Going back in time , do we know when the Windsor photos were released? , we're they released after similar pictures of the royal family? Or just standalone pictures? .
Am wondering because, the release of the H&M pictures were released after the subsequent pictures of the royal family!

The Sussex pair (of clowns) always seem to piggy pack into things that involve the royal family in the media for whatever reason - it's churlish and essentially who does the world need to see pix of these two? We don't! They need to just stop trying to elevate themselves to a kind of royalty of their own ... it's frankly embarrassing

AdoraBell · 05/10/2022 12:31

I’m new to this board, just want to say it good be because Wallis was American. Not criticism of Americans, so no intention of offending anyone. Lots of Americans have a fascination with the British Royal family. Could be that Wallis is seen as an icon due to marrying a king.

jeffgoldblum · 05/10/2022 12:32

@custardbear , I can't argue with that! 😄 , I was idly curious wether the Windsors did similar things!

jeffgoldblum · 05/10/2022 12:33

Welcome @AdoraBell , I was wondering the same myself!

And I need to give in and get varifocals!

Ohnonevermind · 05/10/2022 12:40

I think it might predate Wallis - as do you remember the influx of rich American heiress’s into the upper British classes to help shore up their faltering bank accounts

jeffgoldblum · 05/10/2022 12:46

Interesting @Ohnonevermind , I think 🤔, its always been money looking for prestige, but I though it was mainly just the aristocracy rather than the royals? However I could be wrong.

Just a small warning, if the other thread is deleted, we may have a lot of disruptive visitors, point scoring .

I just think Megs has noticed that she has a similar figure to Wallis and is choosing her as wardrobe inspiration for official events.

Wallis was stylish, and had a turn of the century slim figure that suited the clothes of that era so much. Her style is worthy of emulation in my book.

I personally love the red outfit on meghan, and like this photo of them. I haven't liked any of theirs previously.

Actually Wallis figure is more like Kate's they are both very similar and very skinny.

queenofarles · 05/10/2022 12:50

Surely surely that can't be deliberate?
it was the fashion back then,
I have a similar dress to the one Wallis is wearing , I’m certainly not channelling her Grin

NiqueNique · 05/10/2022 12:52

(Just a general comment as I don’t know what other thread is being referred to)

Best thing to do with disruptive posters is to ignore. Don’t @ them, don’t quote them, don’t reply directly to them or their points. Keep the discussion relevant to the original, as if they weren’t posting at all.

Ohnonevermind · 05/10/2022 12:52

They don’t want to move the discussion
forward to talk about hollywood perceptions and stereotyping of people of different Asian backgrounds, they are just are stuck in their perceived victim mentality like their heroes.

Ohnonevermind · 05/10/2022 12:56

@RandomPenguinHouse

I’ve love to hear your comments about stereotyping if you’ve time ?

NiqueNique · 05/10/2022 12:56

Obviously one can wear the same style as an individual from the
past without deliberately copying/channelling/making a point with it.

Especially if one is just wearing it out to dinner or to a party, and not actually ‘starring’ in a media/PR soap opera or releasing photos to the entire world.

Dinoteeth · 05/10/2022 13:00

Once maybe twice would be coincidence but multiple times is definitely copying.

The white coat, almost identical buckles and the gloves.
The red catsuit with almost identical scarf neck detail.

The poses too?

It's too much to be coincidence.

jeffgoldblum · 05/10/2022 13:02

I'm afraid it doesn't look a coincidence anymore, too many pictures, too many the same , and as Dino said the poses too !
I'm just unsure why?

Book is out tomorrow! , I'm quite excited to see what else is unveiled?
It would be great if we heard more about all the royals.
I would also like to know more about behind the scenes protocol and what the staff get up to!

SilverLiningPlaybook · 05/10/2022 13:07

She always seems to be copying someone.

Jibbajabba1 · 05/10/2022 13:07

Oh yes the books out this week isn’t it!

i think the Wallis emulation is an intentional sly little nod. I remember when I was a lot younger, I did think it sounded like such a great romance, abdicating for love! Obviously in light of everything we know now, see it all differently! But I think some people maintain positive connotations with that same whole saga. For all her faults, Wallis was striking and had an iconic look.

Jibbajabba1 · 05/10/2022 13:08

(Apologies for typos and poor grammar, perils of always multi tasking)

themessygarden · 05/10/2022 13:08

There is no way she would purposely try to emulate Wallis-Simpson's style, I think her stylists have a lot to answer for, maybe they are young, clueless Americans who just don't realise who and what Wallis Simpson stood for.
'Oh look, there is another American divorcee, who was a style icon in her time, and who married a guy who was also kicked out of the RF'.

I guess neither Harry nor Meghan, would be expected to realise how similar the clothing style is, it was a whole two/three generations before their time.

Hopefully their new content checker, or whatever her title is, will ensure Meghan's styling is not based on Wallis Simpsons wardrobe.

Meghan had a fabulous style before she left the RF, now she seems to have more misses than hits.

I am looking forward to the book, hoping it throws light on the whole family and not just focuses on the Sussex's, however, as was said previously, maybe the Sussex's ex employees are the only ones who are disgruntled enough to open up to the author, otherwise he might not have enough to write a book.

Ohnonevermind · 05/10/2022 13:11

@themessygarden

Meghan had some fabulous looks, she rocks a white shirt, but she should get her clothes tailored to suit her shape and be more careful in her choice of materials

queenofarles · 05/10/2022 13:16

Every time kate wears a yellow dress or a polka dot dress she gets compared to Diana,
it’s really not, fashion has made a full circle and we are now dressing like it’s the early 90s!

ShamedBySiri · 05/10/2022 13:19

I did think the hard centre parting on the cut photo had a look of Wallis about it.

Can anyone shed light on those green earrings - they look like Christmas earrings from Claire's accessories but presumably they are something more expensive. Could they be a cluster of emeralds?
