In preparation for the books release , and with permission from randompenguin , I thought it would be good to start this thread now !

"But actually talk about the topics brought up in the podcast."

That's what RandomPenguinHouse attempted to do, and as a woman of Asian heritage (who I think had lived in America) then surely her opinion of that podcast was quite relevant.

If the thread is only for people to say Meghan and her podcasts are wonderful then it should probably say in the thread title that no criticism of either Meghan or any of her work will be tolerated.

Im
sorry but this poster was constantly on the thread accusing people
of one thing or another. I did report the posts in question and they were deleted but I saw more of the same style of posts some more were deleted too. It’s just unpleasant and not for me. I don’t engage when people make personal attacks. It’s like high school.

@MrsMaxDeWinter

Some posters decided on the deleted thread that people were not there ‘ in good faith’ and their contributions were to be ignored no matter how insightful they were , that came across as a mixture of bullying and gaslighting. I hope that wasn’t your intention, but it seemed to hurt other podcasters.

Again to allow posters on a important topic a voice based on whether they like Meghan seems exclusionary, and I don’t believe you’re that type of person

You posted here in this thread that there was nothing to talk about on the podcast thread. Not long after writing that there was nothing to post about there, you started posting there again.

You also posted repeatedly in the beginning of the thread, in one post calling Meghan a liar. Later you said she needed an iron. Yes, I questioned that you were there to discuss the podcast.

Are people not allowed to ignore posts which they don’t feel contribute to the conversation?

Jibbajabba1 · 12/10/2022 11:08

Thank you for putting it so well @croque. We can all see what’s really happening, it’s beyond tedious at this point. Usually when threads are deleted by the OP it states that. Funnily enough that one doesn’t. It’s quite clear why it’s been deleted 🧦 And funnily enough, since all the even mildly critical posters were hounded off, it had turned into an echo chamber. So hardly makes sense that the OP would have deleted it at that point. Also all they were harping on about was how ‘vile’ this thread is and how ‘unhinged’ the posters on this thread are. Despite posting on here themselves.

Randompenguinhouse has always been an excellent contributor with great insights and humour. Very sad to see her hounded off just cos she stood up for herself. Mumsnet does have moderators and I’m sure they’ve investigating it all very carefully. Plus the threads are already moderated by mumsnet, so as if they would let actual hate speech run. If they did, none of us would use this platform. So using that tired all excuse of having to defend a multi millionaire celebrities honour to justify bullying and harassing online posters, just because you don’t like their opinion, is transparent. We are all allowed to share our opinions, whether you like them or not. Don’t bother targeting me next, I don’t take you seriously and won’t reply. I’ll let mumsnet deal with you.

Jibbajabba1 · 12/10/2022 11:11

Back to the topic, does anyone know over what period these 3 volumes from Harry wilL be released? I’m presuming annually, and if so, that’s a long commit.

derxa · 12/10/2022 11:12

I just realised the podcast thread is quiet as there is nothing much to discuss on the podcasts

so back to the victimhood as it generates more posts.

Here you go. An hour later you were posting over on the podcast thread.

This came after tons of not so flattering posts about Meghan’s clothing. Kate’s, too. Many of us do not want to engage in this type of highly personal discussion.

Also several from both jibjab1 and randompenguinhouse about that other thread. Bit disingenuous to be openly talking this way about the podcast thread here. You all knew people from both threads were reading it. It’s passive aggressive. It did make me very uncomfortable and in fact, I did not engage with your or jibjab1 on that thread because of it.

Coucous · 12/10/2022 11:20

@HannaHanna I often find there’s no point sometimes in going over what happened. Posters here often band together against anyone with a different train of thought. I’m happy to have discussions but often ignore people when they are rude or throw personal attacks.

I saw on the other thread yesterday where you were trying to explain yourself and point out a few things. You’ll find it won’t make a difference.

Thank you for reading what I wrote. I just find the unchecked revisionism maddening.

But I also think everyone believes what they are writing to be true, even when it’s not reality. And I think it’s difficult to see our own part in things clearly when generally, we are all probably good people.

Don't worry @debbrianna, once the dust is settled, I will start a new thread. I am more motivated than ever that those who want to do so should be able to talk on Mumsnet about what they like about Meghan without being hounded. I am not giving up.

👏👏

I'm wondering about that too. So Meghan will be writing a memoir next? That should have plenty of opportunity to create drama for the royal family. Or will it be their joint book about philanthropy? And then there's also a "wellness" book, which sounds like a Meghan project. None of it sounds very exciting to me. What insights does Harry have to share about being a philanthropist? "Be born into a family of millionaires and go on from there"?

I'm assuming that if Harry's book doesn't sell well then the other books will just be cancelled? I think his book will have a lot of interest to begin with. Not sure if they can sustain that over a four-book deal, though.

HannaHanna · 12/10/2022 11:43

@MrsMaxDeWinter I appreciated the thread and not sure if you saw that prior to your thread I was also critical of Meghan.

But I wanted to participate and so I listened to the podcast was able to find positive points to discuss. I didn’t feel dissuaded from objective criticism of the podcast.

Something about everything going on here really made me see things in a different light.

I also want to say, if there were sockpuppets on your thread then they are all over this board. Mumsnet likely won’t notice unless they are specifically looking at a thread or a poster. But discussion and sharing of ideas will persist.

@GlorianaCervixia
Interesting points, maybe that’s why there have been a bunch of recent articles claiming that Meghan and Harry’s plan is to build bridges with their family soon. Maybe it’s just in case their media content isn’t well received and contracts aren’t renewed?

HannaHanna · 12/10/2022 11:58

Two more things, I’m in US as you all may be tired of hearing. I did not read the posts from earlier until just now. Please read anything I posted today keeping that in mind.

Also, people have thrown around the comments about sock puppetry as if it’s some kind of black mark against the thread that was deleted. But most of us don’t know which accounts were the sock puppets. It could as easily have been the posts you personally agreed with as not.

Ohnonevermind · 12/10/2022 12:03

Is the courtiers book available in hardback in the US ? I just saw an audible version, Is Valentine Low going to do a press tour at the same time ?

Jibbajabba1 · 12/10/2022 12:06

@Ohnonevermind
Not sure, but it would make sense to when it’s released there too I presume ? Which would mean fresh press releases in the US too

Actually the more I think about it, the less it think KC will have offered cash to stop the book.

It would be far too easy for H&M to spin a cash offer as 'the Monarch tried to bribe us'.
I'm thinking it's more been a quiet word, if you release this book then they'll be no way back either personally or professionally.

KC must be hurting at the way H&M have behaved, must be awful not to be able to trust your own kid.
Harry must be hurting that he's being lumped beside his Uncle, and once close relationships, with cousins have been destroyed.

The RF could with time rework the H&M image and have them back working. M would take more work than H.

It's Harry's book so his decision to make. I do think that Meghan as she loves Harry, will support it if it came to that. I don't believe they will speak about it if it happens.

Ohnonevermind · 12/10/2022 12:14

i suppose this is where H&M they will miss Sunshine Sachs as ‘crisis management’ is their area of expertise, but perhaps they’re better away from Sunshine Sachs expertise.

I wonder how they will counter the serious claims of bullying

Ohnonevermind · 12/10/2022 12:17

KC may not give them money directly but could set up a trust for A&L

Jibbajabba1 · 12/10/2022 12:18

@Ohnonevermind
Yes I did think it a bizarre move to axe them with the approaching storm. Also found their reason for doing so a bit disingenuous.

I hope those victims of bullying do get some sort of justice and hopefully this book has helped them to at least have a platform about the abuse they suffered.
