner of war

ChiefPearlClutcher · 06/10/2022 17:14

Scraping the barrel here OP

taybert · 06/10/2022 17:16

In my experience, people who aren’t used to holding babies are more careful, not less.

OhmygodDont · 06/10/2022 17:16

A mother holding a baby with one arm/hand? That’s pretty normal stuff anyone who can’t hasn’t held a baby enough to know how.

she’s got three children yes she has bell but even holding a mobile for a call and a baby means one hand on baby and one on phone and I’m sure she’s done that at least once in all her childrens baby stages.

OhmygodDont · 06/10/2022 17:17

Help not bell. Silly phone.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 06/10/2022 17:22

Looks perfectly fine to me, how often do people drop babies anyway.
