Do Camilla and Charles live separately?

She was dropped off in Wiltshire. I was surprised they didn't stay together today.

I'm not hating btw just genuinely curious and I kind of admire her for creating her own space if
It's true.

ALSO, because it's driving me crazy, did Anne and Tim separate briefly back in the nougties?

I'm sure I remember it being announced on Sky, but it was never mentioned again and he seemed to continue accompanying her to Royal engagements.

I know but I don't want to be accused of being a scurrilous fish wife filthy republican that I am. 😀

What if George turns out to be gay, would he need an heir by surrogacy? Oh the questions.....

I don’t think you get ‘gay ‘ Royals. Secretly maybe, but not publicly.
I don’t think the monarchy will like that , no matter how modern they say they are.
George is second in line to the throne, obviously William has hopefully a long way to go yet.

No, if George was gay and died childless, it would just move on to Charlotte and her line.

A surrogate heir wouldn't be accepted, who would be the mother of the child? Not that it matters because said child would be born "out of wedlock" and be illegitimate.

My dad and his partner still have their own houses. They spend a lot of time together but a lot apart as well. It works for some couples, especially those who met when older and don't have children together.

He totally would have done that to the Queen.

He had numerous affairs including with Princess Alexandra - they went sailing together as they knew the Queen hated it.

You're a tabloid's dream.

JaneyBrowning · 15/09/2022 20:57

Camilla's house was bought when she was divorced from APB (who slept with numerous women almost right from the start of their marriage.)

It's a modest house (think it has something like 6 bedrooms) and she uses it for her family and grandchildren so they can make a noise and not disturb Charles at Highgrove.

It's her 'woman shed' where she can escape away from servants etc.

There are plenty of couples who get together in their 50s and older who live in separate houses some of the time.

Margaret Drabble (author) did it for years.
As does Judi Dench and her partner David.

I think many older women want to keep their own home even though they have a new partner later in life.

ancientgran · 15/09/2022 20:57

Well we can all make up things to suit ourselves but it doesn't make them true. The reality is we don't know but what we do know is that it was an unhappy marriage, he did not admit to having an affair throughout his marriage and however wonderful people think Diana is she didn't make him happy.

For both of them I think the unforgivable thing they did was those television interviews which must have been so distressing for two children, the teasing at school must have been awful. Imagine how that must have been for them. I can't fathom how a loving parent could do that, it is so self indulgent. I lost respect for both of them when they did that.

I can't find the post now, but someone above mentioned the Windsor house is allegedly going to be Kate's 'separation' house. Apparently William and Kate are already living separately, which is why we frequently see them arriving to events in different cars at different times.

Crikeyalmighty · 15/09/2022 20:58

It's like Eastenders for aristos!!

It has annoyed me slightly with all the memes with Prince Philip and the Queen and im sure it's well intentioned but possibly a bit out of kilter. , it was apparently well known here in Windsor (lots of people have jobs relating to the castle) that the Queen lived here for long periods without Philip living here. I'm not sure the relationship was as some thought. There's a lot of protocols involved at this level though . I do think it odd at an advanced age to have so much time spent living separately if you have a ton of space anyway, unless there is a bit more to it. Charles and camilla though- wise lady to keep her own space- bet he can be a curmudgeonly grump!!

It's an open secret that Anne still hangs around with her former old flame, Andrew Parker Bowles, maybe as a friend or maybe more.

I get annoyed at all the vitriol (here ) about Camilla because Anne had two affairs when she was married to Mark, one was her body guard and the next was TL.

At least Charles only had eyes for one other woman!

Amazing how people think that as long as they put 'it's an open secret' at the start of their post they can spread any damaging, half baked or scurrilous rumour around.

George would have an arranged marriage with a woman and a boyfriend on the side.

A PP said the Windsor house was to “sideline” Kate, is that what you mean?

Who says William and Kate are living separately? The arriving separately can easily be explained by him having meetings she didn’t need to go to and she had school runs or engagements or her own.

Camilla bought Rey Mill House so she has a private space without the tappings of royalty where she can spend time with her children and grandchildren, not being a duchess/the Queen consort. She bought it years before they married - I was involved in the sale to her in a small way in the mid-nineties.

So they both live at Highgrove, and we see them regularly (I am very local), but she has always kept Rey Mill for herself and her family.

That's fascinating, thank you.
Both houses look a dream.

Why does everybody like to poke their nose into business which is none of theirs? It is none of our business.

No not the sidelining post, just something about a separation house.

Yes, that's very true. Clearly a lot of the Royal couples live in separate palaces/houses though so it's not always a negative thing.

Anon778833 · 15/09/2022 21:08

Royal couples don’t share bedrooms - it’s traditional for them to sleep separately isn’t it?

Um, they’re bankrolled by the tax payer so yes it is our business!

That must be bliss, no snoring, no wheezing or breathing on you, no duvet wrestling, no arguments about the room being too warm/too cold and no coughing and sniffling when the spouses are unwell!

Maybe that's the secret to old age, sleeping in different bedrooms, starfished out in a king size bed and getting a great night's sleep 🤣

@Arbesque You are entitled to your opinion of course. However, it's not as hal-baked as you seem to think.
Even without the rumours you think are being spread, look at how PA looks in the presence of TL and compare with her sheer delight at being with APB - plenty of photos online.

Anne evidently wanted to divorce T years ago and the Queen wouldnt allow a 2nd divorce.

I didn't pick this up through the press but through people who know them.

My point is, I think it got announced but it never actually publicly happened.

Quite prepared to be wrong about this as noone ever mentions it.

I have vague recollections about it too.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 15/09/2022 21:18

@KentuckyDerbyandJoan no sadly not! We owned it about 150 years ago.

diddl · 15/09/2022 21:19

I've read that William & Kate are moving to Windsor Castle at some point.

Thought that that was the monarch's official country residence!
