I had no idea she birthed (the now King) Charles via C-section, at home, IN Buckingham Palace... Imagine!

By Charles II in honour of Charles I, I believe.

That would make sense. Virginia is named for Elizabeth I and Georgia for George I, I believe. Nearest James I got to having a bit of the New World named after him was Jamestown. Grin

Georgia was named for George II. As for James, New York was actually named for James II when he was Duke of York.

We all know her 1st Prime Minister was Winston Churchill and her last was Liz Truss.

But the fact that amazed me was Winston Churchill was born in 1874 and then 101 years later, Liz Truss was born in 1975.

That blows my mind

Oh that is mad.

I'm glad she changed the order of succession, although wish she'd got round to it a bit sooner - Anne would be a much better third in line for those 30 years until William was born than Andrew, although he's far enough down the line now for it to hopefully not make any difference!

It's weird that 7 y/o Charlotte is now the highest ranking female royal!

There's a scene in The Crown where the Queen and Philip get into a massive argument on tour and she chases him outside wielding a tennis racquet, only to discover some waiting photographers. She then puts on her lipstick, grabs her handbag and sweet talks them into destroying the film roll.

I assumed it was invented but no, apparently it actually happened!

All royal births were home births, most other births were home births too.

William was the first born in a hospital.

There was a fully equiped and staffed operating theatre.

What's really strange for me is that all those in line tot he throne have just gone up one

She was fluent in French, that's also new to me. Although I wouldn't be surprised if she knew more languages.

Also love the story about her meeting some American tourists who didn't recognise her, and she told them the guy she was with had met the queen several times. So the posed with him and asked her to take a picture, which she did. Then they took more photos of all of them. Then when they were gone she said she hoped someone recognised her when they showed the photos when they got home

It was just post war and there was rationing. Everyone got coupons to limit the amount of cloth etc you could use. Lots of people sent her theirs so she could get a dress
