These people are apparently worried about what Harry will write in his memoir but we've somehow managed to get a play by play of what has gone on this week.

From blocking Meghan's visit to Balmoral to how the joint greeting of well wishers came about.

Please note that these writers are making it clear they are speaking to Palace sources.

Now when H&M start speaking (in defense of themselves), people will complain.

Prince William and Harry’s reconciliation is just for mourning, not for life

Bombshell text from William to Harry that sparked an unexpected show of family unity after the pair failed to meet at Balmoral in the hours after Queen's death, writes RICHARD KAY

Harry said how ‘worried he was that the queen was surrounded by the wrong people’ and then turns down her invitations to visit ?

I'm not sure what was so terrible about thinking she could go to Balmoral. It's not like it's a two up two down in Coronation St, I'm sure there are enough rooms that she wouldn't be in the way and wouldn't need to be anywhere near the Queen.

I don't know why Catherine going or not going had anything to do with it either, Catherine obviously wanted to see her kids on their first day at school, Meghan's kids were in California.

I'm sure some of the royals might not want to spend time with her but as their mother was dying/dead that was hardly the biggest issue they had to deal with.

Her actual grandchildren weren't there, so it seems pretty inappropriate for a 'grandchild in law' to be there, regardless of the relationship.

I’m so sorry to tell you that this isn’t true - Queen Elizabeth was not loved my the majority of humanity (said as an anti royalist who nonetheless is very sad she died).

I would have agreed with you until I saw the news cycle around this event. It has blown anything I was expecting out of the water, and is predicted to be the most-watched broadcast of all time. It's not for nothing that Charles is known as King Charles but she was known as 'The Queen'.

@skullbabe

omid scobie her spokesperson said they were both going and then after an hour made a corrected statement saying only the Duke was going.

This journalist is not their spokesperson- he is sympathetic to H&M obvs but he is not their spokesperson.

Ohnonevermind · 15/09/2022 17:24

A lot of people loved her, and while some on here are irritated by ordinary people sharing their treasures memories of interactions with with the Queen, I find it touching.

she met so many people over the course of her life.

MushMonster · 15/09/2022 17:25

I think you are very right @MaulPerton
My mother is watchibg it, all the way from Spain.
They have watched all the weddings and events from the Brittish RF as much as the Spanish one, with whole days of coverage. Other RFs get attention in Spain too, but not as much as the Brittish RF.

How many invites made by the queen to visit Balmoral did they decline while she was still alive I wonder.

Nobody knows - you don’t actually know how many times Harry and Meghan have been back do you?

It'll probably be in the book!

How do you know he never visited?

So Harry should not mention his relationship with the Queen - in his memoir about his life. I see.

No one knows. People talk like they know everything.
It's what the media feeds you

Oh God why do people believe the shite the media feeds them.

I still don't see why that makes it inappropriate. If there was only room for one more and she bagged the place then I can see it but I'm assuming Balmoral has got room for them all. If she'd gone and insisted on sitting by the bed I'd see it but just going with her husband doesn't strike me as a problem.

Two of her GC were there, William and Harry, and a DIL.

SilverLiningPlaybook · 15/09/2022 18:22

Because I doubt very much anyone wanted to see or talk to her. Not after all that’s happened. I imagine some members of the family consider she has caused a great deal of stress to the Queen over the last few years too.

So it wasn't protocol, if another GCs partner went it would have been OK? People might not like her but if you can't behave when someone is dying I despair.

SilverLiningPlaybook · 15/09/2022 18:29

Maybe they were worried Meghan wouldn’t behave and that was the problem.

Well they are all adults and they should all bloody well behave. I have 2 DsIL who don't get on, I've already said if there's any arguing when I'm dying they will be thrown out and can't attend the funeral. I find being direct with them is the best way but in all honesty they are both being ridiculous and it has caused such upset in the family. I can't believe people can't behave themselves in a house when someone is dying/has just died.

Endoftether2000 · 15/09/2022 18:33

I think M started the vileness🤔let's face it she is not really liked by her own family 😳

Well I don't know her family but her mum seems fond of her. Not the point though as I said they are all adults and should be able to behave themselves. My original point was why is it inappropriate which people keep saying without explaining why other than some saying Catherine wasn't going which seems irrelevant to me, they are both adult women and can decide to go or not according to their circumstances.

Anyway it is clear now from the answers that it is inappropriate because it is her and no other reason which is actually quite pathetic.

smilesy · 15/09/2022 19:06

I have read that the reason William was asked to go initially was in his role of councillor of state. It was not initially realised how ill the Queen was, and the King thought that they would be able to carry out the meeting of the privy council that was postponed from the night before. Maybe that was why the wives were not invited.

I was referring to any 'quiet' visits.

Of course they should be able to behave however is it not possible that The Queen herself made it clear who she wanted with her ?
The past few years have shown that family matters are not necessarily kept private when it comes to Meghan so I think it comes down to trust and the RF probably don’t trust her .

Have to agree to disagree on this one! Smile

@Meanderings

They complained that Lillibet and Archie couldn't have prince and princess title despite the fact that royal protocol states that great grandchildren of a monarch cannot have these titles unless they are in direct line to the throne. So it is not impossible that they would kick off over HRH.

Would those be the letters of patent that were changed to allow all of William and Kates children to have the title of prince or princess and HRH and not just George?

It was reasonable in my mind to expect that the Queen would have changed the rules again for Harry after she'd done it for his brother
