The last thread filled up during a particularly chatty morning.

Meghan enjoys being the focus of attention and courts it. So she is open to scrutiny.

What a ridiculous thing to say. How does Meghan court attention. Other than BM has seen news about her bring them money.

“If you are silent about your pain, they will kill you and say you enjoyed it.” - Zora Neale Hurston

Other than BM has seen news about her bring them money.

What on earth does this nonsense mean?

notanotheroneagain · 01/10/2022 09:22

As for posters trying to make out that KM has some sort of speaking skills or whatever. She has been preparing for her role for over 20yrs now, and she still finds it hard to speak without notes.

twitter.com/andrews_ange/status/1564414373711454210

She also dresses like a 60yr old with her button dresses.

JADS · 01/10/2022 09:26

I want to hear more about the other households. It has been hinted that they may discuss the Queen Mother (not sure what we call her now). That would be interesting.

I would also be interested in the new PoW and his approach. KC seems to be a difficult man to work for. Wilful yet easily led. I would be interested in knowing more about the Jimmy Saville advice on how to deal with bad publicity given the abhorrent behaviour he got away with for years.

maranella · 01/10/2022 09:28

However using that clip to compare them, is low and nasty,, Kate was heavily pregnant and could have been feeling very unwell.

As I said, I based my comment on the photo that was posted in the first thread, not on the entire event. I was being neither low, nor nasty. I merely said that from that one photo, Meghan looked much more confident, glamorous and at ease, which she did.

It's amazing that saying anything complimentary about Meghan leads to an attack mob forming. I'm no apologist for her, but I'm starting to see why she feels she can't do anything right!

themessygarden · 01/10/2022 09:33

It wasn't the complimentary bit that posters are finding offensive, it was the frumpy, poor posture description of a pregnant woman.

You are being unpleasant. Not everyone finds public speaking easy and Catherine addresses in a way that is appropriate to her job.

OMG will you stop misquoting me! I did not say that Kate was frumpy or that she had poor posture FFS!

I know she doesn't pick her clothes - she has a dresser - but on that one occasion, next to Meghan, her outfit wasn't the more attractive one. In many occasions since, Kate has looked fucking amazing.

You have clearly misunderstood the mission. Anything negative about Kate, even a mild word like "frumpy" or the fact that, after all these years of expensive media training, she still mumbles instead of speaking clearly, is low and nasty and beyond the pale, BUT speculating about Doria's relationships, and accusing Meghan of bullying Sunshine Sachs employees, and speculating on her and her husband's mental health and their certain divorce is all perfectly okay.

You can say anything nasty you like about Meghan, but will be attacked for anything remotely positive. And you are not allowed to say anything remotely critical about Kate!

This was to the poster who says she always comes across as confident and relaxed.

That is clearly not true.

DuchessOfPort · 01/10/2022 09:40

I’d be SO interested to read about what it was like working for the Queen Mother earlier in her life when she was Queen Consort - the equerry who worked for her in later life have produced something quite anodyne but working for her before she was widowed and not just having Edwardian style lunches in the garden of Clarence House drinking like a navvy.

DuchessOfPort · 01/10/2022 09:44

Meghan would be a great public speaker if what she said was well written. But it’s mostly nonsense.

And her describing Harry’s reaction to the Roe v Wade ruling as “guttural” was a good demonstration of her not having a clue what she’s going on about. Across the world, people who can read, furrowed their brows as they hoped she meant a mix of gutted and visceral.

notanotheroneagain · 01/10/2022 09:45

I wonder why VL would release 3/4 excepts about H&M when they were there for a short while. Not only that, but he goes on about a bullying claim that was never filed or reported by the supposed victims.

Yet, the palace if chockablock full of tribunals etc. around other members and staff. I wonder if the book covers how the courtiers dealt with Jimmy Savile, Cash in bags, Epstein etc. What advise did they give. What advise did they give others rf members who have been reported for their temper and bullying behaviour.

Excellent questions.

The answer of course is that anything negative about Meghan gets clicks, attention and money.

The posters here who have been frothing about bullying have no interest in discussing bullying allegations against anyone who is not Meghan.

HeddaGarbled · 01/10/2022 09:50

I’d assume it was the Times who chose the extracts, presumably with the agreement of VL, in order to generate sales for the newspaper and interest in the book for VL. It’s not a conspiracy: it’s click bait.

Agreed. She seems to think that words that sound similar mean the same thing. It's not not gutteral/gutted/visceral, it's stereotypes/archetypes, it's niggle/the n word, it's thinking that Archie's title The Earl of Dumbarton = dumb and is some kind of insult. It's like she hears the first four letters of any word and extrapolates the entire meaning from that.

What? Can you link where MM addresses niggle/ n word and the Dumbarton word please. First I'm hearing of it.

RandomPenguinHouse · 01/10/2022 09:55

The Times choosing AND the publisher.

Harry and Meghan is topical. The bullying allegations and investigation was recent, comparatively.

It happened to the couriers.

I have said more than once on these threads that I’d love to know what courtiers said about Andrew, but that I know there will be certain topics that can’t be discussed for legal reasons. Not to protect Andrew per se, but because there were legal settlements and court cases and may still be investigations ongoing for all we know.

It will be a real letdown if it is another book focused solely on H&M.

There have been rumours about PA's bullying for years, hopefully this book will reveal a lot more about that. I also suspect, the real reason the 'bullying report' was buried has nothing to do with trying to protect M&H, but all to do with covering up and protecting the others in the Royal Household.

Croque · 01/10/2022 09:57

maranella · 01/10/2022 08:43

No, I didn't say she 'didn't look good sitting down'. Please don't misquote me. I wasn't being mean about Kate or about her being pregnant. I was merely making the point that the optics of that event favoured Meghan and if I was on the Cambridges' team at that time I'd have wanted to showcase Kate in a better light in future as this event did not do that.

You were being mean actually so own it. Kate already had a young child and was pregnant with her second or third. She has maintained her figure really well despite difficult pregnancies and has always had the natural advantage out of the both of them. Shame on you

notanotheroneagain · 01/10/2022 09:57

Arnaquer · 01/10/2022 09:58

maranella · 01/10/2022 08:23

I strongly suspect that William & Catherine were forced to raise their game due after their first joint appearance with Harry & Meghan.

I do too. I'd actually forgotten about that first public appearance of 'the fab four', until someone posted a pic on the last thread. Meghan looks SO MUCH more glamorous, relaxed and confident than Kate. Meghan is clearly in her element, her jumpsuit is really stylish, she's smiling and leaning forward, looks engaged and happy. In direct contrast, Kate is wearing a frumpy, unflattering dress and looks positively ill at ease. When sitting down, Kate's willowy figure and height advantage mean nothing, whereas Meghan's ease in front of the camera means everything. I suspect the Cambridge team took looked at the optics from that event and said collectively 'This can never happen again!'

What I don't understand about this and other posts is why it has to be a competition.
It was the same with Charles feeling overshadowed by Diana

What??? No, I wasn't being mean and so I'm not going to 'own it'. I made absolutely no disparaging comments about Kate's pregnancy or her figure or her posture. You are the one being nasty here, so shame on you.

Rapidtango · 01/10/2022 10:01

So now Catherine is being brought into the argument - a woman who has done precisely nothing to evince the nasty comments.

I notice Meghan's mother Doria has been mentioned. She has had remarkably little written about her, she has kept her own counsel, not made a point of courting publicity, comes across as a dignified woman and a support to her daughter and family.

A pp posted the following quote:
' ''If you are silent about your pain, they will kill you and say you enjoyed it.” - Zora Neale Hurston'
Perhaps accurate in some circumstances, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe springs to mind. However, I think in the circumstance of vacuous celebrity, 'Least said, soonest mended' should be the quote they aspire to.

The investigation is I think concluded.

Different investigation types. I doubt the FBI is involved in the Meghan bullying claims Hmm

There are stricter laws re publishing something to do with ongoing criminal investigations and those involving victims of sexual abuse and rape. Surely that’s not news to you?
