I've seen a clip on Instagram where a group of women completely blanked MM when she spoke to them. It was awful to watch.
I feel so sorry for her, she didn't deserve that at all.
I saw another clip where someone had asked her for a hug, she obliged and when they hugged she really held the member of public and closed her eyes, it looked as if she really needed that hug .
No wonder she ran away from the UK

You’ve got to wonder what the tipping point is ?

There isn't one.

You’re going to get people who like them, you’re going to get people who loathe them. You’re going to get people who think they’re sweet and you’re going to get people who think they’re spiteful. These threads just go round and round in circles.

I cannot clap this enough.

No one has ever EVER changed their own opinion based on something someone angrily pointed out to them on Mumsnet.

It just gets more and more and more and more and more and more entrenched and divisive and worse.

I’d rather be posting on a thread about the amazing current Ukrainian counter offensive to be honest, but fear I’d be on my own

i love Meghan ❤️ compared to fucking Putin😡

No. They weren't going to sue

That's made up. They put out a statement

It was widely reported that a letter was sent to the BBC and other media outlets by Schillings, acting for the Duke & Duchess of Sussex.

The letter is reported to have said "that unless the BBC apologised and withdrew that report, the Sussexes would sue for defamation."

'that report' being the Queen was informed of the name rather than asked.

The BBC have left the report on their website. They have not yet been sued.

Schillings have not said that reports about the content of their letter (intention to sue the BBC for defamation) were incorrect.

And those saying they’d lose their privacy, as I have read many times here and I believe it to be true, they never said they wanted privacy anyway.

It's true, they didn't say they were leaving to pursue a private life in the sense of disappearing into obscurity. They never made a statement to that effect and it's one of the tedious criticisms that come up periodically on here. That said, there's a huge difference between having a public profile and having your personal documents and communications raked over for everyone's entertainment.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/09/2022 18:35

They were paid a lot of money for doing (the Oprah interview)

Apparently Oprah claimed that H&M weren't paid at all for that - also that they had no idea what she was going to ask

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/09/2022 18:38

Reuters factcheck for the "paid for the interview" thing here: www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-meghan-oprah-paid-idUSL1N2LE1QX

In her own words, Meghan also confirmed that what Oprah claimed "is all correct"

So she can demand something of the RF. How does that work then?

Legal action. She is the subject of a report that she would like to know the details of. I don't really have to explain this do I? Smile

She probably doesn't want to know what is in that report, if you know what I mean. By burying the report, they are Mekong her a favour. Until they decide to publish the report.

It’s Meghan btw

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/09/2022 19:00

She is the subject of a report that she would like to know the details of

Didn't they say the investigation was going to be into "the way they handle these things" or something?

I'm no lawyer, but would have thought that if it was about any particular person then that person would be able to demand sight of it, whereas if they made it about a process they might be able to avoid that?

Ohnonevermind · 13/09/2022 19:05

Legally, I thought the subjects of an alleged bullying incident have to be provided with a copy of the report, so I would I have thought Meghan already has a copy

Hopefully someone with a HR background can confirm.

Twitter seems to be full of people like that, divisive on both sides. I’m glad I’m not on it.

Twitter seems to be full of people like that, divisive on both sides. I’m glad I’m not on it.

Twitter is what you want to make of it, I handle it carefully and it is so useful

For instance....rolling news, if something happens in the world, I am straight on it and know what's going on

Ukraine... It is absolutely impossible with national morning for instance, to find out from news channels anything much about Ukraine. However I follow a couple of reputable military experts who do a resume of the current situation every few days, this comes from a position of knowledge given their careers, and I can find out about the current situation, the pushback etc

It's also very interesting for judging the national mood. It took me a long time to work out who I wanted to follow and I was curious why anyone would want to follow me, but somehow they do, but I am not one of these obsessed with the number of followers they have got, it's been very slow and steady over years for me

Travellingwomble · 14/09/2022 07:18

I've just seen a headline with a picture suggesting William was physically reaching out to Meghan when they got out of the car pre walkabout. The reality when you watch the video was that he was in fact introducing her to the gentleman outside the car. Alot of people won't bother to watch the video but the subliminal message is that William is painted as the 'good' guy. If there are enough of those headlines and pictures misrepresenting the facts then it's often enough to ' persuade' people of a false reality. I think theyre setting h and m up for a fall. Be seen to be welcoming and forgiving then any complaining on their part justified or not will be seen as h Nd m being the issue. Nobody really knows what goes on behind closed doors. As someone who has been the victim of a work colleague who was a master at manipulation of the facts it's a horrible place to be in ordinary circumstances never mind on a world stage.

Ohnonevermind · 14/09/2022 08:21

@Roussette

I’m bad enough on mumsnet, being largely confined to my bedroom for the last few days I’ve spent too much time here as I don’t have the attention span to read.
I fear if I went down the Twitter wormhole it would be too consuming.

i joined it around Jan 6 and used to for a few days and then left again.

i’m in ireland so listen as broadcaster Pat Kenny who gets people on regularly to speak about Ukraine from a political and military view.

I must saw photos of Meghan and Harry at the palace last night.

The first thing I spotted though was her make-up and I just felt sorry for her. I know people are going to pick up on it on Twitter and accuse her of going for the nightclub look.

It struck me how out of place she much feel back at the palace and how she has no-one to guide her in these subtle matters any more within the palace.

I don’t think it’s Kates responsibility though as the non verbal cues show relations have completely broken down.

MelodyPondsMum · 14/09/2022 08:32

For the Sussexes, from a PR and producing content pov, they should be entering their reconciliation phase. If the rapprochement between the Sussexes and the RF continues, I do wonder what all the rabid 'squads' on social media will do. Will they spontaneously combust because they don't have a proxy war to wage over the RF? Or will they overnight just switch to a different topic where they can create division and fight?
Twitter gives a very false impression of public opinion. It's an echo chamber where you can get banned for saying sex is real but there are no Twitter consequences for sending rape and death threats to women or if you openly admit you're a paedophile.
Governments, 'activists' and companies use Twitter the same way they do polls - not to gauge public opinion but to try to sway it. The accepted views on Twitter have no connection to reality and the trending topics are continually manipulated to push a very definite political agenda.

There will be enough guidance if she wants it.

It's only common amongst white people. And as I said, it's as bad as 'I'm not racist but...' and 'My best friend is black...'

Do you really despise white people that much? You yourself are beginning sound a tad racist tbh

I felt sorry for all of them tbh.

Kate looked tired and tense. Harry and William looked sad . Meghan looked apprehensive
Just brought back memories of little Harry being forced to walk behind his mother’s coffin
