It feels like we're being slowly prepared for her passing away. I feel unexpectedly tearful.

You're 96, dying from at least old age. In one of your favourite places, with family and privacy or in a hospital with strangers?

Apologies, but I don't know much about medical protocol. I wonder why they haven't taken (airlifted) the queen to hospital in Aberdeen? Of course they will have medical staff and basic equipment at Balmoral but it won't be anywhere as well-equipped as an actual hospital. I thought that the precautionary measure for such high-profile royals and heads of state was to get them to hospital asap to be on the safe side. Given the palace statement it seems HM's condition is very serious and it would make sense for her to be under observation in hospital instead of at home.

I think it indicates she's at end of life. They're not trying to 'fix' her or make her better. Many choose to die at home. It's about keeping her comfortable and being peaceful. Because of her privilege she will have doctors on tap at Balmoral anyway.

We were told at 3:27pm. No reason to not trust the source and just passing on 🤷🏼‍♀️ There are hundreds of people who know across the world before the public announcement

I work in politics and we had a London Bridge meeting yesterday.

She wouldn't need to go to hospital unless for specialist treatment. The royal residences have medical facilities that cater for many medical needs.

Oh come on this protocol is so incredibly strictly adhered to, not one word or action isn't planned to the second. No one on this site has been 'told'. It just would not happen. Unless a BBC Presenter is hanging around Mumsnet during their shift.

I believe she is dead, but I do not believe any ordinary civilians on here have been told.

Think back to March 2020. Videos of army trucks and tanks full of troops because martial law was about to be imposed; except it wasn't, because those vids were of something a few years before totally unrelated to the pandemic. People needing to get a thrill out of posting something to stir people up.

Its amazing how many people at (presumably busy for them) times like these have time to gossip with random MNers.
