Anyone else think The Times should not be printing extracts from this new book about Royal Courtiers at this time? Incredibly stupid given that H&M are trying to mend fences? I feel really quite cross for everyone involved - William's efforts to build bridges etc, all going to be in vain now. Very naughty.

Bloody hell Rousette- you’ve been on here literally all day. Do you do this every day !? Is this your job or something?

I'm on bed after 4th COVID and flu jab, feeling grotty, that ok with you?
Let me know if not

The funniest thing about this thread is the 3 obsessive H&M lovers getting in a tizz when they are called Sussex Squad. The cap fits but they are jolly well not going to wear it, so there!

Nah. But detractors of Meghan do hate push back.

The RF has the upper hand because bigger things are at stake than MM's fame and success portraying herself as a philanthropist. If they have to sacrifice that, they will. Whether that is right or wrong is a different story. The fact that the Times is shredding articles non stop is just a warning of how bad it can get. If necessary, history will repeat itself. Quite sad.

We know this - at least most us do. However I personally do not think they are in control. The people who run the media are in charge - QE and the PM aren't in charge of this country. At least they haven't been for a few decades.

RandomPenguinHouse · 25/09/2022 22:36

Good PR and liking something are two completely different things.

What are you on about @IrisVersicolor ? I said that I believed it was seen as positive.
If you want to undermine and deflect, go pick on another point.

You then said it was positive because it was good PR. I’m pointing out that recognising that something creates a good image and personally liking it are not the same thing.

RandomPenguinHouse · 25/09/2022 22:42

Roussette · 25/09/2022 22:34

I haven't changed any settings. I wouldn't know how to do that, I would think it is impossible

The Army order everyone within the Army, that is their Modus operandi. It isn't 'forced' which sounds like he was kicking back and refusing to do it

As posters keep saying on here, accuracy matters

Oh FFS, yes wording matters - I'm often the first to say that - but quibbling because at 10pmish on a Sunday night in an informal post on an informal discussion forum I used 'forced' instead of 'ordered' or 'made to' or 'compelled' to? You're scraping the barrel.

And obviously within the Army, if he was kicking back and refusing to do it, he wouldn't have got very far with that would he, the Army would have forced him or 'moved him on.

Racist culture at Highgrove? Which tribunal?

Google is your friend.

milti · 25/09/2022 22:44

Not sure how the two correlate

Coronateachingagain · 25/09/2022 22:45

Well in army terms he was ordered, or practically "forced to", if you consider the consequences of not following an order while in the army. All semantics. Who cares. It was the right thing to do, so the course and grow up.

Thanks for the link @RandomPenguinHouse a good reminder of those Harry days.

No, they aren't necessarily the same thing. Never said they were. I said 'positive', you interpreted that as you saw fit.

But I think that most members of the RF personally liked it... even if that was only because it was good PR.

Not you random - had enough for one day cba

StormzyinaTCup · 25/09/2022 22:49

@IrisVersicolor is that the discrimination case from 21 years ago involving the Secretary and she lost her case? Or has there been something more recent than this?

Fair enough, I didn't think it was me, was just curious

I think I've worked it out now by scrolling back anyway!

Coronateachingagain · 25/09/2022 22:52

Ahh "the family she never had" comment 😅😅
Even Harry fell for it, still does.

Meghan Markle seems to be a very divisive woman, and here we are. However sadly she may have found her nemesis if they don't relent. Quite baffling she still wants to use her Duchess and all title, I guess on balance creates more "value" (aka revenue) for them, especially during their wannabe philanthropist pseudo royal tours. I think the best way for them is to cut ties completely, they would get a lot more respect for it.

That wouldn't be my choice - even with both parents alive. Did they have a mum though? Did C taken on that role or just focus on PC only?

My dcs went to boarding school for some time as I wasn’t well & dh worked long hours. My mum looked after me.

The dcs stayed a few nights a week so slightly different but it gave them stability, a routine, they were occupied & with their friends around them when at that at the time I couldn’t give them that stability. I also didn’t want them to see me that way.

So yes in some circumstances I can see boarding school would be good.

Not judging you. I just said wouldn't be my choice. I was a boarder - we all have different circumstances.

RandomPenguinHouse · 25/09/2022 23:03

@Coronateachingagain "the family she never had" upon getting engaged does indeed provide evidence from Meghan's own mouth that she had a positive/warm/friendly/joyous welcome from other Royal Family members besides Harry.

MissMarpleRocks · 25/09/2022 23:03

Indeed - that’s why I qualified it by saying for us it was the best way but also they weren’t there every night & came home at weekends so slightly different. The older dc still says they were better than any sleepover. The younger didn’t enjoy it so moved to a different boarding school which they loved.

Coucous · 25/09/2022 23:05

So what's next - is this thread just for hanging her out to dry. I feel like all the threads go on and on about the same shit.
How many more years until it stops?

What about PW and PH - did they have a mum or someone like a mum? I can't imagine their granny could have fulfilled that position . . . or maybe she did?

MissMarpleRocks · 25/09/2022 23:15

I think they had a nanny? Tiggy had been fired by Diana IIRC. Someone with a better memory will be along.

Also I forgot to add that sometimes circumstances force you to make a decision that you wouldn’t ordinarily make. I may not have sent my dcs to boarding school if circumstances had been different. Or I may have chosen a different boarding school that was further away. Who knows? You make a decision at the time as to what suits you best for then.

What evidence do you have that H&M are attempting to ‘mend fences’ OP?

Tiggy Legg Bourke was a mother figure whilst Diana was alive, but I don’t think there was anyone else after that. Certainly not Camilla.

It was Harry's mouth, as for what she thought who knows. According to the DF, she thought she could become Beyoncé 😅 of Britain. Apart from the joke, it looks that she never realised the enormity of what was coming.

There is no evidence on either side as far as I can see
