It feels like we're being slowly prepared for her passing away. I feel unexpectedly tearful.

But she looked okay only yesterday? surely she wouldn't be up and working is she was at death's door?

It happens very frequently this way.

Blackbirdblue30 · 08/09/2022 14:20

I'm no royalist either, but the ages in my family match their one. I remember now a few years ago seeing my grandmother dying at 92. I think many people will have memories like that. What a living history life she's had.

workiskillingme · 08/09/2022 14:20

I thinking someone very sudden like a PE has happened

Sparklingbrook · 08/09/2022 14:20

or are we all literally expected to stay home and mourn?

What like a lockdown? That's not happening.

Nat6999 · 08/09/2022 14:20

Prince Harry was at Frogmore & is travelling to Balmoral, Prince Andrew is already at Balmoral.

DutchessOfMuck · 08/09/2022 14:20

Thank you @bellabelly

💐 for everyone

UsernameIsDeadToMe · 08/09/2022 14:20

I suspect she’s already passed as well. And I think Huw knows it.

Cudz · 08/09/2022 14:20

Like so many others I feel genuinely sad and on the edge of tears since hearing today's news. I'm certainly no Royalist but it does just bring up so many feelings around our own elderly relatives and one's that we have lost. God bless her x

Does anyone know what national protocol is for activities etc when she dies? I've been looking through the "operation" links and it only really explains funeral activities. I'm trying to work out if things like outdoor sports clubs would still be played or are we all literally expected to stay home and mourn?

Bit of information here www.indy100.com/amp/what-happens-when-the-queen-dies-2658163905

BuffaloCauliflower · 08/09/2022 14:21

Already feeling upset, but not unexpectedly. It certainly may be that she’s already passed, but I hope not for those travelling to be with her. I assume travelling by private plane?

TwinGirlsOnTheWay · 08/09/2022 13:50

Not tearful at all. She tried to use public poverty relief money to heat her palaces and defended her utterly indefensible son. The sooner the monarchy is gone in this country, the better

^ This ^^

UsernameIsDeadToMe · 08/09/2022 14:22

Can we not do this just now? Can it just wait?

SunflowerOrange · 08/09/2022 14:24

The BBC coverage is showing the police putting put barriers outside the entrance to Balmoral.

Me too. School? The local agricultural show on Saturday?

loobylou10 · 08/09/2022 14:25

Wow. Have some respect can't you. Disgusting.

amusedbush · 08/09/2022 14:25

I'm as far from a royalist as someone can be but even I feel a bit weird. She has just always been... there. Obviously it comes to us all at some point but I never imagined her actually dying and my brain can't picture a different monarch.

Like PPs, DH thinks she has already passed away and they'll make an announcement after the travelling family members have all arrived.

HotHeatDays · 08/09/2022 14:25

TeeBee · 08/09/2022 12:51

Yeah but he told me last night they were ramped up and prioritized.

Trust me, they are constantly looked at and actually rehearsed by key players.

SirVixofVixHall · 08/09/2022 14:25

I also think she may well have died already. I am very sad. Her whole adult life given to this Country.

MaryDerry · 08/09/2022 14:26

I'd like to roll my eyes and say "bloody media - making a mega drama" but if the family are all zooming up there then it has to be very severe.
If she was at Balmoral, her holiday home, surely there'd be no need to make any announcement if it was not serious.

I feel dread at not having her as Queen. Not because I am a royalist, but because the follow-ups don't seem to have the same ability to do that role (and I am being polite)

Who's being disrespectful?

workworkworkugh · 08/09/2022 14:26

This makes me feel so sad, I'm not very political but I love the Queen and she reminds me of my own Nan who passed away a few years ago at 93. As someone said, she's just been a constant in all our lives.
I'm in Australia and we heard the news about an hour ago, It's currently 11:30pm and I don't mean to be morbid, but I really don't want to go to sleep to wake up and find out she passed away hours ago (our time) and sort of miss a bit of history I guess.

icelolly12 · 08/09/2022 14:26

Can't say her passing will impact me on a personal level in any way shape or form, but obviously anyone dying is sad. A lot of country's leaders etc respect the Queen, so this will be yet another way in which 'Great' Britain loses its global influence. Don't really see any point in the monarchy carrying on now tbh.

Smudges16 · 08/09/2022 14:27

Thanks for the info on Operation Unicorn. Would Prince Charles be crowned straight away?

It's feeling very sombre on the BBC. I think she may have already passed. It seems like they know and are waiting for the go ahead to announce it.

bootseason · 08/09/2022 14:27

Very sad but it has looked like she has been suffering poor health since Philip passed.
