Why are H&M "less important" now?

thefoggiest · 17/09/2022 09:16

Let's not make this a bashing thread!
But in another thread yesterday it occured to me that the way I see it, I just get the sense that with the queens death they almost drop a rank. But that doesnt make sense? If anything shouldn't they now feel more important? Now that her majesty has gone it just feels like they become more distant somehow. Could it be to do with the passing of a generation, so they are no longer "the youth"?

By the way this isnt based on any facts or anything I've read, just a feeling on it. Can anyone explain? Am I right or wrong?

Medical staff, whether they work in private or public institutions, are legally required to maintain strict confidentiality about their patients. So I'm not sure why you think NDAs would have been required.

And non medical staff - reception/admin etc

Yes. These places deal with high profile people all the time, so Meghan would hardly have been exceptional. Any member of staff caught blabbing to the press would immediately face dismissal and would never find a job in that field again.

And rather insulting given the public funding, support and goodwill that surrounded it.

Why did she tell us about the private ceremony at all? Why did we need to know?

Sneering? Cock a snook at the little people?

Well, that’s the question, isn’t it?
possibilities might include

showing a sense of superiority - hey, we can make the Archbishop of Canterbury dance at our bidding

spite - tee hee, the Brits spent all that money and we were already married

Misguided sense of importance - the rules don’t apply to us

not bothering to think about what she is saying and the implications of what she is saying

just making things up

having difficulty in distinguishing fact from fiction

cultural ignorance

misjudging the intelligence of listeners

tadara · 23/09/2022 16:43

And be found out? NDAs would have been required which goes back to requiring the Palace's input. She couldn't do it without their agreement.

Ever heard of patient confidentiality?

it’s rather an important thing for all people working in the health service. Can lead to instant dismissal.

of course NDAs aren’t needed.

Quite. Worth remembering that Meghan gave birth to Archie in a private hospital, the Portland, which has kept all her details confidential (as you would expect) so it clearly can be done.

Even supposing a staff member were willing to talk to the press, would it even be legal to publish sensitive and confidential information about an individual's mental or physical health?

Gilmorehill · 23/09/2022 17:38

When M discussed her suicidal feelings in the OW interview, I didn’t want to dismiss it. However as time has passed, I’m wondering why she is apparently thriving now. As OW was such a shit interviewer, she asked MM what she did when the ‘institution’ denied help. You can’t just get better by yourself when you suffer from poor mental health. I am not buying that she was magically better when she left the RF. People who suffer with poor mental
health don’t just get cured when they change their living situation.
Yes I am basically saying I now feel skeptical about what she said. This is partly because my oldest ds has been suffering over the last couple of years and has been recently diagnosed with depression. It’s made me really appreciate how mental health issues don’t just go away and they are about what’s inside, not how wonderful or awful your life appears.

You'd half expect her to say that she'd already given birth before she actually did. Oh...

She personally did? someone who was in labour or just through with childbirth was coordinating their own PR?, please don't let hate blind you.

Also say what you really want to say with your chest.

Meghan said she was still healing nearly a month ago. I'm sure she has good days and bad days. What do you want from her?

Bit disrespectful to the Queen all this gossip, no?

I can't wait Harry's book to be out then, since this is all fine.

Her words were: "Three days before our wedding, we got married."

Still didn't say her wedding was not real.

Certainly states they were married before the wedding.

Watch the clip too. Dramatic pause, knowing smile, hand gesture. All to give the impression of a very significant revelation. She's an actress, it's very deliberate.

Although to be honest, I don't think she meant to imply that it was a legal wedding (though she clearly did). I think she meant for us to know that she had deliberately kept something from us, that she considered important. Her perfect right to feel that way and share what she likes, but it does show contempt.

Not quite. They wanted something small before the big do and she shared that they were able to have a private moment. Good for them. M never said legal wedding anyway, if you assumed it, that's on you.

Farmerazza · 23/09/2022 18:03

So they exchanged vows in a private ceremony 3 days before and the legal wedding was a few days later.

What shall we do with Meghan?

You would think she was Satan's spawn the way people go on and on and on - what do you want to do with her?

just read that article - very much backs up what the Tom Bower book said.

I'd forgotten Low's book was due out this month - bit overshadowed by the Queen's death

No.

She said 'we were married'.

Getting married has a very specific, unambiguous legal and religious meaning. Nobody is 'assuming' anything. They are quoting her directly.

Nope. Marriage has cultural and legal meanings. People call themselves married and never signed any papers, spiritual unions are a thing. If she'd used the word legally then i'd agree.

So books are ok? i can't wait to hear H's telling of it. These same folks were asking Harry to cancel his memoir.
