Lebo M has said he doesn't recall talking to the DoS about Mandela when they met at the premiere according to Telegraph on twitter

www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2022/09/01/meghan-markle-lion-king-composer-lebo-m-nelson-mandela/

Snog · 01/09/2022 14:44

Also Roussette perhaps don't claim to know what other posters think when in reality you have no idea. Why do you do that?

Readinginthesun · 01/09/2022 14:44

Mumsnut · 01/09/2022 14:40

That’s the take at the top of the article. Getting into the detail, he says he can’t remember what they talked about - so neither a yes norr a no

Given the outrageous comment alleged to have been made I am surprised that no one appears to recall saying it !
Is it not likely that Lebo M is trying to be diplomatic rather than call MM a liar .

Serenster · 01/09/2022 14:49

Yes, I was about to say that that sounds very diplomatic!

If it was indeed him who wanted to tell Meghan that he and his fellow South Africans had danced in the streets at her wedding because it had meant as much as Mandela’s release, you’d think he might remember the happy day he got to meet the source of so much joy in person. No?

By the way, I want rid of the monarchy. It's not a love / hate soap opera re who you 'like ' and who you 'don't like ' for gods sake .

The issues and corruption surrounding the monarchy are legion . Threads like this , focussing on 'who you like' only serve to deflect and distract from the real issues - but I'm sure you are well aware of that .

PS W and K are dull ( how W manages to be so dull with his reputed nasty temper is a mystery )

Either that, or Lebo regularly compares Mandela's release to a host of joyful events to the extent that it is difficult to recall which specific event he may or may not have referenced....

But you think William and Kate are dull and it isn't a question of personalities that you like and don't like😂
I'm glad they're dull. We desperately need some dullness in public life at the moment.

Serenster · 01/09/2022 14:59

I’m imagining being married to him:

”Mum, where’s dad?”
”He was sitting over there ….oh no, he’s out dancing in the streets again. Man U must have won”

😂

Novella4 · 01/09/2022 15:00

It's not 1950 .
I'm afraid dull will not cut it

skullbabe · 01/09/2022 15:01

Ohnonevermind · 01/09/2022 08:50

Something is very wrong with a person who says that people think they’re on a par with Mandela.

her and Trump debating would be so funny, the fact checkers laptops would explode

Just as well she didn’t

Serenster · 01/09/2022 15:03

Conscientious and dull is exactly what you want in a career civil servant though Novella, which is essentially what the direct heirs are. It might not make for splashy headlines about their private lives, but that’s not what they are there for. 🤷‍♀️

Novella4 · 01/09/2022 15:06

@Serenster
Nonsense

There is plenty of splashy stuff behind the facade ( money, affairs , laws changed ,) but in order to tolerate all that in the modern day they'd need to be loved or at least admired .
They aren't .

Novella4 · 01/09/2022 15:07

Harry had the common touch , even I could see that .
The royals lost a lot when he left .
And I'm here for it .

Justkidding55 · 01/09/2022 15:07

She sued the press but apparently let the “media” who apparently called her son the N word off and didn’t sue them.liar

No one. If they had, they would have been in court by now ( unless it was HM herself, which Megs has denied).

why on earth would anyone think their children would be black anyway? The father is white ( ginger ), the mother has a white father and a black grandmother

There’s a lot more to worry about in their intellectual and emotional heritage than their racial inheritance

Perhaps you should read about US racial history (ie who gets to call themselves black) before you ask questions like this

‘Gets to call themselves black?’ What does that mean?

JohnPrescottsPyjamas · 01/09/2022 15:17

Is it possible MM is building a case of how absolutely awful her life is since she married into the RF that very soon a separation/divorce might be pending?
That and the way she clearly intending on heading down the route of becoming a very loose cannon would certainly ensure a very, very big payout in exchange for a gagging clause.

Neither a fan of either the RF or MM - just a fascinated spectator!

I think stability can be very underestimated. It is one of the things most prized about the Queen and the strength of Victoria's long reign. Go back to the rackety sons of George III (who were neither loved or admired) or the abdication and it all gets a bit more dodgy.

They do need to adapt to changing times but knowing when to keep quiet, smile and just wear the sparkly hats is important, IMO.

Novella4 · 01/09/2022 15:22

Queens do better than kings .

Let's see how it goes with Charlie .

HubbaHubble · 01/09/2022 15:26

Readinginthesun · 01/09/2022 14:51

Another case of recollections may vary ……

As I posted before, is it not possible that he was just being hyperbolic in the moment?

for example if you were invited to a dinner party by Brooklyn Beckham and said to him “this is the best meal I’ve ever had, you’re as good if not better that Gordon Ramsay”.

You don’t ACTUALLY mean it, it’s just social patter and both parties know it’s a hyperbolic jokey compliment.

It’s taking it seriously that makes it weird.

Novella4 · 01/09/2022 15:27

The queen has kept her mouth shut ( banned that pesky bbc programme too after requesting it as a few 'unhelpful' comments slipped out ) and hoped that would keep the masses quiet .

She has made bad mistakes - Aberfan , how she reacted to Diana's death and protecting Andrew to name but 3.
None of them are as popular as they were , they are actively unpopular with the young . And that is with the queen a little old lady .

Everyone is waiting .

Roussette · 01/09/2022 15:27

That's interesting, I can believe that.

Isnt it bizarre to have a 96 year old in a job whilst a 74 year old man is waiting in the wings to take that job.

Novella4 · 01/09/2022 15:29

@CPL593H
The 'sparkly hat' as you call it is stuffed with looted treasures and blood diamonds .
